First of all, what's the problem if they are just throttling their free service in an attempt to actually make money, or at least cover their bandwidth costs?

Secondly, $10/mo is fucking cheap. Really fucking cheap. The company I work for spends about $100k/year on CheckPoint licenses and subscriptions, $100k/year on Cisco support contracts, and god knows what on Sun, Microsoft and Dell contracts. If the $120/year might save me 2 hours per year, it's paid for itself. If it saves me 3 hours, it saved the company money.

Despite what so many people on slashdot think, businesses don't mind paying for things and honestly, neither do I.

Congratulations on not reading the article and using flawed reasoning. The article explicitly states the sales figures are for 11 November to 8 December, not since launch.

Additionally, the fact that it's been out for a year means that most "hardcore" gamers who are the early adopters of systems already have playstation 2s, as well as most of the kids who've had a birthday this year. The fact that they're still selling like hell just shows how good the PS2 is as a console.

yeah, and VCRs will ruin the satellite television market. You're comparing apples to volvos.

The fact of the matter is that just because you decide that you don't like it (without even being exposed to it) doesn't mean it's not viable, or that I'm not sitting here thinking 'that'd be pretty dope if my next car had Sirius built in'.

I'd love if somebody would give me music that was good enough that I didn't have to keep piles of CDs in every car, inevitably ruining some of the CDs and losing some others, and only having a rotation of 20 or 30 discs per car.

This doesn't even bring up road trips... I recently drove to Ohio from Eastern Pennsylvania because well, flying from PHL to CLE doesn't make much sense when it takes 3 hours to clear security. It would've been really nice to not have to fumble with CDs during that trip. (they get hard to change safely when you're driving 120MPH after all)

So in conclusion, shut the fuck up.

I actually bought a bunch of these a few days ago, and your concerns are unfounded. The bulbs look similar to the old-school christmas lights, but they're not removable, since they aren't going to break or burn out for a few hundred Christmases.

I bought the white, which looks fine, I was standing next to a tree covered with the white LED lights when I asked a salesperson where I could see the LED lights, so I could tell if they looked normal or not. They look just fine.

As for the colors, they're pretty damned good too, though the yellow is well... yellow's just a weird color for christmas lights altogether.
