I remember reading that this is why a lot of people dealing with depression sleep all the time. Somehow their brain realizes that it can solve problems when they sleep, so it makes them tired. Of course there are other factors (namely chemical) why they sleep, but this contributes. At least in some cases.
But this has been known for a while. Well, not known, but assumed? There were several mathematicians (I thought one was poincare, but I don't think so) that often spoke of how they would only solve problems once they stopped thinking about them and let their subconscious chew on them. One of these mathematicians said how he proved whatever theorem after a day vacation to the beach when he was stepping off the train.
I love fvwm. Used it for years (i use sawfish now just because I'm a huge lisp fan). I love fvwm's stability, flexibility, etc etc. everything you cited.
But easy to configure? Hardly. Spending hours hand coding a fvwm2rc can be immensely satisfying, but it sure isn't easy especially to the new user.
well the 4 is a lot closer to the 1's. so it really does save a lot of finger/dialing wand movement dialing 411. It's just a more efficient way to live.
exactly. there was a quote by the founder of va linux on revolution OS that was pretty funny. he said something like (paraphrasing obviously) "graduate students spend all their time making their computer environment so productive that if they actually ever sat down and worked on their thesis they could finish it in one day."
Their music, lyrics, and presentation all were very inventive and creative. They've had a definitive influenced on what many considers the best popular music of the last couple years. (radiohead, primus, sigur ros, air, etc, etc).
I'm guessing you were thinking along the line of "it from the 80s, it must be bad!". Well, it's not (they formed in 1973, i believe) and it's good.
yes, everyone is very technically capable. I work at a place called CIT which basically takes care of the mail/dns/timeshare/etc at the University at Buffalo.
"So your security team was savvy enough to have sniffers for strange traffic but didn't have a firewall secure enough to prevent the machines from getting compromised in the first 10 minutes?"
Where I work, I'm not behind a firewall at all. Everyone is responsible for their own machine (ie. running their own firewall). It's not feasible to do it any other way.
Generally, I'm pretty upset when slashdot posts a direct link to the copy of ToasterOS when some poor guy's Toaster who just built the tcp/ip and webserver for stack for it. (Personally, I think it's ToasterOS's killer app).
I would like commend thenextpresident and simoniker for NOT posting a direct download (a mirror would be nice though;-). I'm sure Kernel.org appreciates it.
Maybe/. should do that all the time. Let the commenters post links, which would really encourage torrent links.Maybe?
"(recompiling your kernel on a blender takes surprisingly long)"
I don't know what you're problem is, compiling a kernel on my blender (Blendfast 2k3 HT-compatible) is faster than on my current machine (athlon tbird 700). Note: my blender cost much much more than my computer. The blender is much faster (Basically due to the hyperthreading) that I cross compile the kernel for my computer on my blender.
I'm guessing you either need a new blender or you have way too many optimizations enabled.
That's a valid point, but I think the poster was really commenting on how sites that ARE content driven are using flash and it's just getting in the way.
my guess is that you're about 15, online trying to sound smart. in about 5 years you're going to realize that you aren't a genius, and that you aren't smarter than everyone else.
if you are older than 15, then you're an arrogant asshole.
btw, reloaded was a terrible film. it was boring, cliched, had terrible pacing, the composition was terrible (read: architech scene), no character development, and just because you throw in some arcane bibical references doesn't make the movie smart.
i mean yeah, when you just have to get information down quick, it does the job. But when I am taking my writing seriously, I use a quill plucked from an angel wing and the blood of a unicorn.
i have had this idea for years
it's so obvious.
Lameness filter encountered. Post aborted!

It was not Sofie Germaine so I say he.
thanks for clearing that up.

Have you ever listened to a talking heads album?

Hal Warren directed, wrote, produced, etc etc etc Manos. I like Manos just because this guy loved it so much.
Jesus christ, don't look on google or something. Just write into slashdot and wait for people to tell you.
I'm so sick of this, if I could turn off Ask Slashdot I would. No I'm not looking it up, I'm waiting for Ask Slashdot: How do I turn off ask slashdot.
Anyway, my best guess would be a printers. Good luck with your game.
