    Vanguard tried something like that.

    Vanguard throws in a diplomacy mini-game played through cards aquired through diplomacy questing, crafting and mob drops. Kind of an interesting sub-game thought it's a shame that Vanguard has intense system requirements to really enjoy it.

    I've been free of the Blockbuster fuster-cluck since 1999. A co-worker of mine that had the 3rd shift NOC watch told me all about Netflix and have been using the service ever since. If I need a new release right-now-immediately, I go to a Redbox for $1.05 a night. I can't believe that Blockbuster is still in business. I can't remember of any time that I had an experience that was any better than shitty while being a Blockbuster customer. In both the Baltimore and Miami area stores, the staff were lazy and always pushing a lot of crap at the counter. I recall lots of arguments with managers about bogus late fees. I recall walking along the external shelves looking at the amazing 6-8 month old "New Releases". Man that annoyed the shit out of me.

    Semi Off-Topic but exactly where does one start off learning to be a good DBA? I've been a "jack of all trades" IT professional for Windows and Linux for 15 years and looking to finally specialize. I see database administration as the direction I want to go but feel as though I only know enough to be "dangerous". And if you say MS-DBA school I'm going to scream ...

    My slingbox works pretty well with DirectTV and my DVR. Granted, it's not HD on my old Slingbox, but it works great at home on the wireless or across the internet when I'm on the road. I usually hook up my projector to my DirectTV box and pump the sound through the stereo but it also works from the laptop, using the sling.

    No sorry. My wife, five children and I do not collect welfare. Please don't confuse those of us that planned to have a large family as welfare recipients. And, while on the subject, please don't generalize that all welfare recipients are degenerates looking to increase the hand-outs. I've met a few single and young parents that now have to depend on food stamps to get by because they were recently laid off. You see, two or three retail jobs that pay minimum wage might keep the mortgage paid and the lights on, if you can even find one now, doesn't leave much food on the table while you or your spouse are looking to bounce back from being laid off because of tough economic times.

    I've had a Buffalo AitStation for about 18 months now. It's been up since the day I bought it. I must admit that it sits on a cheap APC UPS and only supports 3 wired and 2 wireless connections. Not bad for a $29.99 router to be honest ...

    Yes, it's petty but not being able to manually resize my text input area has annoyed the shit out of me. That and looking through the menus and plugin options to find what I thought was my user error. Pidgin is growing out of what I used to like about GAIM. I'm moving on and switching to Meebo.

    Huh? I installed Cisco's v4.8 linux vpn client for 32bit and 64bit systems without a hitch for both PIX and ASA Cisco devices ... what I see are tons of complaints about just the opposite. The Vista client is unstable and there is no 64bit working client for XP or Vista.

    I have been begging Verizon monthly and I have a feeling that it's not likely that we will get dsl or fios any time soon here in the mountains. I now know to do my homework on ISP availability before moving. It's a real shame that Comcast has to shake down their new customers but what makes it worse is that they do it with a smile knowing there are no other alternatives. Maybe with those Intel wireless developments posted earlier there is a chance. Or maybe I'll go offer one of the neighbors a shiny new wireless router and $15 a month to share their connection ... =)

    Let me be the first to say F*CK Comcast. I moved to southern PA recently only to get gouged with a $70 monthly internet bill. I don't have the option to switch to DSL/FIOS so my only other option is dial-up. No thank you. It's funny my neighbors (a lot of them) have a $24.99 monthly Comcast bill. The local ISP just before I moved in (SusCom) was bought out by Comcast http://www.multichannel.com/article/CA6279636.html and they get grandfathered into the same price. Any "new" service REQUIRES cable TV + $50 a month internet, totaling $70 a month. I'm an avid DirectTV subscriber because the Comcast cable tv service is absolutely terrible here. So I have to pay for cable tv, internet and DirectTV.

    You know what Comcast told me when I complained about the price, lack of options and their crappy service? "Move". Isn't that wonderful customer service ...

    US purchases through Amazon mp3 worked like a charm for $5. Nifty to also find out that Amazon MP3 can also be installed onto Ubuntu and several other linux distros now. Joy!

    It's not the most fun thing to do but it certainly something that can always keep you busy and you can never have too much of it as long as it is well written AND well organized.
