Excellent post! The whole thing has been orchestrated by him to try and get a global stage for him to spout his bile into the world (who are now unfortunately waiting to hear what he has to say). The best thing they could now is to keep the whole thing behind closed doors and not allow court reports to be released. Don't give the flame any oxygen and it will die out.

The main problem I would say is that the majority of PC users are completely clueless with regards to keeping their system patched and up to date let alone making sure they have decent antivirus. So unless you can ship an OS which is secure and never needs patching the problem is not going away anytime soon.

You need to look at the bigger picture. Journals put relevant articles together and distribute them to selected target audiences, they have a justifiable reason for existing and have to charge to keep running. You aren't just paying for the PDF you are supporting the journal and it's staff to continue working. How else do you think the journals fund themselves?

The correct way of implementing this would be the next time you log in it asks whether it is ok to turn this feature on (with a proper explanation of the pros and cons of doing so). That way the average user of Facebook would be able to make an informed decision as to whether they want it on or off.
