WOW, what a self-righteous douche you are!

My wife is Cuban. I live with my in-laws in Miami who are very much Cuban immigrants and don't speak any English.

I speak some Spanish. They get all their health care for free. As do the illegal migrant Mexicans my wife's grandmother employs on her farm in Homestead.

So, Nick Gorton, the next time you want to accuse someone of being a racist, make sure you look through the Internet machine to make sure the person you're accusing isn't actually multi-cultural up the wazoo! And don't think because you work with some "Latinas" that you get to plant the flag for diversity. Dumb shit!

My point was, it's just not remotely kosher that I get a bill, and illegal and some legal immigrants don't. Jackass.

A hospital sent me to a collection agency for a $2000 bill on a one night ER visit. I had a stomach virus. I was dehydrated and would have died without IV fluids.
now it's on my credit report.

That is not a bad debt. I don't owe that debt at all. If my name was rodriguez and I didn't speak english, I wouldn't have been charged at all.

  6. Here's the problem on Down Time At Work — What Do You Do? · · Score: 3, Interesting

At most places, if you have down time, management thinks 1 of 2 things: 1.) You're job is too easy and you need more work, or 2.) you're not working at all and you get yelled at.

During down time, try to look busy.

I used to work for a guy who was the president of the company, and thought of himself as a sort of royalty.
    I was a Unix/windows admin/helpdesk/database admin/tech support.

I would come in at 10:30 and finish my daily workload around 3:30 including daily projects he would give on a whim, such as "design this database for me".
Usually, I would stick around until 6:00 to finish up extra projects he asked me to do.

He thought because I was coming in at 10:30, I was cheating him out of work. He then made me punch a time clock just to punish me.

Any time after finishing tasks, I had to look busy, he really thought I wasn't working hard enough.

Since it was a medical billing company, he started asking me to fill in my down time by doing data processing.

What a tool. Goes to show you, down time can really be rough.

  15. Umm, did I miss something? on The Death of High Fidelity · · Score: 2, Insightful

They have been screwing up mixes since the early nineties way before mp3s were prevalent. Fidelity was a thing of the past way back in the past. Mixing engineers first compensated for everyone's crappy speakers and little tinny headphones. Then they started doing it for mobiles and mp3s. This is all at the hands of some moronic producer who doesn't understand quality. Compare anything mixed after 1990 with "Dark Side of the Moon". Nothing stacks up. Case in point. Norah Jones. Her first album was mixed very well. Her second album was mixed by someone with no concept of fidelity. And, yes, I have the system to fully enjoy it. My headphones alone can handle more of the spectrum than the human ears can.

Producers don't care about the music or quality or fidelity anymore. It's all about the dollar. "What can I sell to people?" This is part of the reason why I don't buy music anymore. The last two CDs I bought were both Paul McCartney albums. (Though "memory almost full" is pretty crappy.) I occasionally buy singles from itunes but that's it.

I like to think that my music is mixed well.
