Parts of the norwegian national budget is already set aside to compensate artists for economical loss due to CD copying. Yet it seems like a problem that you want to copy the contents of a CD you have paid for to your MP3 player.
How come a music CD costs a lot more than a blank CD-R? You are not even entitled to a license of the contents. If you break the CD you cannot have a new one for the production cost, meaning you don't have any rights to use the contents unless you use it from the delicate original CD.
I don't like the fact that a fixed amount of my tax money goes to artists I don't even like, especially when the same artists encourage the industry to leave me with the worst possible listening experience.
MPAA can finally get som hard earned cash from their clients without lawsuits. The company announced this morning that the new market that emerged from their monkey business, made the board reconsider the name - Monkey Porn Association of America, will help us reach our new audience. A spokesman told us he was pleased that the company had changed tactics after years of fighting evolution.
Tho there is a alot to gain in making one coherent system diversity have also proven to give good results, if the operator got a mind of him own that is. Google works pretty well for digging out information even tho there is no coherent underlying structure, there may be duplicate information, but there are posibilities to optimize such a system for a specific task, delegating control over information where it belongs rather than having anyone with a "security clearance" on the planet beeing able to tamper with it. I mean, some politicans are even regarded as secure!
Don't forget! a perfect system will only hold the data of only one person.
I always bring on religious proportions in my gaming, like burning entire cities, killing civilians and getting rid of evil doers. I usually go all the way to save the world from doom. If you bring more religion into games, then I guess we can cut taxes for building more churces, can't we? Or atleast have more video games for the money.

I've seen pretty screwed up perl code as well, code without any object orientation, code that is run from crontabs while it should be triggered from an event. PHP have some capacity OO wise as well. I like all gpl language implementations anyways, they don't have tons of lousy forks:)
I hope you are not supposed to pay for the benefit. I mean, just one linux installation is priceless. Tho if one could deduct the effort of installing one, I think I would compile Gentoo on my 386 with a smile.
I get your point, 'integration with the underlying OS', I guess it all depends on where you draw the line on security. None of XUL, SVG or QT are currently able to live up to the hype of XAML. In reality the only thing I've seen XAML capable of is to rotate a widget in realtime. On the QT side, there was a totourial on the KDE news a while ago on how to write all Microsoft's example code for XAML in about 20% of the code. So your 20 XAML lines will be 4 lines, when using QT:)
I guess the answer lies more in history (remember netscape?), as well as what will Avalon have to offer that Firefox doesn't already do? Even Microsoft show that they are embarrased over XAML, if you try to do a search for similar technologies one have to wonder why Microsoft can get away with their marketing of XAML. I mean, I thought XUL, SVG and QT all did the same years ago. What on earth does WinFS offer for a browser anyways? WinFS is nothing more than middleware. Firefox would try to avoid getting stuck in the middle...
the Information Technology Association of America released a poll showing that the majority of Americans trust those machines.
What was the name of the machine that made this poll?
DNA manipulation as easy as Photoshop Have these peoples even tried Photoshop recently?

It's the thought that counts anyways :) Clever signature btw :)

Isn't that an anti competetive practice?
How can one tell it's defaced?
Teaching the military about consequences may be a little far fetched.

With that said, I'm sure they are taken out of production again
In the Microsoft world this would be considered a feature.
the fedora people should atleast put up some serious warnings in their install guides.
:)
I think a headline on the biggest news channel on the internet should serve as a good enough warning
I guess that all depends on how much more they are willing to delay Longhorn (or Longshot as it's starting to resemble)

So how do I get a patent for using software in politics in the EU?

I've been positive so far, but my next vote is negative, we got the oil anyways

Considering his age I think he should go free and get a medal for highlighting a potentially more dangerous security hole, just like RTM.
politicians mostly also tend to be the same sort of people in all countries...

Pretty much what begged the question
How can one make sure he was not framed?
Also what international terrorist law is he going to be tortured for?

If GPL is unconstitutional, who needs constitution. :)
Sorry for that, not beeing an american I might not know what I'd be missing
If the code is there, say something. If not, STOP IT!!!
:)
Pretty much my point, the examples I gave where strictly hypotetical.. I mean.. There must be some logic out there..
