It also takes a lot of effort to climb to the top, so people who were persistent for the last 20 years are at the top. I am a scientist, and I do not see black people around. I can not imagine doing anything else, but I "wasted" last 20 years working ~70 hours per week and my compensations for the first 15 years was below earnings of almost everyone I know.
I have a friend, she is great scientist, but is unable to find faculty position because so many people have experience that black scientists are not willing to work 70+ hours per week (as everyone else do).

Another car (not CNG) that is fuel efficient will not be sold in the USA in 7-passenger version (Ford C-Max).
So for 7-passenger vehicles I am left with minivans that use tons of gas.
