Which is one of the reasons I don't use them. Both McD and BK are painfully slow with long queues, even in the drive ins. At KFC it is fast though, I always get what I order instantly. Don't have to wait in queue 5-10 minutes and then another 5 minutes for them to make what I order(usually how it goes at McD). At least at McD they are good at finding the table I am sitting at when they finally have made what I ordered.

Most of my friends see the irony that McD is called fast food. And now I only visit them once or twice every year. They are not fast enough when I am in a hurry to make up for the low quality meal you are getting.

I can't see why I should have "opt-out" of the nannyweb, If you must sell crippled lines then sell them as nannynet connections instead of internet connections.

  4. Silence or? on Self Contained Water Cooled Radeon X1900, Retail · · Score: 4, Informative

When I looked at the pictures, my first thought was that it would not be more silent, since it still would have to move the same heat, while it might be good for overclocking. But I guess that there is a possibility of it running quietly since there are a bigger surface area for the air to move the heat than on a normal GPU cooling fan and heatsink.

I made my own PC watercooled about 1½ year ago with the purpose to make it more silent. My idea was to cool the CPU and GPU using both passive and active cooling.
I got a radiator from Innovatek.de for passive cooling inside and a small deep one for the inside for active cooling with a Papst fan.
Then I got a microcontroller that can run on its own, measure the water temperature and control fans, as well a a emergency shutdown if the water gets too hot or the pump fails.
The end result were fantastic, the PC runs almost silent when doing anything than playing games(which I don't do much anymore) but when playing games it still have the power. It manages to run mostly with passive cooling when not playing games. It is so silent that you have to look at the power LED to make sure that you have turned the PC on. When I do play games and the water starts heating up, the microcontroller starts the watercooling fan and adjusts the speed to keep the temperature down.
On mistake that I did make was that I went into it with my usual approach of reading tons of reviews on the internet to find the best cooling CPU/GPU heads and generally getting parts from different vendors that I determined would make the best solution. Exept from the internal radiator that was deeper than any other I could find, I can now see that it didn't matter which parts I used when I was not going to do overclocking.
It is better to stick with parts from one vendor so you don't have problems getting them to fit or work together. Like different sizes of tubes etc. Also the microcontroller from one vendor could not monitor the pump for another.

I thought my X800 were cool, but I must admit that the latest year, I have found other things in life that were more important to me than having the latest grahics card. I don't even play games much anymore, so my purchase of the X800 ended up in being a waste of money, plus have this "funny" bug of the 2 pixels in the lower right of the screen, being duplicated across the first line on my HP LCD screen.(Problem first shows when installing the ati drivers).

Second, it seems that all new cards are PCI-Express. I have a 3.2 GHz machine with AGP and with the lack of development in processing speeds(and the lack of more speed for non-gaming purposes) it seems unlikely that I would upgrade my motherboard.

  7. Re:So true... on Mac Mini vs. Media Center · · Score: 1

I agree, I would REALLY like a Mac Mini as PVR, but I don't think it is usable for me.

I have been searching for info about it's PVR features, but I haven't found any.

It seems to lack two things:
I want to be able to record two channels at one time and I guess that can be solved by two USB tuners.
I want TV schedules so it can record series without me having to specify recording times. And I doubt that it will be possible to get TV schedules for Scandinavia.

I have a Media Center right now and with the rollup package 2 which works fine for me. It is the only PVR I can buy that has TV schedules for my country. Even the harddisk recorders does not have it.

I could go for a opensource solution, which I tried, but I am not in the mood for a box that requires lots of configuration on my part(like figuring out how to get TV schedules on it, getting the remote to work etc).

But it seems like the right thing for Apple to make a PVR now. With possibility to subscribe and download TV series(US only, so I can't use it) from Itunes(?), this device fits nicely into their with their current products.
