We implemented a system like that 6 months ago, hasn't caused any problems yet. It makes us more efficient on little things, and for bigger things, we'd still go up and handle it face to face.
So, what, they were supposed to put it in an.sxi people without Open Office (read: almost everyone that has a computer, certainly most their audience) can't read it? Supporting open source doesn't mean everything you do needs to be open source. Because I work with apache, and advocate it over IIS, doesn't mean I'm going to chuck Dreamweaver and Photoshop, or not deal with.psd files.
Just because the format is open doesn't mean its the best solution. I'd say they should have made a pdf, but thats just me.
It being his job isn't a defense. I could be hired to kick little kids down the stairs, and because somebody's paying me to do it doesn't make it legal.
Thats unrelated to whether the FCC should be playing censor, but being hired to do something doesn't make it legit.
The one I used to work at in Laurel, MD did all the time. The Music at Starbucks comes from compilation CDs, or tapes at our store; we held onto that thing for dear life since the CDs (and I use the term loosely) were more a proprietary mp3-type setup, that expired after a certain time. We just kept collecting the old tapes, and played the good ones while mothballing that bad new ones. Sometimes a good one would make it into our arsenal, but more often not.
Because product testing takes time. Good testing takes lots of time. The cost of the testing, and time involved, has very little to do with what new features were added or changed, os it works out far better for people who test their products, if they have releases less often.
USB makes the computer actually do work, while firewire ports handle it themselves. For a normal user, not much of an issue, but over a couple drives, you'd notice.
They have Xgrid rendering in Shake already. Runs under under Qmaster, which came first.
And it makes a certain amount of sense not to have it in Final Cut. The data transfers seem like it would far outweigh the benefits of the extra processor power without some serious interconnect.
That said, I can't wait for Apple's to actually do it.
Well, they do have their clustering setup for larger systems, but I'd just like to say over a couple years of running Communigate, we haven't had that happen.
I see your antidote, and raise it one cluster reference.

I wouldn't exactly call that a fundamental though.
I agree in principle, but only if you consider "pay" to include things other than money. If I could get the same job, with a 5% pay cut, and only have to commute 5 minutes to work instead of an hour, I'd take it in a hear beat. 2 hours of my life back, plus less wear and tear on the car/parking fees/metro fees, I'd definitely be ahead.

You really could have just left it with "Most Linux distributions make it very difficult to install the OS"
It doesn't over here. Everything using https fails, in its attempt to create a secure connection.
And the Tiger DP hasn't actually been out 2 weeks yet.
So they just invented X-windows, or nfs?
No, he's saying he's not qualified to decided what I'm able to hear.

We don't even get a watercooler....
What speed a mac do you think you'd need? We might be able to help you out.

Hey, you're right. Not how I personally would describe it, but case studies show otherwise.
No, its not breaking and entering. Its just trespassing.
Maybe, maybe not. It also puts me into a pool of people with significant health problems, as opposed to the healthy pool I'm in now.
Heath care isn't free, its paid for out of your taxes.
Probably makes it easier for them. Lots and lots of sites use SSLs, and most of them won't make the Spyware vendors any money.
Agreed. Even better if they're all pulling from the same source, say, an XRaid via fiber channel.
Thats probably because service men on the ground aren't allowed to speak to the press without higher approval.

The client license only applies to AFP (and possibly Samba) connections.

Couldn't agree more. Few things beat the long number pad and keycard combination.
