How thrilling to watch some other family argue. I can do that in my own home just fine, thank you.

I agree. Unless they are in need of capital in order to expand the business then why IPO? If they are already profitable and need to expand then they could use some of the profits for expansion. If there are no seed money investors who are eager to cash out (a la Google) then why not keep the company? An IPO should not be the goal that every company strives to achieve.

From what I can tell this is a compromise between a real 4-year university education and a cert mill. It seems to focus on practical application and building a portfolio more than CS theory. They do take classes other than CS, but the emphasis is on the CS classes. You certainly can't get a minor in English Lit. Since I got my CS degree at Stanford I tend to look down on it, but for many people this is a great way to go. It might not be right for you, but for some it fits the bill.

I agree. I read the article yesterday on CNN and thought that the "tracking" claim was bogus. I think it is aimed at discouraging kidnappers who have seen too many Tom Clancy movies. I doubt that they did more than put in a small RFID chip that has a range of 10 cm at most. They could track his presence at a doorway, but they wouldn't know where he is if he isn't passing very close to a reader.

What this is really going to do is cause the kidnappers to cut both his arms off to make sure they aren't tracked.

I know it is very hard for a parent to willfully let their daughter (or even son) give up their virginity, but you have to face that it is going to happen whenever they want it to happen, whatever you do.

You are implying here that parent have no influence, though you spend most of your post discussion the merits of what you believe to be good parenting. Do you think that there is nothing a parent can do or say outside of (gasp!) religion to cause a child to willingy decide to postpone sex?

Do you think that male virginity is inherently less valuable than female virginity? Why? Is it because they have to live with fewer consequences of sex? Isn't this attitude promoting irresponsible behavior?

If you set the expectation for your children that remaining chaste until marriage is an impossibility, rediculous, or of no value then they are more likely to fulfill your expectation. The converse is also true, however I will concede that children who are taught that pre-marital sex is inevitable are almost 100% certain to have pre-marital sex, while those who are taught to wait for marriage are not nearly 100% likely to do so. However this doesn't mean that it is futile.
