My clan has been playing UT2k4 in competition since 2005/2006 and it's definitely an awesome game; lots of fun. Especially if you are halfway decent at hitscan.
We've grown tired of UT3 however (only one of our team has actually purchased the game, but from the grumbles in the community, it isn't worth it for the style of play we like.) We've all but transitioned to Team Fortress 2. Has just the right amount of teamwork and "solo-playability" that lets everyone play to their advantage.
We've tried BF2142... Can't say I liked it. However, for some it's good because of the strats involoved. I'm more of a run-n-gun kind anyways....
Your comment makes me think that your brakes and/or tires aren't enough to stop your car, but enough to keep it going (unstoppable.)
I've got a Grand Marquis. It gets a bit loose in the rear if I am not cautious when there's a good bit of snow on the ground, but I've never felt uncomfortable in it in the snow. I live in mid-ohio, however there's a lot of FLAT land out here, so even with snow on the ground, you can typically get to where you need to go without the need to even put on snow tires/studs etc. Rear wheel drive with Traction Control is really a good idea.
I drove a Z28 for 5 years and to be honest felt much more safe in it than even the Grand Marquis from a traction in the rear standpoint. Manual 6 speed and many many years of driving clutch vehicles gave me a lot of controlability in that vehicle.
You making the memory card comment reminds me of trouble I had with specific games - Square games - and 3rd party memory cards for the PS1. I had FF7 (or FFVII for purists) and Parasite Eve. Every now and again the saves would be corrupt and unreadable; back then I'd only use up one slot in the save menu. Imagine my frustration in playing for 4-5 hours, saving and coming home from work the next day to find my save bashed.
Oh well, it did make for finding all of the extra items in PE more fun! However, using the genuine "sony" card I never had one problem.... Of course, the third party card had absolutely no problem with any other game.....
The TI was pretty sweet in Assembly Language, but in it's interpreted BASIC mode, it was horribly horribly slow. I moved on to a Coco3 - it's basic flew, and it's assembly language was easier to wrap my head around (TI needed you to map out your registers to RAM etc.)
At least he placed his e-brake on after that event.... wow.
Looks like some of the lug bolts sheared; possibly from the wheels having too much material between the rotor and the nut? Not sure, looks like some simple stress fractures (blurry video) but my question would be - why did all four fail at once?
Your direct link will take us to any of the creative mp3 players. I'm guessing you got a stone. Anyways, props to Creative - I've owned 2 of their players, and they've all been fairly solid; only problems I've had is this:
1. Zen Xtra 30gb:
a. Sometimes gets scratchy in the left ear on turn on - have to cycle power to get the DAC to reset (and it's not the well-known loose jack issue...)
b. Selecting songs (after having the device for 2 years or so) sometimes will pause the unit.
c. If my cell phone is near it, it will turn itself on when the cell phone rings (found that one out today!!!) 2. Zen Nano Plus 1gb:
a. Gets crazy around my lawn mower - will sometimes shut off (interference?) Absolutely 0 problems otherwise. Takes 1xAAA.
They're solid players, and very decent DACs. However, my newest player is a Cowon D2 - takes SD/SDHC cards (just got an 8gb SDHC for 40$ AR) and will play properly formatted (320x200) video! Even though it's a tad more bulky than the micro, it is still comfortable for a trip to the gym. Oh, did I mention it gets around 50 hours of playback (music) and will play FLAC files if you're so inclined? Also plays flash games... the list goes on and on.
Just like most others here, I have a nickname that is probably a little bit off-putting for a perspective employer. So when I finally decided to start seperating e-mail addresses etc; I use something similar to firstname.lastname@gmail.com for my "real" identity. And I never blend any of my other e-mail addresses; I also never use the gmail account for business (purchases etc.)
I would never post my screenname/alias on a resume. NEVER.
I was going to just post the states and whether they are 2 party or 1 party (see middle of link above) however Slashdot kicks me out with a Lameness filter. Derp.
Ya know, I used to be totally unsympathetic on the subject of addition, until I read about the real physical effects it has on the brain, and its chemical balance. You probably didn't mean "addition" but that single sentence had me rolling. Thanks!
Actually, it doesn't look like he went bankrupt trying to sell it - he actually likes the 24th century interiors; it's just that he set up a business doing the same interior remodelling. With credit cards. And it didn't take off.
Tony Alleyne, 52, spent nine years and £30,000 transforming his flat and used another £100,000 to launch a company which offered similar makeovers. But the schemes were funded by loans and credit cards and he has filed for bankruptcy with debts of £166,000. To speak to the actual article here though, building a home theater is a fun experience - especially enjoying it afterwards. I would have to wonder what the pricetag is on the star-trek based theater; however against true Slashdot fashion I did read the article and there was not even a ballpark estimate given.
I'm running it on a laptop with a 1.7ghz single-core centrino (p3m?) and an ATI mobile card (not really that powerful) - which I would doubt run Portal decently, at least not on medium/high and it doesn't have a problem with it...???
Not the best solution, but if you have to have a power brick with the older one, you could supply the vehicle with a reasonably small (is the ps2 100 watt?) inverter and use the same smount of space, right? Either that, or if you're capable, you could replace the internal power supply with your own (as long as you're not a soccer mom or similar.)
Along the same lines, went to a major chain recently (the wife's car) and they recommended having the air filter changed because it was dirty. 40$.
Air filter was replaced 500 miles before for a total cost of 9$ and my 5 minutes. I'd be willing to lay money down that they didn't even crack the cover on the filter. Heck, the car has less than 15,000 miles on it. I'm actually impressed they didn't recommend the flush and fill too.
My neighbor gets to blow his mind every night with legalized drugs (alcohol and smokes) and since he doesn't keep his door shut, he continually annoys the neighbors. Including me.
One night he was revving his vehicle. At midnight. Claims he was trying to fix a broken fuel pump. Sorry, that's not quite how you fix a fuel pump. Regardless, I confronted him about it and he politely agreed to cut it out.
Fast forward not 20 minutes later and he's back at it again. I go back out and just stare at him, and he acts like I'm stomping on his liberties by yelling at me "So you think you're a tough man, eh? We've got a tough guy here." I told him to leave me alone, I wasn't wanting a fight. Proceeded indoors and called the cops.
So in my mind, sometimes drugs seemingly behind closed doors can cause problems for others; Alcohol seems to cause a select few in the population to think they can do whatever they want and not worry about the consequences.
Subsequently, he did apologize to me for this incident. But even tonight he was making noise (likes to holler "WOOOOO!" when he gets blitzed.) Makes me feel for the next set of people to own the house I currently own.
The "afford" Vista would be the true reason I won't run it.
In addition, the only benefit I have as a person who runs windows (for games primarily) is DX10; even that at most is not all that compelling. Plus - for "ultimate edition" the price still seems over-the-top for my own needs.
On the laptop I'm typing this on - I dual boot ubuntu (90%) and Windows XP pro (10%) - there are only a few small apps that I truly need windows for. Emulators come to mind - since the Linux side of emulation seems less polished than I would like. If I could, I'd run Ubuntu on my gaming machine - however, my investment in Windows gaming necessitates Windows. And Vista just doesn't appear to add anything that I'd need. I'd be more than open to hear the benefits of Vista and decide on that, but it seems that most geeks that I run into (the group I would be considered in) don't see a good enough value in Vista either.

Perhaps you mean a more direct link like this?

+1 Relevant Sig for you!
What sound do people on rollercoasters make? Hint: it's not Xbox 360.
Man, that was truly an awesome site.
*spoiler*
Had me thinking "are they for real?" until I clicked "No thanks!"

Make sure you're in a one-party state before you go recording all calls.

the History Eraser button!!!
Yea, I realized that after I posted.. :( Still think it would be neat to even see what the theater would cost.
I really need sleep. I read your post quickly and thought you were implying the previous poster was eating kittens.
Look up Cowon's audio players. Got myself a D2 (flash based, 4gb or 8gb now with a usable SDHC slot to boot!)
Ubuntu 7.04 upgraded to 7.10, never installed flash to it myself that I recall - if I did, it was within the past 6 months....
You chefs also forgot to shut off teh boldz!

Apparently no one is a fan of Kenny Rogers - or his brother, Renny Kogers.
