I agree. Unless they are in need of capital in order to expand the business then why IPO? If they are already profitable and need to expand then they could use some of the profits for expansion. If there are no seed money investors who are eager to cash out (a la Google) then why not keep the company? An IPO should not be the goal that every company strives to achieve.
And I have visited, so I am familiar with it. The current campus and offices are very nice. They will be moving soon though, so the facilities will be different.
From what I can tell this is a compromise between a real 4-year university education and a cert mill. It seems to focus on practical application and building a portfolio more than CS theory. They do take classes other than CS, but the emphasis is on the CS classes. You certainly can't get a minor in English Lit. Since I got my CS degree at Stanford I tend to look down on it, but for many people this is a great way to go. It might not be right for you, but for some it fits the bill.
I agree. This sort of technology could lead to interesting remixes similiar to the Jar-Jar free Ep1. Imagine Pulp Fiction in a different order or a version of AI that ends at a different point. I think this has a lot of potential for creative uses beyond simply bleeping out four-letter words.
The HoR is working on legislation that will authorize the use of players that filter objectionable content. While many/.ers see this as censorship, others view it a gaining the right to consume media in a way that is more Free.
I agree. I read the article yesterday on CNN and thought that the "tracking" claim was bogus. I think it is aimed at discouraging kidnappers who have seen too many Tom Clancy movies. I doubt that they did more than put in a small RFID chip that has a range of 10 cm at most. They could track his presence at a doorway, but they wouldn't know where he is if he isn't passing very close to a reader.
What this is really going to do is cause the kidnappers to cut both his arms off to make sure they aren't tracked.
I know it is very hard for a parent to willfully let their daughter (or even son) give up their virginity, but you have to face that it is going to happen whenever they want it to happen, whatever you do.
You are implying here that parent have no influence, though you spend most of your post discussion the merits of what you believe to be good parenting. Do you think that there is nothing a parent can do or say outside of (gasp!) religion to cause a child to willingy decide to postpone sex?
Do you think that male virginity is inherently less valuable than female virginity? Why? Is it because they have to live with fewer consequences of sex? Isn't this attitude promoting irresponsible behavior?
If you set the expectation for your children that remaining chaste until marriage is an impossibility, rediculous, or of no value then they are more likely to fulfill your expectation. The converse is also true, however I will concede that children who are taught that pre-marital sex is inevitable are almost 100% certain to have pre-marital sex, while those who are taught to wait for marriage are not nearly 100% likely to do so. However this doesn't mean that it is futile.
No, Timothy is an editor and it is his job to edit submissions anc check to make sure they are accurate. He should read the article and make sure that the blurb lines up with it. There is a big difference between saying that the magnetic field is just about gone and that it is slightly weaker.
So he is making 5-channel Dolby Digital sound tracks with his MiniDV? He is also making his own 2-hour movies where the quality matters that much?
In any case most people are willing to accept an approximation of DVD quality and reasonable sound. Even if you take his figure of 1.3GB as fact, that is still considerably less than a DVD and not an entirely unreasonable amount to download, especially with clients like BitTorrent.
Most recently, an elector in 1976 voted for Reagan rather than Ford. He realized that Ford could not beat Carter so he voted for his favorite candidate from the primaries. I believe the elector was from Oregon.
I am not sure that is still the case. Also, I distinctly remember when they had the international tournament of champions that players would buzz in almost immediately, after Alex had gotten one or two words out. That might have been a rule change for the tournament though. The better players would probably appreciate being able to buzz in early.
How thrilling to watch some other family argue. I can do that in my own home just fine, thank you.

testing!
it's a trap!
Report it to the authorities. Alternately, post the info here on /. and then don't worry about it. Somebody will do something, and it won't be you.
When is it going to be on TV?
You seem very intent on not revealing your home country.
Is word creation in English substantially different than in other languages?
many short command names have their origins in the teletype days, where saving keystrokes meant saving significant time.
Your logic is craptastic.
Your situtation is certainly more complicated than the original poster's, who is simply lazy and/or stupid.
Just curious, why did you last name change when you got married?

What movie? Just curious.
So you have seen a 650MB MPEG4 generated from source rather than from MPEG2?

He was probably assuming that the missions would last for 90 days total.
What was the final jeopardy answer (ie clue)?
How did you do on the show?
