Pretty soon, you'll be saying NOT downloading and installing Gator and Hunterbar and the like is 'stealing' from the sites too, huh?

Bullshit. Helping a business that gave you the finger, and told you to buzz off, as "you were no longer needed" is not kind. It's stupid. Do NOT f****ng do it!!

If you left the company on your own free will, and you're on good standing with them (both them AND you), bill them.

Do not do it for free. Nothing is free. Employees are being kicked around enough as it is these days. Do NOT let yourself be taken advantage of like this. Never Ever Ever !!

  18. Games and Multimedia on What's Keeping You On Windows? · · Score: 1

Games are the biggest factor, no doubt. And as cool as the WineX project is, it's NO substitute for native ports.

Also multimedia. It can be SUCH a pain to get a DVD to play properly under a free *NIX, or to get browser plugins to just work without crashing the respective browser...

Hardware detection is also much more painful than it should be (in a perfect, vendor supported, world...)

Off course, I DO have my greedy little eyes set on a Powerbook w/ OSX. Who says *NIX can't pretty... and fun.. and easy...?

Naturally, my OS of choice is currently FreeBSD ;)

[Ranting, flame if you want... Corrections and thoughts would be most appreciated ;)]

I know you're paying to prove you say who you are, but what's the big deal here anyways? To me, certs are more about encryption than a form of digital ID.

The 'Certificate Authority' is just another scam to monopolize, to a certain extent, encrypted digital transfer of data. If my cert is OpenSSL with myself as the signing authority, the cert is no less or more secure than an 'official' certificate. And even if the site/program is signed by authority, that does not mean you are not being cheated in some way by the issuer.

Blablah, I call for a grass-roots movement demanding the power to self-sign code and sites etc... Who's with me??!? :p
