Are you old enough to remember when Houston actually had a "winter"? Because I am.
Well, you must a been around Houston for a hell of a time. In the 40 years I've been here winter has only ever been an occasional thing for at most a handful of weeks. Remembering a few freezes doesn't hardly count as remembering a winter.
I had one of the Pontiac G6s with the electric power steering assist. Let me tell you, when that electric assist went out it was exceedingly difficult to turn. Even at speed. Hydraulically assisted cars of the past would still be relatively easy to steer when moving over about 5mph. That G6 was absolutely dangerous when the electric assist failed. While GM claimed there was no issue, they did revert to hydraulic steering assist in later models. That alone should tell you the truth of the matter.
That's a total generalization. For instance, I drive a RAM 1500 100 miles round trip each day. Not a F-150 at all. Some poor bastards out there even drive Silverados.
[qoute]Yes, other countries, even those that people think are so backward and lacking in knowledge are more than capable of producing high value goods at a reasonable price and a high quality standard.[/qoute]
Until the final product is delivered, the quality of the assembly and meterials is an unknown.
The Pontiac Fiero using his Hot Vapor sysem is still alive and kicking. They had it on Horsepower TV a while ago. I believe the current owner is in the process of (maybe completed) restoring it.
Wow, what an argonant attitude. First, why should I and my family be forced to live in a tiny overpriced appartment so I can be close to work? Why should my work dictate my lifestyle? Should I move around town every time I get a new job? What about the cost of those moves? What about my daughter's education and friends? Should I ignore the quality of school district I am in so I can be closer to work? Should I ignore a large salary differential so I can be closer to home? Should I pass up a job that can advance my career because it isn't within a few minutes of my house? That also would limit where my wife could work. It's not so easy, especially with a family. In many cases, as great as the ocncept may be, in reality it is just not feasible. However, I think you're more happy spewing vitrol than actual meaningful discussion.
One example of a reason people create distractions because sitting in a car for an hour in rush hour traffic is boring as hell. Now, before someone goes off on a public transportation trip, keep in mind it is ot a viable option for many people. This is especially so in certain areas. Houston's public transportation is practically useless. I carpool with my wife and even the HOV lanes are slow. So, honestly, who wants to spend two hours a day bored to tears? Left to my own thoughts, I'd be thinking about work because I was either going there or leaving there. I'm not getting paid to think about work when I'm not there, so I'd rather not.
As far as being in a deathtrap and risking your life, butch up. The risk of death isn't that high (blah blah statistics, look them up yourself). Everything you do has a risk. Riding a bicycle in Houston has to be damn near suicidal. You can die pretty much anywhere doing pretty much anything. Itss all about acceptable risk. Now, the driving while on the phone may prove to be an unacceptable risk, but are all distractions? And what defines an acceptable risk? Is sitting nearly idle on a freeway moving a few feet every minute really a risk? How about listennig to the radio as you drive an empty highway that is straight for miles?
Next year I would try reducing the squirrel based protien in your diet. You should see a marked reduction in the growth of new oak trees in your surrounding area.
Yes, you can choose who you buy power from, but the actual utilities themselves are the same company no matter who you buy your power from. So your meter reader, utilites repair will be done by the same company regardless. There is no real incentive to lower the price. All the competitor has to do is be a little under Reliant's (insane) cost and they are golden. Especially since they can just cycle themselves through as the lowest periodically. So you go to the lowest cost guy, a few months ater they jack thier prices sky high. Takes you 30-45 days to transfer if you are not locked in for a year. Then you jump to the next guy, they do the same. Wash, rinse repeat. Houston is supposed to be the energy capital. Why do we pay so much more?
Shocks are designed to dampen the movement of the springs. Without shocks your car would be very hard to control at speed, and the ride would suck. So this would be the opposite of what you want from a shock absorber.
No.. he's sad cause it isn't the right smell of death. If it was the smell of a nice dead grilled steak and baked potatoes it would all be good. Yummy yummy animals...
KISS is a great methodology. So lets toss out the emissions crap. It is not required to make the car run. Throw out all the computer equipment, fuel injection, electronic temp control, power seats and windows, etc. what you will have when you are completed is a fine 60's style automobile that will still be around in 20 years. I know.. your gonna cry about the environemnt. But if you have an easily maintained car that lasts 20 years that produces higher harmful emissions, how does that compare to the emissions of the 2-4yr car now the norm. Don't forget to include the plant emissions used to create the 4-10 cars (would be good to find the average ownership of a car these days) that you would consume in the same period of time. Oh yeah.. maybe throw in some of the clasic 60's styling.. you know.. the type that is becoming so popular again because it actually had style.
.. and on the weekends or from India. Funny how that works.
...gotten fucked doggy style by your turgid lover while on a conference call?
He didn't say there was anyone else there...

Why are you bringing Alaska into this?

What does any of this have to do with a stringed instrument?
Millions of years of evolution vs my fist! WoW indeed!
HORDE of lobbyists.
There's your problem! We need some Alliance lobbyists!!!

You are both wrong.
Yep, I hosed that qoute.

Baking ammonia (ammonium carbonate, Hartshorn) is available from many vendors online.
No worries. With the new Star Trek we can now assume we are in the alternate reality. So, canon need not apply.

*EVERY* city north of the Rio Grande?

Maybe what we need here is a car analogy.

I for one welcome our anthropomorphic overlords.
Yes... if all rights of the general public were ended there'd be nothing to be scared of at all!!!
The Humble Guys? They aren't till around anymore as far as I know. Such great things from a little town in Texas...
