Was there a reason that Valve kept Vivendi in the loop? They have steam. They can distribute online via that. Is there such a thing as an in-house boxed release for retail outlets?
I really will laugh when someone cracks the authenticaion for single player play and releases the iso + crack before people who actually *bought* the game can play.
Valve really needs to find an alternative to Vivendi./-McK
That's funny. When the 1st article about Va. Tech building this machine graced the pages of Slashdot someone posted the signup page for students of Va. Tech on Slashdot.
I'm not a student at Va. Tech.
Hell, I didn't even graduate High School...I found it much more fun to follow Bands (and the BEATUIFUL girls that follow bands) around the country.
No-one checked that signup list against currently enrolled students. I showed up and helped build the 1st machine. The one with the original G5's. I helped pull the cable, place boxes and install those ram chip laden Infiniband cards.
Karma and the morals I learned from running around the country eating grilled cheese sandwiches kept me from liberating those ram chips from the Infiniband cards.
NDA? I signed nothing. Futuristic hardware that the public is not to see? Yeah whatever. It was all off the shelf stuff. The Infiniband cards were shipped in from (or at least the boxes they were in) were stamped Israel.
The closest thing to oversite at these pizza parties was an Apple rep. I think he was too warped by the Jobs distortion field to notice what was going on.
Heck I had my camera phone on the whole time. I could have taken pictures.
Do you usually whip out your camera phone and take pictures of the stock on Bestbuy's shelves? Apart from the Infiniband cards and some of the Cisco gear, I've seen everything they used at the local computer store.
I've got a HUGE roll of tinfol at my house if you want to stop by and borrow some.
Well I did some *research* on this topic just now.;)
Ebay hides all adult items in a catagory called "Mature Audiences". There is all kinds of stuff in this catagory. Sex toys. Elargement pills all kinds of stuff.
However not ONE single auction in this catagory allows paypal as a method of payment. My guess is that the forbid it entirely...even on ebay
As long as these acess points are shipped with encryption turned *OFF* by default this is like pissing in the wind. It could be 1 billion bit one time pads and woulnd't make any difference. In my neighboorhood there are 10 unencrypted networks....all on the default channels. Out of the box straight onto the network is how they are set up. Joe Sixpack doesn't have time to deal with encryption.

Last time I checked NetStumbler itself certainly didn't do any WEP cracking. It will give you a whole bunch of info about the WAP. However collecting packets and cracking the "weak" packets was not something it was designed to do.
I was about | | far from ordering a "directivo" as they called it from Directv. (yes i know they are RIAA evil and sue anyone). There just isn't an competition in my market. Charter runs the cable company and they can't keep the cable up without an outage for longer than 24 hours. That left me with a choice between Directv and Dish Network. Where is Directv going with this? I don't see anything in the article about a directv PVR replacement for the Tivo partnership.
Speaking of partnerships are we now allowing &partner=google on the main page?
If you are going to do something this complex you are going to have to close the analog hole. Next thing you will have to have the speakers surgically implanted into your ears...so that you can only hear input from an "approved" device.
I agree on the "concept album" thing, however when i listen to the White Album I cue it with m3u and listen to the whole thing. It would stand up to random playing better though. Perhaps it's just depends on the person. However I really think it has alot to do with newer "albums" if they can be called that...are filled with alot of filler and thus no-one even attempts to listen to the whole thing.
Dark side of the moon should be listened to in from begining to end. Alot of "good" albums should be. Perhaps it's not the attention span but the fact that new albums mostly suck.

I was afraid someone was going to chime in and say that. I want my @gmail address damnit! I would imagine there are no targeted ads when you use encryption? Or ads for commericial encryption packages? That would be rich... How did you get selected for the beta? Or do you just have to be "in the know". I can't wait to get my hands on this!

I just want to know from a slashdotter if the beta is all it's cracked up to be. I've seen a few screenshots and some blathering about the GUI...but is it really that cool? Is there a NDC so you can't talk about it? So they are going to target ads based on e-mail content...what if you encrypt? Is this against the user agreemnet? I just hope they can keep this together without becoming EVIL (read shareholder value centered) Inquiring minds want to know.
This idea of their own currency sounds awfully like the plot of this book. I don't really think that is possible in this age. Even in the book it seemed a bit far fetched to me. Who knows though...I'd love for them to prove me wrong. Give me Google cash!:P

I've seen him talk about playing quite a bit over at his site. Seems like poker has become sort of a *geek* fad as of late.
Personally I perfer the odds at the Blackjack table. At poker yor aren't playing against the house though.
I suck at poker. I have a tell...no I'm not going to say what it is in a public form.
If your on a multi-head windows machine check out Ultramon. The ability to have a taskbar on the extra displays is worth it.
I want a torrent of the 23 meg file!

RTFA...Again
from the usa today sorce:
"Kurtz's 45-year-old wife, Hope, died of apparent heart failure and her death is not believed related to the suspect materials, authorities said."
Screens...looks like most people were smart enough to blur them. I guess there is a chance someone would make a mistake and let you see it tho.

On a side note it's good to see Shaolin Soccer get refrenced. Funny flick.
Name a bunch of files as pictured in this graphic:

Just a bunch of garbage data. See as the entire network goes down. End of mpaa software.
