Amen to that. What I want to know is why isn't Tivo or ReplayTV offered in Canada? I know ExpressVu offers a PVR service but I would like something to work with my cable. Does anyone know why we can't get these services up here?
Put on some powerful magnets on the back of one of these, and you got yourself a cheap internet fridge.
Yep, and after you corrupt all the data on its hard drive from those magnets, you can stick post-it notes to it and have a really expensive bulletin board.
I hear you, I tries several versions of Mozilla (up to 1.1) on Windows but always ended back with IE. Have you given Phoenix a try? I have used it steady for about a month now, I even made it my default browser, a status that Mozilla or Opera never achieved.
This is just another indication of the rot at this company. Over the past few years Time Warner management have been doing their best to destroy their properties. Entertainment Weekly, although always mainstream, used to have an edginess to it (Anyone remember "Is Dead God?" or "Yep, I'm Too Gay"), now its a snarkier People.
And what the hell is going on with CNN? What is this? the Children's News Network? Lame attempts to go for the 18-34 demographic ("we have a dope interview coming up" - this was actually said, I swear it) which is obviously failing judging by all the Viagra and Depends ads.
Someday that entire company will be a case study in not what to do: 1) Do not dumb down content chasing the "Jackass" market.
2)Do not do a stock swap with a hyperinflated tech stock.
And now 3) Do not wipe out most of your internet market in an attempt to prop up a sagging product line.
I work in a medium sized hospital in Canada, one things I have noticed is that one of the opthalmologists here who performs and advocates LASIK wears glasses, of course that might be that he isn't a candidate himself. But I did mention to another opthalmologist (different hospital) who is wary of the procedure and he told me he knows many opthalmologists who could have it done but won't, and some of them perform the procedures. The fact that many of the practitioners won't do it bothers me to no end, I wonder how many plastic surgeons who get botox injections.
How exactly does wearing a shirt whose front consists entirely of a gigantic "Tommy Hilfiger" logo ever get to the point where it is considered "cool"? Whoever managed to pull that off is a genius.
Americans are getting fatter because they're EATING MORE FAT, as well as eating more of everything else. The only fat statistic that's gone DOWN is the percentage of fat Americans are eating at part of their complete diet.
That's an interesting point, does anyone have a pointer to some research that might suggest this?
Yes the weblog community may be over-hyping this, but it is interesting. I would be very surprised to see any candidate from the two "real" parties take a risk by writing a weblog. Many candidates don't even write their own speeches and policy platforms, a weblog can be a valid tool for Joe Voter to get a feel for a candidate... assuming that it is actually the candidate writing and not some hired gun.
The "Kool-aid" comment is a cheap shot and even ironic, because if she were the Linux candidate no one from/. would allude to a cult though many others might. Its time to end the/. editors' "tags" on the end of submissions, thats what the reply button is for.
Your point is valid but those languages and english are related, I think the poster's comment referred to 3rd world and other non-romantic (is that correct?) languages.
I'm happy about FotR but I'm even more delighted that the most overrated film in recent history, Black Hawk Down, was shut out of best picture, even if Ridley Scott did get a nod.
You think you have it bad, at least you're not subjected to NTV , the local CTV affiliate in Newfoundland.
This is a station that has the worst picture quality anywhere in the western world, not only that but the network logo that sits in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen throughout the broadcast is larger than most and its in colour. That makes viewing stats a real challenge to say the least.
This station (because of the small market) usually doesn't sell out its ad space so they fill the remainder with videos of boy bands, give me sock puppets anyday.
No doubt you are correct in saying that there exists a market for these parts, however it may be worth mentioning that automobile companies are required by law to manufacture parts for a specific time frame. The alternative would be the auto companies would be able to force an "upgrade" by ceasing to make parts for existing automobiles.
Make your own judgement as to whether this legislative involvement is needed vis a vis software.
To delimit a path, *nix uses as slash, whereas MS* uses a backslash; if you get these confused it helps to remember that ampersand is a rounded "E" with a slash through it.
If AOL needs a new browser why not Opera? Opera is very fast, relatively small and reliable, the latest version even has a built in ICQ client. And I'm sure Opera would like a new revenue source.

One question I've always had about this technology is: How often do you inadvertently make one of your programmed gestures with the mouse? Do you find yourself browsing the web and all of the sudden a new window is opened, or you accidentally close the browser window?
Its happened to me a few times with Opera, to open a link in a new window you drag the mouse down, to close a window you drag the mouse down and right. It is a pain to want to open a new window only to accidentally bump to the right during the gesture and end up losing the original window. That said it doesn't occur often enough that I turn gestures off, I'm so used to it I do find myself attempting to gesture in other browsers.
Hospitals still use them here in Canada too. I can't believe no one mentioned Costco, at the one where I live every cash register has a tube station, the clerks can send off paperwork without leaving their post.
If it's too sunny the wings may warp (twist) causing an increase in drag and more problems for the autopilot.
As a Newfoundlander I can assure you the sun won't be the problem, The Rock, as we call the island, is renowned for its aversion to sunshine. We are even hosting an International Fog Conference this year.

The Internet thinks I'm some kind of impoverished sex maniac!
This is a pretty funny quote made even better by the fact that someone modded it as "Informative".

Wow, President Bush reads Slashdot!
Just wondering, If you're not a techie what do you use your 4 monitors for?
How am I supposed to read an interview with a usability guru written with fonts that small?
