Reminds me of when I broke our website at work. I lined up and tested a production patch, but then just before checking in hand-edited the diff to add an extra null check... ah well, lessons learned.
I was like this too once but when Eclipse tripled my productivity due to the various real-time compilation, code inspection, code browsing, or code refactoring mechanisms built into the IDE, I simply couldn't justify not using it.
That's fascinating, my wife is the same way. In fact she turned me onto HOMM3, but won't touch any other game. As far as I can tell she likes the mechanic of going around the map and picking up glittery things, and also likes the fact that it's basically a computer-managed board game, without the twitch factor.
I learned BASIC first. When I was shown LOGO, I wrote a few lines of code to draw a Sierpinski triangle, and thought to myself: there is no fucking way this can be this simple. It worked, though, and sure got me to appreciate the weird academic languages.
They are trying to cover up the fact that Fukushima melted down several days before the tsunami, and actually caused the quake. But they are not fooling me! *clutches tinfoil hat*
It kind of is wages, though, that and what goes along, i.e. the standard of living. To begin with, the working conditions in China are pretty bad, such as long hours and little pay. But then, there is this cultural attitude of obedience for the "good of the state" where people are willing to put up with crappy living conditions, small residences, living with parents, etc.
I wonder what it would take to teach the Chinese labor class to stand up for itself. Raising their standard would raise our own back up too.
The Windows/Office ecosystem the extended neatly across desktops and servers doesn't work on phones.
How do you figure? If they had official Word/Excel/Powerpoint apps that let you edit (even in a limited way) they would be a hit. Just because it doesn't work now it doesn't mean it's not possible.

This does not happen often on Slashdot, it was only this one story. The adjacent stories were all unaffected.
Yeah really. When I came home the day after I quit WoW, I was like, "Whew! I don't have to play WoW any more!"
That's how I knew I made the right decision :-)

Point is, the only Chinese creative he could come up with is not from mainland China, and went to college in the United States.
He's Taiwanese
Office hours from now on shall be 9-5!
If you thought Bill G was done, think again!
It mostly is already, but it's hard to enforce and people do it in droves.
Not to mention Tesla was played by David Bowie. David Bowie!

If you want pure, just buy undenatured ethanol. No gimmicks, just add water!
You hear it on the CD but not on the other 2 lossless formats? How???
It would be pretty hilarious if the effect on weather was that it created lots of rain clouds, thus making it inoperable.

Something that comes to mind from my drug dealing days is, "never pay in advance"

Well of course it's easy, they don't send people up. Being man-rated makes the space shuttle vastly more complex.

With competition like this, I'm starting to think Netflix producing its own content is a great move.
Burying is stupid, now that x-ray works again with Bukkit 1.3 someone will find it in no time.
