They also list their number in the recording where you can call back, which prompts you to leave a voice mail or to hold on to talk to a representative. I have been a Netflix subscriber since about 2000. Every now and then I would go to a Blockbuster to pick up a movie "right now" that might have been buried in my queue or just a spontaneous rental. I no longer use Blockbuster for these rentals because of the marketing and hassle just to check out. The barrage of upselling sodas, snacks, movie deals cards, etc when all I want is my movie and go. I still have an average of 30 movies in my queue and quite happy getting two movies every week but now and again still crave the spontaneous one in between. I am now in love with RedBox that is in my local grocery store and I've seen a few at other shopping centers. Actually, Windows Server 2003 SP0 has no firewall -- you get that with SP1 or R2 versions. So tone down your pwnt rant it's obvious you have not installed all flavors thereof and the ink on your MS cert must still be wet. To be perfectly clear here, let's go to the source, Microsoft. I've pasted the important bits after the link. No need to believe me, just google "introduction of firewall Windows server 2003".

    http://www.microsoft.com/technet/community/columns /cableguy/cg1204.mspx

Differences in Default Behavior for Windows Firewall
Windows Server 2003 SP1 includes Windows Firewall, which works the same way as Windows Firewall in Windows XP SP2. However, because the purpose of a server computer is to accept incoming unsolicited traffic, Windows Firewall for Windows Server 2003 SP1 is disabled by default.

The exception to this behavior is the following: for a new installation of Windows Server 2003 that already includes SP1 (known as a slipstream installation), Windows Firewall is enabled by default for the duration of the Post-Setup Security Updates, a portion of the initial setup of the server computer in which the latest security fixes are downloaded and installed from Windows Update and Automatic Updates are configured. After the Post-Setup Security Updates is complete, Windows Firewall is disabled. If you do not want the Post-Setup Security Updates, you can use the Unattend.txt file or Group Policy to configure Windows Firewall settings. The Post-Setup Security Updates does not occur if there are configured Windows Firewall settings.

You can enable Windows Firewall on a computer running Windows Server 2003 with SP1 manually using the Windows Firewall component of Control Panel, through Group Policy settings as described in Deploying Windows Firewall Settings for Microsoft Windows XP with Service Pack 2, or you can use the new Security Configuration Wizard in Windows Server 2003 SP1. The Security Configuration Wizard is the recommended method to enable and configure Windows Firewall and other security settings on computers running Windows Server 2003 with SP1.

The fact that I don't have empirical parental experience with kids of my own doesn't invalidate my experiences from when I was a child. I'm not here to say you are wrong -- parenting is a personal thing. I just find it amusing when non-parents go off the wall and tell parents how wrong they are based on their own upbringing / friends upbringing / co-workers children. I'm not an art critic and I have an understanding of what I think is art and what I don't think is art. What the guy who runs an art museum says is art is certainly more educated than I on the arts but I'm entitled to my own interpretations just as you are.

I do things differently then my parents because the environment has changed drastically. Things aren't the same when we were kids. Even if you are in your early 20s think hard what it was like "being a kid" in the world 10-15 years ago. The same reasons that my parents raised me differently than their parents and so on. When you are responsible for children, particularly your own, you will see things differently. I've been told that from other parents and adults when I was growing up and early adulthood before I had children of my own. Now it makes sense and it is instinctive. I don't understand the need for semantics to dance around "Spy on" and "Supervise". Software is not ample supervision. No different then baby gates or playpens -- they are not meant to provide a safe and secure area they are tools to assist with supervision. Or are these tools of imprisonment?

Two words. Trust and respect. --

Likely you fall into one of the below categories ...

    A) Have no children of your own

    B) Still a minor or recently "liberated" from your parents

    C) Live in a fantasy world and very naive

    E) Combination of the above

We are far from a perfect world and for those of you that think you should just trust and respect your children blindly, you are doing them a disservice. It's not my children I don't trust it's other people that interact directly and indirectly with my children I worry about. Family, neighbors, strangers, all of them.

It's not simply a matter of trust and respect from parent to child or child to parent. Kids are prone to make dangerous mistakes and as a parent it is my job to do what I can to best prevent them from making those mistakes or allowing others mistakes to harm then when I can. I didn't send my kids outside with a bike to learn to ride it alone; I was there every step of the way. Even though they are now able to ride alone without my being there to catch them and prevent every fall or accident, I still pay attention and check up on them as they cruise up and down the sidewalks.
