This is sad. What has been lost on the general public is the ability of people to "devalue" words, and thus remove the power they have over us. For a while I was quite hopeful when young black men in the rap community started calling each other "nigger". They were on the right track. The spreading of this activity would have ultimately devalued the word, and then it would no longer have any power. Unfortunately fools, invested in keeping the word profane started a campaign to reinvigorate its negativity and power.
Think about this. Why are there no profane derogatory terms for white folks? Simple. They don't let it effect them. Call them anything you want. Repeat it as much as you want. Won't phase them one iota.
Profanity is an illusion. Words do not have intrinsic power. It is we who give it them.
The only reason they are loosing money is b/c Congress won't let them raise prices to what they need to be. Look at the USPS 2009 annual report, the first page brags about being the cheapest postal service in the world. So is it any wonder they are loosing money? If they raised the price of a stamp just 5 cents they'd be in the black again.
No doubt, lobbyists from Fedex and UPS are paying off our politicians to sabotage the USPS. First they will get rid of Saturday delivery, which, contrary to the stated reasons for it, will actually further erode their bottom line. That will ultimately lead to full privatization. Shortly after that happens expect the cost of mailing a letter to quickly approach 10 times of what it costs today in order to pay massive executive bonuses and shareholder dividends.

So many Muslims actually believe it all as absolute fundamental truth in their heart of hearts. In this regard we can have some pity for them. They simply do not know better. And for this reason they tend to be less tolerant of other faiths. But we see this in all fundamental sects of faiths, including Christianity and Judaism.
But the religion is just a pretext. This is really about politics. Regimes seek to protect their power, which includes their own image of themselves, no matter who they are. This will manifest in different ways depending on the circumstances, such as internal power structure, perceived threats, etc. For example, they might not have anything happen to them if they say Judaism is fake, but if a reporter in the U.S. is critical of Israel they have to be very careful about their wording or they could very easily loose their job.

I like the show. I've watched it from the start and actually hated it at first, but after GIVING IT A CHANCE, I found a lot to like and have enjoyed it very much.
But now they are going to cancel it. Just like they canceled Heros, Jericho, Bionic Women, The Lost Room, Angel, Firefly, Enterprise and, for f* sake, even Star Trek: TOS. The list goes on and on.
The problem with TV is they keep canceling the fucking shows!!!!!!!!!! Who wants to watch any show they can't rely upon to see things through to the end.
So as of this day I NEVER WATCH ANOTHER TV SHOW EVER AGAIN!

Honestly if our Forefathers we're here to see us today they'd be ashamed. In their day, they would have long ago strung up these politicians in Liberty Trees and been done with 'em.
Peter is crying "wolf". This whole thing is a red-haring to further sell out valuable government services to private industries. If you read the USPS annual report, the cover page shows a price comparison chart with other countries, with subtext of the USPS priding itself on having the lowest prices in the world. Did it ever to occur to anyone that maybe they can't get in the black b/c you they have the "lowest prices in the world"!? I did a quick calculation on the delivery figures they supplied --raise the price of regular stamp 2 to 3 cents and they are in the black --and still tied for the lowest prices in the world with Canada.
On a genetic scale the egg formed long before the chicken -- like dinosaur egg long ago.
But even on a more "recent" time scale the egg came first. For clearly a not-chicken laid an egg and from it was hatched a chicken. Of course this was unbeknown to the not-chicken, which simply thought, "you are one ugly not-chicken".
To think otherwise would argue the the not-chicken did not lay eggs but rather gave live birth --which would not even be a bird. I'm pretty sure the Chicken isn't the missing link between Viviparous and Oviporous.
If it must be done, please levy the tax on the shipping, not the products. Shipping companies already have the infrastructure in place to handle this sort of thing. By levying a sales tax on every online ma-and-pa shop you will be placing additional burdens on small businesses --and many will close their doors because of it.
The first two, maybe three, seasons where some of the best TV I have seen. After that, like so many other shows, it was ruined. In the end the whole became just another pile of crap which will be utterly forgotten in short order.
It is very sad. And you would think people would want to make it better. But the problem is born of the way TV shows are created. You get a pilot. You don't know if it's going to take-off so you haven't put too much energy into the "whole". If it does take then you find yourself scrambling to come up with a couple more seasons, but still you don't put too much effort into a whole story because it might be canceled, so why bother. The whole effort therefore becomes nothing more than a series of enticements and cliff-hangers designed to get you back next week with little thought about how this will all sit with the viewer as a totality when the curtain finally draws closed.
Rather than a revolution in TV, as the TV execs would have us believe, I think they are in for a sad about face. If others feel anything like I do, the stations are about to loose a lot of viewers. After BSG and now LOST (not to mention Heros, Jericho, Bionic Woman, and many others) I feel betrayed one too many times. And I will not give them my valuable time and energy any more.
