I can assure you that the device does conform to the AVC Tuner standards. I should know, I wrote the initial drivers for testing the hardware on Mac OS X (for EyeTV 300 though)...

Having to reenter a large formula just to change a constant is a pain with RPN.

That's why you should use variables on the HP48 for that kind of thing...

In school in electrical engineering, I had a huge set of formulas and constants stored in a directory on my HP48GX, all I had to do was to change a constant, then push the right formular onto the stack, press ->NUM once, and had my numeric result (even complex numbers) there, which would have taken at least two sheets of paper by hand.

Nope, they're using HFS Plus for the Mac version and FAT32 for the Windows version. (There's full read/write-support for both in Linux 2.6, does that mean they're GPL, too? ;) )

If iTunes relies so heavily on OS X specific libraries then how do you explain the Windows version.

It was easy to port iTunes, because the original version uses the Carbon API, which was mostly ported to Windows a while ago (under the name "QuickTime").

Note that Apple has a Windows-port of Cocoa, too (called "Yellow Box", it's used by WebObjects).

That's not really what iTunes is about, iTunes is a music management app, which happens to be able to play them, too.
