First of all, any issues involving bugs are fixed from a meare few hours to a few days. If I do recall correctly, Microsoft takes a few days to a few weeks, even longer and in fact, they don't even fix the bugs, they just remove the part that doesn't work (IE: the gopher hole).
Second of all, you OWN the browser. Once you download it you are free to do what you want with it within the policies of the GPL. If you have the skills to write an addon that will stop popup banners and banners in general, you are free to do so. If you want to make it so it runs on your PalmPilot or even your refridgerator, you're welcome to. Microsoft basically states they own the browser and they are free to rape your computer at will. To make matters worse, you are only able to get it for Windows, Macintosh, Solaris, and HP-UX, nothing else. Mozilla? It can run on almost any OS these days.
Mozilla, or Gecko rather, will be availble in the newer versions of AOL. What does this mean? This means that there is potential to have at least 1,000,000 new Mozilla users as there are something like that number using the free 1,000 hours. Over time it might mean that the 35,000,000 AOL users will be using Mozilla over IE and that can cause a huge dent in the amount of hits our webservers get with IE.
Mozilla may not just a web browser either. It has been said that you could write spreadsheet or word processing software from it's rendering engine. If this is true, then Mozilla is way better than IE.
The reason why Wal-Mart doesn't include an OS on the PCs in the first place is the fact that Wal-mart tries to make them as cheap as humanly possible. This is how Wal-Mart has taken down the competition (ala K-Mart) by cutting corners wherever they can.
If Wal-Mart didn't have this strategy, they'd be including Windows XP on these systems.
Remember how you could "fuse" NT 4's and 2000's service packs into the installer so you wouldn't have to update it when you made a fresh install? How much do you want to bet that this will the next method that the piraters will use to circumvent the piracy control method?
In a nutshell, this is quite easy to do. You extract the contents of the service pack to a directory, copy the contents of the Windows CD to some random folder, place the updated files in the appopriate places, burn a CD with the updated contents and make it bootable, and voila! You have an updated Windows CD.
Not to troll or anything, but SimCity 3000 was a bit of a disappointment and a waste of my money as it was really just a graphics-enhanced version of SimCity 2000. From what I can see from the prelininary screenshots, SimCity 4 will not be like it's older brothers and will breathe fresh air into a game that has always rocked.
One feature I really want is the ability to work with other Sim players. Net support in the game would rock because you could work with other players on water, garbage, and electricity deals and also work on transportation plans together. Hell, even have sports teams competing against eachother.:)
Another is to have what SimCity 2000 with Streets of SimCity and have the ability to drive through town. Have it simulate actual traffic at certain sections and make it so you can determine, for real, what areas have problems.
This is something I came up with a while back. If you're going to ban the sale of violent video games to minors, why not ban violent books to minors?
Books are full of violence ranging from rape, murder, war, you name it, books are just as bad as television and video games alike. If you're going to ban the same of such games as Unreal Tournament, Counter-Strike, or Quake III Arena, then you might as-well ban books involving material I just mentioned.
...the reviewer finds the interface 'maddening, especially at first' and wonders out loud what a car from Microsoft might be like...
Well, the car would require you to entre a product code every time you placed your key into a key hole, let that be the ignition or the car door. The thing would BSOD if you pressed on the brake too hard...
I think you get my drift. Driving a Microsoft car would be annoying and at the same time, dangerous.
You, as-well as everyone else, have probably noticed a recent increase in the number of advertisements on Slashdot. These banners are quite annoying as they can be simple and small banners on the top of the page to large and annoying squared banners in the middle of the page.
I get quite easily annoyed by advertisements on any website and have taken such steps to ensure that I will not see them. I will share these tips with you so those in the Slashdot General Public can have a slight taste of what those in the subscribed section have.
Here are some software to help you out...
The Proxomitron This program basically acts as a proxy server that filters whatever you want and will also allow you to write your own as-well. Configuration is easy and all you have to do for the browsers is tell it to use your computer (or someone else's computer) as a proxy. It will even allow you to proxy to another machine while you're at it too. And fear not if you're a Linux user. This program has been tested and verified to run in WINE by the program's author himself.
Bannerblind (Mozilla Addon) If you're a Mozilla user, this might do what you want. Install it and enjoy. It works for all OS-versions of Mozilla and is open-source.
Other things you could do is edit your hosts. Your hosts file is generally located in "/etc/" or "/usr/local/etc" (UNIX), "c:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc" (NT), or "c:\windows" (Win9x). Open the file up in notepad, vi, pico, nano, or whatever and do the following...
Why doesn't Microsoft, by default, disable scripting and in Outlook? This is where Outlook is weak at and where the root of all it's problems come from.
Otherwise, more viruses will just keep coming and coming.
I just finished this project a few weeks ago for my Information Technology 12 class. It was a half-ass job, but I got a really good mark for it seeing that others didn't go as far as I did.
We have had them in the Greater Vancouver area for the past three years now and they have done an extremely good job on catching those who run the red lights.
One such place near my place (88th and King George Highway) has seen accident reductions and it has been classified as a "high risk" zone by ICBC. They have also been proven to be helpful in other parts of the King George Highway and in parts of Vancouver.
In most cases, they come via mail and you can just claim you never got the ticket (just like ol' jury duty). Yet in other cases I have heard of, the RCMP/Municipal Police will actually come to your door with the ticket.
The system does actually work pretty decent and nobody has really attacked it.
If you're Canadian and you have cable or sattelite you can watch it at 12 AM weekdays on Teletoon.
If you're like me and have a dish, you can watch it at 9 PM then again at 12 AM (Gotta love getting both Teletoon West and Teletoon East).
Does anyone know if these uncensored or new episodes made it to Teletoon?
Robotic thugs will mug us as we go along the street.
What will they take?
Our batteries that we use in our cellphones, pagers, calculators (unless solar powered), CD players, MP3 players, you name it.
I will be keeping a portable EMP blaster for now on.
How so?

It's not on it's knees, but it isn't in the best of shape however.

Yoda is done working on the Star Wars movies for a bit, so now he is working for Mr. Malda.
This won't last too long, though. I hear Yoda has a few interviews coming his way.
The porn banner industry will just LOVE this.

Somebody should patent the "Patent Office!"
This would be even better than the Humouse.

I'll update this whenever I find the time, but for now, enjoy.
Is someone's kitchen or bathroom tiled in ceramic tiles each containing an element.
I can see it now "I WILL WALK OVER YOU LEAD!"
It's funny, you wonder how companies start-out and you find-out they did something somewhat related but not the same...
For instance...
Sega of America did mechanical-based games for the Army. The name "Sega" came from it's original name "Service Games."
Nintendo of Japan started out as a playing card company.
He ripped-out the BSOD module since that is the most useless module ever.
It would be even worse if the BSOD module starts to load itself while in the middle of the court session.

Just IMAGINE a beowulf cluster of these!
Wait a second... JUST IMAGINE MULTIPLES OF THESE CLUSTERS!!!
That is much better.

It looks like a nice place to live, actually.
If a single movie can cost an economy $300,000,000 in a single day, just imagine what Doom III will cost when it is released.
:D
The economy will lose that amount every day for the next four months after the release.
The most recent release of Everquest recommended that you had 512 MB of RAM, will EQ2 require 1 GB or more? ;)
:D
I have an accuse to buy a GB of RAM if so.
