You, sir, are a jackass. I personally think alcohol is one of the worst substances in existence, but your idiotic assertion that drinking is the cause of all depression is baseless, as I do not drink yet I suffer serious chronic/manic depression. Not to mention the fact that Europe has substance abuse problems just like anywhere else. I actually agree with some parts of what you said, but the way you worded your post makes you sound like a hate-mongering idiot, which I'm forced to assume you *are*. I'm amazed people like you can survive, constantly trying to piss off everyone even if they agree with you.

What about good old pen & paper games? I play D&D regularly and it's quite a bit more fun than pretty much any computer game I've played. Obviously, it has that pesky "need to have friends" problem, but if you happen to not be a complete hermit it's the best gaming experience you can have. As for computer games, I play a lot of different things, but I think rogue-likes are my favorites. Especially Zangband. :)

I personally think the U.S. would be a better place if we just threw away all the bullshit laws and stuck to the Constitution, but that doesn't mean you have to *like* everything. I would say so. AIDS, VD, etc. Worse yet, what about when a prostitute gets pregnant? Then it's not only self-destructive, but also brings another person into the world only to destroy them as well. It greatly disturbs me that fewer and fewer people understand that.

You obviously misunderstood me. I'm not referring to just story elements and such, I'm referring to what made Doom and Doom II fun, actually exploring the levels trying to find secrets or "easter eggs". Think about it, when you first played Doom, did you rush through it or did you roam around trying to find items and making sure you found every enemy? That's what people seem to forget to do these days. Of course, it would helped if Doom 3 had the end-of-level splash screens that showed how many enemies/items/secrets you missed. (Anyone care to try making a mod to do that?)

Yeesh, did you *ever* try to get into the game instead of playing it as a mindless shooter? If you actually looked at/listened to all those PDAs and video disks you find, the game has a very detailed story and some damn good voice acting. Not to mention the numerous secret stuff scattered about (which most people apparently didn't find since a lot of people claim it doesn't have any). How sad a world this is when people can't enjoy a well-made game just because they don't feel like actually *trying* to enjoy it.

Yeah, damn supernatural ghost pr0n. But seriously, how exactly is it "not natural"? Last time I checked porn doesn't just spontaneously pop into existance from some alternate dimension or something, it's created with naturally existing people (or if you're a sick twisted pervert, animals) doing things that obviously someone had an interest in. Just because you don't like it or it seems wrong doesn't make it "not natural". Until you find porn from a parallel universe or starring supernatural beings, it's all "natural". A lot of it is just really fucked up. (On a side note, I try to write intelligently and avoid over-used curses and such, but I really don't think there is any other adequate way of saying "fucked up".)

Actually, I'm the youngest in my family (only one sibling, an older sister) and it's reversed. She is the one who is very concerned with "fads" and believes she is incapable of doing things on her own; while I've been called "eccentric" by most people, and not only am capable of doing things on my own, but actually prefer to, to the point that I will not ask for assistance and many times will refuse it if offered. I should point out that I was not treated like a "normal" youngest sibling though, because my sister was very sick when she was born and as such, my parents were much more attentive to her than me from the time I was born, so I quickly learned to enjoy solitude, even as an infant. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I was neglected, I'm glad they left me to myself, though my psychology studies seem to indicate that my "freedom" as a child is the root cause of my aversion to socializing. Anyway, I'm getting way too introspective here, so just to reiterate my original point, not all youngest children end up the way you were saying.
