A GIMP frontend that mimicks Photoshop (or almost any other image editing software), and I'd wager that you see GIMP on a hella lot of desktops in a rather short time.
GIMP is an outstanding product completely and utterly crippled by its user interface. There may be a few fans and supporters out there, but the sheer fact that GIMP hasn't taken over yet (despite it's almost feature completeness) should end this argument.
The arguments brought up are sickening, especially on a site that presumably caters to the nerd and technologist. A discussion about gerontology starting off with endless harping about what substance Adam and Eve were made of. wtf?
This rabid spread of religious mumbo-jumbo into every niche of daily life is almost physically revolting.
It took mankind so long to get a distance from superstitious, unfounded and uttlery fabricated crap (which everything is until proven otherwise) that is such a hallmark of religion - only to see it resurrected again with a vengeance. In my opinion religion might as well be the single most prevalent threat to the betterment of mankind.
I don't quite see where hashes and recordsets help the compiler to catch your typos. As with both hashes and recordsets, you rely (for the most part) on some String key, which is a bit of a nuisance when a typo etc. happens. Oh yes, you can put the keys in a Constants class or somesuch, but this becomes a pain rather fast.
Not that I'd see this as the most gigantic leap ever done in programming, but it adds to a general repertoire of best practices, which, as a whole, is imho a lot more than just "coming back full circle".
colostrum
The thin yellowish fluid secreted by the mammary glands at the time of parturition that is rich in antibodies and minerals, and precedes the production of true milk. Also called foremilk.
If they manage my bookmarks, offering plugins for Firefox for instance, that allows said bookmarks to sit on their server and be available to all my browsers (home, office,...) in a "roaming profile" way... hell, I'd love that feature.
I beg to differ on what kind of level of abstraction your are operating. Chemistry IS NOT just physics, as there is a whole load of different aspects to chemistry IN ADDITION to physics.
Disclaimer: I firmly reject the is-of-identity as described in Alfred Korzybski's "Science and Sanity". See also "General Semantics".
It's an Enterprise JavaBeans (EJB) container, where you can deploy enterprise archives and... well, run them.
Think Tomcat, which is a container for web applications. Geronimo runs along the same vein but for EJB's. In fact it incorporates a Servlet/Web/JSP container of its own, namely Jetty.
I'm always wondering where you put the actual logic in this kind of setup. You write your business logic as XPCOM components in... what? C++? Java? Python? Javascript?
I was given to understand that Mozilla as application platform should be platform independent. But what about the actual code apart from GUI and the necessary wiring?
A possible tinfoil hat explanation is that this technology is deemed of prime strategical importance. Get the UN to ban it and continue to toy with it with black defense budgets. *shrugs*
So Microsoft pays up for the audit and they got to choose the place the audit takes place.
Is Newham some kind of poster-boy location for Microsoft? I mean hey, hell would freeze over if this "audit" shows anything than a clear advantage in costeffectivness for Windows.
When posting on public forums, how many of you think twice about posting your actual opinion because maybe something or someone might sue your ass off over it?
Only for those who don't speak german. Those who do see that actually the reverse is true, the draft has been TURNED DOWN. It has to be severely restructured before it will considered again.
Actually it's quite excellent news for those opposing software patents.
Color me paranoid, but maybe this was just some targeting practice at hurting Linux through the legal system. Up till now it was a roaring success. It stirred up a lot of fuss, and some are putting Linux on hold until the matter is resolved. Not a small feat for an obvious non-issue like the SCO claim.
Just keep on bombarding the community with stuff like that, and Linux will get tainted with "perennial legal problems". A library here, some kernel code there... and even if every single one of the accusations turns out to be utter bullshit, many people may get the impression that it's only a matter of time until one of the claims hits home and they get hurt.
Yeah, so let's aggravate it. Since we have to fight it anyway, a couple of centigrades more can only add to the fun right?
No worries, some of us do. Who knows, maybe even a significant portion will join in in the course of the next four years.

Any pointers where this legend can be found?
That's what ENUM (Electronic Number Mapping) is good for.
You can learn more about ENUM, the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), and the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) at this link.
More like a bible club.

Interesting diet.

And yes, it's Java stuff.

I guess videogames indeed help a lot with efficient, fast surgery... ... and, of course, the surgeon's nickname "Butch".
*not* the BSD devil, check out the link given in the story.
Great goatse.cx link, very inspired way to redirect.

I guess when it comes to reliable data-storage nothing beats good old pergament yet.

Quite interesting, isn't it?

One defined in a non-public DTD.

I'm afraid we are losing.
