Yeah, they really dopped the ball on transportation, which is widely regarded as the most desire place of improvement since sc2000. I think it was an attempt to sell an expansion pack, which is based on the Sims similar success. But, it had better offer a lot more than 4 lane roads. I am talking ground-level highways, more interchanges (including a T and a Y, clover 1/2 clover to regular roads, stack, flyover, etc...), and multiple types of avenues. One way streets, l-trains, and subway to rail connectors.

Clearly the designers of this game had no clue, despite the fact that the message boards were driving the cluetrain straight down their hallways daily about the lacking transportation.

Sometimes the reviewers do not take enough time with the game to get the full picture. A classic example is the progessive game like Simcity 4. This thing got practically glowing reviews, but come to find out it was a sluggish, bug ridden piece of junk as soon as the city got to any reasonable size. At that point certain buildings wouldn't show up and the frame rates dropped to around 1 fps - even on 2Ghz plus machines.

While most of the issues have been addressed in a patch that was released almost 3 months after the game was - it should have been panned by anyone who took more than a few minutes with it.

I sincerely hope it happens, because everyone will find out really fast how many millions of backwoods/redneck folk with guns are in this country with broken down trucks. Not smart, but if something is not done, this is coming. Yes there is a little sarcasm, but....

This sort of thing is widely acknowledged in among geeks - but having Joe-User types complaining in droves is another thing entirely. Wanna bet that Intuit trashes this in the next version - or does away with it in a new release?

The courts obliged and ordered the ISPs to deliver the personal details of the incriminated users. Then the bills were in the post ... landing on the mats of the unfortunate downloaders over the last few days.

There is an epidemic of misuse of the word 'downloader'. They are looking for people who are posting files. If you have no files shared, you are not seen and the only way you would be caught 'downloading' is if you were 'entrapped', by being offered downloads from the Kopyright Kops, if you will. Then they would record your name as you are downloading.

I generally respect the register, but the article is poorly written. This does not have to do with downloading, it has to do with offering your stuff up on the P2P networks for others to download.

It is less obvious, and more dangerous to give someone 95% of the truth, but leave out the 5% that really makes a difference in a persons salvation. I see it in constant biblical misinterpretations, which if the 'reader' would actually sit down and read the words to figure it out for themselves, they would be astounded at the amount of crap that is really being preached in the pulpit. Even some of the preachers themselves know they are not right (I know at least 2), but continue to tow the line for the sake of their 'job' Not a good thing at all, and it is so widespread - rooted in traditions that go back a thousand or more years, that it is impossible to disuade people in large numbers from it to the actual truth. Documentation is the single most important element of good coding, barring even design and structure. There is nothing uglier than spending a week trying to figure out the oddball paths the previous coder tried to take when the thing was originally written. It is a dagger in the heart of productivity.

The other point that deserves strong commendation is that of not 'evangelizing' some platform, be it Windows, Linux, etc... This type of activity is just as bad from the Microsoft people, as the Linux people. There is no one 'right' platform, and you have to work within the context of where you are for the good of the company.

After all, C++ is C++, even it appears more or less convoluted on different platforms.
