    a lot of stores in my area asks for zip codes. I usually make up a five digit number or give one of some town in another state.

    but not all phones have the antenna located in the area thats going to be held without some sort of shielding.

    apple could have easily taken care of this issue if they would have designed the phone properly. instead they wanted to sell 30 dollar cases.

    so what if the calculation is wrong or different between phones! It has nothing to do with the problem the iphone is having. If you normally have 4 bars with the wrong calculation, and you hold it and get no bars with the wrong calculation, then there is something wrong with the design of the phone, All apple is doing is trying to confuse the masses with technical facts hoping to confuse the issue and save money from all the lawsuits that are being filed.

    I was able to get online prices at the local circuit city store without any arguments. After they looked it up, they gave it to me every time.

    it's called marketing and has to do with name recognition. Most general users recognizes and will purchase from circuit city but not tigerdirect or compusa. Some users will purchase from tigerdirect but they will stay far away from compusa.

    What the customer don't know actually increase overall sales for systemax.

    it has to do with your personal data. Once they have your personal data (name, address, purchase history, return history and other info), normally it becomes a permanent part of their database. After the deadline, the only thing you can opt out of is their email list.

    how do they know what the daily temperature was every day since the ice age in every single part of the globe? Aint no way. True its been warmer but I really am getting sick and tired of all these so call experts who claim they know what the exact temperature was years before man even had a way to measure the temperature.

    And before someone says it, there is scientific means to estimate the temperature but there still the plus and minus factor thats a part of all estimates.

    So what if they are spending money against global warming. They have every right to spend money to rebuke crazy theories such as man causing global warming. The so call cause of Global warming is not fact it is only a theory that is being use by those for financial gain. The earth has been warming since the ice age. The less ice, the faster it will melt - that is fact. It does not need the help of man to melt.

    If you believe man is causing global warming then what caused the ice age to end? There was global warming back then otherwise the ice age would have lasted a whole lot longer.

    Yes, I do believe in global warming but I do not believe that man is causing it. Its just a cycle of nature.

    what I do is to view the pages I created in all the major browsers in both winxp and linux using different window sizes. If they look good, I leave them alone. If it does not work in one browser I will fix it.

    Netscape was once a good browser but it becoming too much of a pain to have to delete all the aol junk that gets installed with it.

    Why do I want something that is nothing but a billboard for aol when I can download and install the real firefox???

    If it is only 10 feet or so what good would it be, especially in a supercenter?

    But then thinking about it, would the chip really be bad? Shoppers give personaly information when they pay by check, credit card, discount card.

    I mean, think about it, if you shop at walmart and paid by check, they already have a database with your checking account and drivers license (in most cases it is your ssn). When you check out and pay by check, the upc codes tell what the product is and it is associated with your checking account number from the check. This is all in their database. Now the only question is what do they do with that info? They have it - no doubt about it.

    So I am wondering, would an extra chip make any difference to the customers privacy. It would only affect those nameless individuals who pay with cash and shoplifters.

    If I had a chip scanner, this way could drive up and down the neighborhoods and see who just got a new vcr, tv, xbox, playstation or whatever. It would be great for criminals because they can now keep track of who has what so they can steal to order - no longer random luck.

    I have one and it works better on carpet. It does not do so well on hardwood floor - miss too much.

    I also looked at the new kids on the block and it does not look like theres any difference in the actual cleaning. The original is still 199. the pro is 229 and the pro elite is 249. IMO opinion the only difference for the price is the accessories.

    However, when I get my robomower http://www.robomower.com and my Sony AIBO http://www.us.aibo.com/ , I will have it made.

    Even though I think a plane crashing because of cell phones and other electronic equipment is close to null, in some cases, I wonder if it is a scam to use and pay for the airlines services. However,I do believe there can be problems. Thinking about it, one or two cell phones or whatever may not cause a problem but what about 200 at the same time. Fortunately there are experienced pilots in the air.

    Just spend time in any computer help forum and you will run across people who are helped by moving their unshielded stereo speakers, cell phones, cordless phones, tvs, etc away from their computers or wireless networks.

    In fact that is usually one of the first suggestions when someone is having strange monitor/video card problems.

    Think about it the next time the screen flickers, get some static, strange temporary colors, or jumps or some other unusual problem that cannot be traced.

    According to the article the laptop will survive dropping 54 times from one meter, bake it in an oven, chill it in a freezer, vibrate it, and submit it to a shower of hurricane proportions but I am wondering if it will survive if a wrench fell on it.

    The missle silo is supposed to survive a direct hit with conventional weapons, survive near misses by nuclear missles, survive hurricanes, survive freezing, etc just like todays laptops. But it could not survive a wrench that was dropped on it.

    Seriously, I have seen those military laptops. They are pretty sharp - especially the ones with the touch screens.

    Unfortunately it is a bad idea. Several good points have already been raised and a couple bears repeating.

    1. Cost for the switchover, retraining of the instructors, cis administrators, secretaries, etc.
    2. Currently the workplace relies on Microsoft. Graduates will have to be retrain thus putting them at a disadvantage.

    My suggestion is for the money to be donated towards building a computer lab that is strictly non-microsoft in addition to the microsoft systems. This will give the students training with best of both worlds.

    OR the money can be donated to me and I promise never to use anything microsoft :-)

    All they are doing is helping the cable industry by pitching a hissy fit because they are not getting their way. They are losing customers and they will lose more because of their inactivity. More and more prospective customers are turning to cable internet services and leaving the baby bells out in the cold.

    For example, I live in a small town - around 9000. Southwestern Bell refused to start a dsl service here because it would be too expensive. They even purchased an ad in a local paper saying so. Anyway the local cable company now offers cable internet access so now if dsl service ever becomes available, swb will not have any customers.

    Remember anything you do on the internet could come back and haunt you years later because of the williness of surfers to ignore the ease in which businesses can change the tos, without notification, to anything they want. Google is no exception.

    I remember getting up early (4am)to play tradewars just after its daily maintenance. I remember LORD and getting killed just about every day. And I remember a chat program called LISA. You can carry on a conversation with it and it fooled alot of people into thing they were talking to a real person.

    I got into bbsing late in the game with my own Searchlight BBS and had the fake sysop chat program LISA. It was fun to sit and watch visitors who wanted to talk to the sysop talk to this program - especially the preacher who started with the romans road with her to try to convert her. It was almost embarrassing. Then Lisa started talking about sex so I had to "accidently" hang up on him.

    It was a good thing that garbage accounted for almost 90 percent of the disconnects in those days.
