yep, still have my 300 too, it's been a while since i used it, but i think my battery clip was a bit wonky too. it was useful for a while, but i kind of got sick of the same music repeating ad-infinitum.
(I got in the habit of loading it with new songs every evening before going to bed so i could pick it up & take it straight on the train.
I gave up using it after a year, the lack of memory (oh wow, an extra 32 meg in the flash!!) really shitted me off after a while.
If some dumb schlep gets a trojan on their pc, do you think they are going to notice the filtering?
Quite possibly not, and they may well ignore any "please stop" emails from their isp. But sure as shit doesn't smell like roses they are going to sit up and take notice when Bigpond say "not until you clean your mess up".
It's for reasons like that that so many trojaned pc's are still out there.
Honestly i can't say that i've come across that particular glitch, but i can understand it would irritate you. Good luck, google is your friend i guess...
I use Win2k on my desktop at home as it seems to have the greatest stability of anything i've used thus far. Mind you i do keep reasonably vigilent in the avoiding-viruses/spyware arena. I use Win98 on my laptop as that is the oldest OS i can get away with on it (my wifi drivers just wouldn't talk to win95 at all:-\).
And yes i was generalising in my grandparent post, but isn't that what we do best on slashdot?;-).
I try and avoid using XP as much as i can as i dislike the crufty interface and bloat that has been introduced. And don't get me started on the a-wizard-for-anything-you-need-to-do ness that XP can try and shove down your throat from time to time.
I'll stick to network support, the last time i did desktop i was sure i was developing an aneurism (not really, but it felt like it).
Abelit being slightly offtopic, half of those people running older OS's probably don't give two whits about newer software (my girlfriends grandparents pc is still running win95 OSR2!) and the most complicated thing they have done is write aodoccument or print out an invoice.
The other half just accept their pc is getting slower and slower with all the cruft (and spyware too?) and other crap that is slowly killing their systems.
Then again i doubt anyone here is running anything older than win2k/ Macos X unless they are a tightarse.
(this is where i mention my laptop is a P120 running Win98)
I have to agree 100%. I was going to post something on the page saying that all those "cl1ck meeeee" links were pitiful and if they *really* wanted one they'd get off their arse and go out and BUY one. (un)fortunately the page wouldn't let me make a submission, i am suspecting my work proxy decided to do something the server didn't like.
Either that or it's been slashdotted good'n'propper;-).
That sounds like some well designed software, not.
Not taking into account that some companies have purchase order schemes that could take the better part of a month to get approval for things like new licenses. At least the ones i dealt with gave plenty of notice, unless im mistaken oracle is pretty nice about giving you enough warning.
I can only put it down to one thing, *greed*. Surely they could have done something slightly smarter than this though? Perhaps cut in the new version and say we no longer support the old version and leave it at that. But something like this is just mallicious & greedy.
On a side note I'm hearing a lot of mention about if the software goes through intuits server or goes to the bank directly, i have no idea which is true.
If i had been thinking about using their service to do banking in the past and found out that it used intuit's servers instead of going directly i would have dropped them faster than a hot potato.
On this note i should admit that i've never really been able to use the financial software for more than a week before going "stuff it" and giving up.
It's come to that? cripes winword 2 never gave me that extent of grief. But then again we would get pulled up for americanised spelling of things. We were expected to pull out a dictionary if we were unsure of the spelling.
But i was raised in Canberra and they are the hippiest place short of Nimbin, i mean, Pot being semi legal?;-) My point, uhm shit i don't know what i was trying to get at.
The one thing i like about k-meleon more than any other browser is that the full-screen mode allocates far more screenspace to the actual rendered html than any other browser i am aware of.
I think they just mean K-Meleon is another quality browser for anyone that wants to have an alternative (to the i.e. masses) browser.
I've been using K-meleon for a year or two, it runs nicely, and i've been slowly noticing improvements in speed and quality within that time. However i've read some people say it's even faster still in this latest build. It's tempting to install this latest build on my laptop at home now to see just how fast it is compared to the old release (P120, 32mb ram, etc..)
who the hell is/was he and why do you keep talking about him?
and no it friggin isn't me, though i've got the same bloody name.
i have to agree with all of the above, though i haven't tried drowning mine (yet).
only tip is to make sure you have ECP (or better) enabled on the parallel port in the bios as that speeds it up a helluva lot.
but nowdays ffs my digital camera has more flash on it than my rio ever did (ok, in a SD card, but still)

sweet merciful crap, you guys think too much.
I think you will find that that's called a "threesome".

Sometimes what i see on here reminds me of a thousand monkey's typing at a thousand typewriters.
That is way cool!! now if only i could get the video files working i'd be set.
It's amazing, i remembered it being a dupe too
(the amazing bit is that i remembered it was, rather than just going "gee cool!!!!")
Ahh, a use for your tin foil hat at last!!!
Not to be a bastard but it sounds like those people are the type you'd HOPE contributed to darwins theory by snuffing themselves.
Did anyone actually manage to spin off a mirror before it got /.ed?
Firstly may i suggest you get back on the Zoloft.
I tried to read this but with the carrying on line-after-line like that i couldn't get more than 3 lines into it without my brain turning to mush.

Which looks pretty nifty i might add.

oohh ahh haha i get it.

It's still spelt incorrectly
retarded? no that would be if you had a 186! ;-)
I'd say that they basically have taken over, look at how much technology is a-ended out of japan.
