So you have to download an application to program the card. That's the part of my statement about "effectively locking it out" from another device, seeing as the other device typically will not have the application/driver pre-loaded with the low level commands to see that the card has been password protected. The card ends up showing up (or not?) as junk/unusable.
Part of the SD spec allows you to assign a password to a card, effectively locking it out of any other device (that can't send the low level command + password to the card.)
Offtopic, but I haven't found a head unit yet that will do gapless playback. I'm not worried about seek times when I'm skipping tracks - I expect a break in the audio then because the unit can't anticipate that. However, going from file #1 to file #2 on the deck should be as seamless as possible, even if they're recorded in different places on the media (Nero used to burn my MP3 CDs "backwards" with regards to files in folders, e.g. file 13, file 12, file 11 etc. I now use imgburn). Even with tracks in line, my deck still pauses between each track to find the next track.
I've been trying to find a good place to look at reviews for non-CD decks (clarion makes a few, so does pioneer I think) that take SD / USB and aux. If any of those are gapless, I may just have to upgrade (in addition to saying goodbye to CDs in my car forever, which is NOT an issue for me.)
So you still need a third wire for a neutral reference is what I was getting at - even if it's not run the whole way back to the pole, you need a wire to ground. So, that still makes it 3 wires to the equipment and not 2... but now I'm just being nit picky!
I think the whole point of safety systems on cars are for the majority of drivers on the road that haven't been through any experienced training and/or haven't had to experience wheel lock up or a slide in a car.
To add, I had a teenager pull out of his driveway yesterday with me about 150 feet away. I was on my motorcycle, and it's the first time that I somewhat did a panic stop and mashed the rear brake a little hard. Since I've taken the motorcycle safety course - and was given opportunity to do the same on the smaller bikes - I feel that I had the bike under good control, even though the squeal of the tire caused me to jump a little. In this instance, where my mind isn't truly thinking and my body is just reacting to "I don't want to hit this kid" ABS would have assisted in not sliding the rear end of the bike.
Even a somewhat experienced driver/rider (I have about 2500 miles under my belt on a bike, countless more in automobiles) has situations to where computer aided vehicle control will help. Are they required? No, but they definitely make you feel more comfortable if you find yourself in a situation that you don't expect. Not having ABS / traction control or stability control in a vehicle isn't a bad thing, and to reinforce your statement somewhat - you just have to acknowledge that you should go slower and be more cautious. The variable that you cannot control though is other drivers unexpected maneuvers when traveling no matter the vehicle.
1995 z28 had the ECM on the firewall in the engine compartment. My 99 Grand Marquis (I know, not GM but still) has the ECM under the hood as well. Gonna go work on a Blazer today (think early 2000) and will look for the ECM, but I'll bet you that it's in the engine bay.
Most cars that I've seen nowadays put things like BCM/Light Control Modules in the interior just because it makes more sense from a wiring perspective.
A police officer is not allowed (just like any other citizen) to threaten violence against another with a deadly weapon without valid reason to do so. I'd have to believe even verbally threatening this (as well as if you were actually NOT a police officer) would be extremely stupid for your career and your financial health.
e-brake or not, if you have a car that you're still working on you should always chock the wheels. It's still a work in progress and if he wants to make sure it stays put, that's a definite must-do.
Why would you need a tron suit? From what I can tell you could pepper your body with these devices and run around naked.... looking like you're in a tron suit.
At some point you still need to access main storage, which is still slower than the 50 gigs of memory you have. And if you want to write something to permanent storage? Well, back to that bottleneck you go!
I've actually seen this issue with wifi. With the laptops that work uses, the green bars icon at the bottom can show 4 green bars - indicating that the user has good signal. To the laptop only.
If you look on the controller/access point, there are times that the user's laptop is having severe difficulty reaching the AP - hence even though the user has 4 or 5 bars, the AP cannot process any packets (they're garbage) and the user's applications don't work.
I think that the cell towers/phones work the same way. I don't believe that there's a communication from the tower to the cell phone saying "you're coming in at 20db S/N" - the phone is just displaying how good of a signal it's seeing from the tower. That's it......
I had a person blacklist me from her profile because I challenged her opinion on a mutual friend's status update (had a fuck or ass or shit or something "evil" in it...) The woman was asking the mutual friend not to swear on facebook - and he's in an alternative/hard rock band. Which, if I recall, uses profanities in their lyrics on occasion - and I thought it was kind of interesting that someone that close to him would actually request him not to swear.
She threatened to report me to facebook... of which I replied that me disagreeing with what she said didn't mean it was an internet bannable offense. I actually took a snapshot of the conversation because I found it so amusing. I wonder if I'll laugh at that as I look through my photo archives in 40 years.... lol
GM had the EV-1, not the RAV4. Toyota = RAV4.
You successfully caused my eyeballs to bleed with that.

I'd like to see how you get two hots and a neutral out of 2 wires.
If the internet made Chuck Norris mad, he's just roundhouse kick it into submission.
Sounds similar to a motorcycle - the deceleration on dropping the throttle to idle is a lot different than a car.

I think the real issue is that the "not a car guy" guy doesn't understand how a boxer engine works....
Squirrels that are married? Holy shit, have I been living under a rock!

One more than 9 mA per hour, I'm guessing.

They'll probably FEEL funny too after that. You know. Down There.
You forgot to tell me to get off your lawn.

Just did my own - "linux is shit" and "ubuntu is shit" and they both trend pretty closely...
But there's no picture in your link! It must have a picture or I'll lose interest!!!!!

I think Spectre hid your posts here on Slashdot. Just sayin'
