I checked out your company, I am not impressed. Decent Privacy policy but Blackhole has a nasty Acceptable use policy.
Allow me to quote:" Use Black Hole Internet facilities, services or resources in a manner that does not interfere with or disrupt other network users, services or equipment. Such interference or disruption includes, but is not limited to:
Sites that promote any illegal activity or content that may be damaging to Black Hole Internet servers or any other server on the Internet. Links to such materials are also prohibited. Examples of and not limited to of unacceptable content or links include pirated software, "hacker" programs, archives of pirated copyright software, any kind of software or shareware, any illegal audio/video (mp3, illegally recorded samples etc.), any MPEG or MP3 content or streaming (i.e. Real Audio or Real Video) content of any kind.
Pornography and pornographic related merchandising are prohibited on the entire Black Hole Internet network. This includes sites that include links to pornographic content elsewhere. "
This effectively eliminates 1/2 or more of the sites on the net, including Slashdot. Not my idea of a good(tm) internet provider.
One thing people are forgetting is that MS outlook clients are 100% FREE for all machines that connect to an Exchange Server. You don't have to pay for the client piece, it's all handled in the CAL's (which you have to purchase for every machine that connects to the Exchange server regaurdless of the platform you are connecting with.
Gateway online is no more, they are converting all their (L)users over to AOL'ers. I was shocked and dismayed when my freind told me he was told he needed to switch to AOL (free for a year for the hassel) from his Gateway Online service because they were shutting down.
You all must assimilate into sub standard net connections.... What a joke
I've been dying to find a classic video game store that I can reliably order games and systems from. I don't like the idea of ordering on E-bay because of some previous experiences and forget about finding this stuff locally. I'm all over this when ever it finally goes live.
That would take all the fun out of mudding.
I loved playing the old muds for months at a time only to advance my charachter a little bit and always have new challenges. But in a OS I'm not sure I want that fun challenge all the time.

I've had absolutely nothing but bad luck with Ameritech. They screwed me six ways to sunday and I could really do nothing about it. Story is this, they were contracted to provide DSL to one of our buisness locations in Michigan, I'm in Minnesota. I called them and asked when it would be installed, I was told absolutely positively that it would be in by date X. I flew to Michigan to setup the office and sure enough on date X it was still not installed. They said ok we'll do it on date X+4 so I stayed out there (much to the delight of the airline which I paid $100 change fee to not to mention hotel meals etc) on date x+4 they came out and installed the line, but it WASN"T LIVE! Long story short, I went home and they finally made it live on date X+60. Meanwhile the guys in that office were stuck with 2 computers on a 28.8 dial up. Bottom line Ameritech sucks so for the love of god avoid them at all costs!
I know quite a few companies that would be more than happy to hire females rather than males and quite frankly would rather hire females. It's all about how you present yourself and can do your job. If you aren't getting the respect you think you deserve maybe it's not because you are a girl. I don't get the respect I deserve and I'd be hard pressed to find anyone in the IT industry that does and it's not due to gender, age or even ability. Generally IT workers are underappricated by management because management doesn't understand what we do.
150 mph isn't that fast.... depending on the skill of the driver and the type of road. Don't belive me, look at nascar or drag races. My motorcycle takes me way past 150 mph but I've never killed anyone because I wasn't in an area to do damage. I was on a track that was equipped to handle such speeds. Now for the segway to the net.
The internet is like a race track if you can't handle the load you need to, then get out of the race. Slashdotters are legitimate people (except for the trolls) that wish to view the page, if the site can't handle it perhaps they need to reevaluate their site. Slash dot irresponsible I think not, more like irresponsible web hosting.
While you can't get reembursed as if you had won the jackpot or really legally get reembursed at all you do have some recourse. You can simply ask for a slot manager / technition to look at it. Casinos are built on the idea of you having a good time and if you are soured on an experience you will tell your freinds and generally not patronize their establishment anymore. So if you complain (legitimately) they will generally give you your money back and sometimes more.
Case in point at the Flamingo Hotel I had a machine where I did win but no money was registered on the credit balance. I complained and not only did I get my coins back they played 4 coins for me which won, I ended up with my original 4 coins and 8 more to boot. Belive me this is 100% buisness strategy that works.
MS is also saying Natalie Portman in Hot Grits will never happen due to system incompatiblities (no intel inside) and Beowulf clusters are a figment of your imagination. Furthurmore legos are made of people and linus is actually a woman!
Ok thats it I promise now I won't ever need to flame ever again, I've learned my lesson.
Looks like the authoritative DNS's are screwed up.
Here's the whois on slashdot.org

I was 13 (1991) and we had just gotten AOL when I discovered the original NWN and I ran up our monthly charges to well over $500 on one month. By far the best online game i've ever played. (I perfer thought out strategy over running around madly killing people.. though I do enjoy that too) I'm curious as to why you say this will not be the replacement for that intriguing and challenging game?
Fortunately the rival telco guy was nice and pointed me to what needed to be punched down. Usually though it's just as easy as hitting the pairs in the right order in the right place, if at first you don't suceed try it again... till you run out of slack.
Correction:
You can: To an Extent protect the look and sound of a motorcycle. HD won a suit against Honda over their CBR-500 Custom model yr. 1980 I belive motorcycle. The bike was a standard CBR-500 but it had a customized exhaust system that perfectly echoed the HD sound. The CBR-500 wasn't pulled but the Custom line was because it was too much like a HD bike.
How do I know? I used to own one. But I'm glad I finally stepped up and got a 2000 Yamaha R6. Custom exaust makes it growl and its faster than Troll's. (just beware of squids)
I downloaded the toolbar plug in from google last week and there was so much banter about how it sends information back to google and that they have the possibility to see what sites your visiting that you couldn't help but realize whats going on.
Privacy concern? Not really because if you don't like it don't download it.
What went wrong is that the phone companies are used to making allot of money. At the expense of customer satisfaction and quality they try to squeeze out dimes here and there.
God forbid you ever have to deal with two phone companies at once (as I did once). I waited till 4 am (they were supposed to be there at 10pm) only to have an AT&T rep tell me that the job was done, despite not having a connection yet. I was told that US Worst would need to come out and punch down the last portion of it. So being new to all this I ended up punching it down myself with a puny screwdriver (untill I ran out of vodka that is). It all worked fine but boy did I catch hell from US Worst for touching their lines.
I agree with one of the other posters that says Parenting is the best solution but otherwise it really needs to be regulated manually by each WAN (or modem) connection manager (be that the IT department, or a parent). You don't like it, block it. As for libraries and public institutions, have a policy regaurding what is appropriate and what isn't. I have manually bocked inappropriate sites with the use of a monitor program and a few DNS entries (yes all the "bad" stuff goes to either www.barney.com or to a buisness ethics web site). This means yes I do have to check out every site in question but one person doing that for a group of 150 people seems more than adaquite. If you find you have to block too much and there is too much inappropriate material being accessed a trip to a manager (or child) should solve the problem.
The shear beauty of this is that they essentialy made enemy's with the wrong people. They whine about infrigment of copywrites by geeks who converted their product into a freindly digital package (something they never thought was economicaly viable.) Then they ask for our help?
What tops the cake though is that when they do release their technology there are hundreds of thousands of people that will be out to break it just simply on principle!
Whatever encription, water mark etc they use it won't be good enough. Everything is breakable with the right equipment and time. (and geeks have both).
Suck on that RIAA, MPA and anyone else who pisses off the geek community.
I own a PS2 and I bought one of the wireless remotes (sucker)I'm not impressed by the operability of the DVD on PS2. It's a clunky little interface and not all the buttons are labled correct for all the movies. And the remote is really just a wireless controller that has all the buttons mixed up.
But on the other hand I bought it as a gaming system (for $300 and if you paid more then your a bigger sucker than me for buying that remote.) It does kick ass for games and if you deny that then you either got bamboozled into buying a Dreamcast or need to wake up and smell the reality that is NHL 2001.
I'm going to get an annoying call from BMG AND an e-mail from Napster every day asking if I want to enjoy 12 music downloads for the price of 1 with nothing more to buy ever?
