First of all, what's the problem if they are just throttling their free service in an attempt to actually make money, or at least cover their bandwidth costs?
Secondly, $10/mo is fucking cheap. Really fucking cheap. The company I work for spends about $100k/year on CheckPoint licenses and subscriptions, $100k/year on Cisco support contracts, and god knows what on Sun, Microsoft and Dell contracts. If the $120/year might save me 2 hours per year, it's paid for itself. If it saves me 3 hours, it saved the company money.
Despite what so many people on slashdot think, businesses don't mind paying for things and honestly, neither do I.
Congratulations on not reading the article and using flawed reasoning.
The article explicitly states the sales figures are for 11 November to 8 December, not since launch.
Additionally, the fact that it's been out for a year means that most "hardcore" gamers who are the early adopters of systems already have playstation 2s, as well as most of the kids who've had a birthday this year. The fact that they're still selling like hell just shows how good the PS2 is as a console.
Yeah, they've done a great job for me in charging $300 or whatever it was, not solving the problem, then closing the ticket with an unresolved answer.
Their support is a joke if you're asking a question where something actually went wrong, instead of it being a problem between the keyboard and the chair.
(Just a note, they have always refunded the money a month or two after deducing that they had no fucking clue what was wrong though)
It's fine for me... perhaps you should cut down on the amphetamines?
OOT: There's no such thing as a Comcast General Instrument cable box, Comcast doesn't make hardware. Secondly, the serial connector works fine with GI cable boxes, thus rendering the infrared blaster completely unneccessary.
I hate to bitch that slashdot sucks, because everybody knows that, but who cares about this patch? This isn't a fix to Mozilla, Konqueror, Lynx, Opera or any of the other pieces of software that slashdotters actually use.
Why does a fix to a program that nobody here uses, written by a company that everybody here hates matter?
yeah, and VCRs will ruin the satellite television market. You're comparing apples to volvos.
The fact of the matter is that just because you decide that you don't like it (without even being exposed to it) doesn't mean it's not viable, or that I'm not sitting here thinking 'that'd be pretty dope if my next car had Sirius built in'.
I'd love if somebody would give me music that was good enough that I didn't have to keep piles of CDs in every car, inevitably ruining some of the CDs and losing some others, and only having a rotation of 20 or 30 discs per car.
This doesn't even bring up road trips... I recently drove to Ohio from Eastern Pennsylvania because well, flying from PHL to CLE doesn't make much sense when it takes 3 hours to clear security. It would've been really nice to not have to fumble with CDs during that trip. (they get hard to change safely when you're driving 120MPH after all)
stop justifying your illegal behaviour because you want it to be "morally acceptable". Either you steal because you want to steal, or you don't. Period, end of story. Stop whining about how it makes your pussy hurt when you're not allowed to "try" photoshop before you "buy" it.
I actually bought a bunch of these a few days ago, and your concerns are unfounded. The bulbs look similar to the old-school christmas lights, but they're not removable, since they aren't going to break or burn out for a few hundred Christmases.
I bought the white, which looks fine, I was standing next to a tree covered with the white LED lights when I asked a salesperson where I could see the LED lights, so I could tell if they looked normal or not. They look just fine.
As for the colors, they're pretty damned good too, though the yellow is well... yellow's just a weird color for christmas lights altogether.
go outside, lay down some pvc and some plenum next to each other, turn on a propane blowtorch. that'll clear up your misconception that the only difference is toxic fumes. there's also a difference in flash point and burn rate.
STP has nothing to do with whether or not the outer jacket is PVC or plenum. UTP plenum is widely available, and widely deployed. Shielded cable makes for a nightmare of floating grounds that most people don't deal with properly.
This isn't directly on topic, but it's important so I wanted to make sure you read this.
USE PLENUM
Yes, it costs more, but it meets building code, and isn't nearly so flammable. Please don't be cheap and use the PVC stuff that will help housefires spread wonderfully just to save $100.
Yeah.... riiiiight. And the reason you're not listing the product is because you're full of shit. As somebody who worked in the cable industry, I can say quite definitively that there's no such product running at every headend in the US.
The RealTek 8139 PCI NIC redefines the meaning of 'low end.' This is probably the worst PCI ethernet controller ever made, with the possible exception of the FEAST chip made by SMC.
It then goes on and explains exactly why and how realtek design mistakes destroy it's performance so badly that you can't achieve decent 100Mbps performance with it without at least a PII-400 dedicated to pushing it.
Use truly free software
What the fuck?

This thing will be perfect for Embedded XP! The only question left is where can I buy one?
they said IT students, not CS students. IT students don't have to pass any of that good stuff.

The Linux Journal has a story on IT students... too bad you can't read it because the Linux Journal hired incompetant IT staff.
perhaps the serial control doesn't work, i have DirecTV, where serial works without an issue.
- You're wrong
- You're wrong
- You're wrong
- You're wrong
- Mostly wrong, mostly fixed
- What the fuck are you talking about?

The solution is obvious, boycott the Sony Playstation 2 until they change their attitude. After all, there are alternatives.

So in conclusion, shut the fuck up.

Perhaps there are two brands of LED Christmas lights, one removable, one not?

so young, so angry... have a valium

Why would anybody link to KPMG? They're overly litigious fuckwits.
Congratulations on your purchase.
Ummm... I went shopping for this shit on Friday of last week. Supplies of X-boxes were fine on 7th ave between 48th and 34th.
X-Box games, controllers, systems and accessories on the other hand are in every single store in midtown.
