> No, in DevOps there is no distinction between developers and QA. It's as insane as it sounds.
devops is just the systems team applying development paradigms to their jobs, moving from platforms like PXE/FAI etc to cfengine/puppet/chef with source control then all the tools that paradigm enables
recruiters might have turned it in to a single role for understaffed, underbudgeted companies to underhire with but just because they call an apple a tomato doesnt mean it is one
im gonna throw it out there and say devops was just a philosophy of applying development paradigms, e.g. source control to infrastructure, producing the code as infrastructure movement and paving the way for easier continuous integration with the ability to auto-build complete systems from scratch on demand
devops was never about merging the systems and development teams, ever
mm not really, it has more to do with successful delivery than lack of trust.
on one end of the spectrum you can formally spec out the entire system and wait a lifetime to get something that doesnt do what you want, using the waterfall model, due to too much involvement
on the other end of the spectrum you can describe what you want to the developers over a beer in the pub and wait a lifetime to get something that doesn't do what you want because of a lack of involvement
scrum/agile should be the lesser of both evils, 'hey, this week can you create the signup and onboarding flow, and login and forgot password please' where you break the big picture down in to meaningful deliverables you can iterate on to demonstrate constant progress to the stakeholders.
if it devolves to 'working harder' that means the entire team is unable to make correct time estimates or worse, is ok with being unable to make realistic time estimates.
sure there are some trust issues, the longer you leave it between deliveries or meeting your development team the more time there is at hand for things to go wrong, specifications to be misunderstood etc
you want to hire a development team to work on your project, pay them $30kpm and show up 12 months later asking why nothing has been done, by all means go for it
Both google and apple having to back peddle on price, at launch, for the dongles, shows that they dont know what the market wants and are having to react rather than lead.
I bought the iPhone 7 after my 6S+ was stolen. My next phone will have a headphone jack after the pain I continually go through.
Reading the article and having the tiniest bit of empathy, its quite obvious he's mad about the former, losing the address, as now he has to go through 20 years worth of contact communication and account data and transition everyone and all the services involved. My 1Password has 2800 sets of credentials the majority of which are associated to the same email address. If that suddenly was taken away from me that's 2800 password resets I can't do, 2800 accounts I can't confirm ownership of via email.. 2800 headaches.
It's a systemic problem with their entitled mindset. Fake news is no different from the fake rape and fake attack accusations that individuals have been making recently, only instead of being actioned by individual actors fake news comes out via more organised organisations.
They honestly feel that whatever their specific problem is, lying serves the greater good, which is a very childish position to be coming from.
and put HMRC out of business? Is this the way to end taxes once and for all?!
> Just because you bought Beats, we don't all need $200 headphones.
We especially don't need $200 headphones that sound like $20 headphones!

The age limit should be raised by 1 year, each year, effectively phasing out the industry.
