oh, i was also going to say, that my absolute favorite Moby song appeared in the XFiles episode where Mulder finds the truth about his sister's death. The song is called "My Weakness", and it with that scene from the XFiles just made me weep.

I was also thinking of posting about Cryosleep, which i have playing while I sleep and when I want to just really chill.
iTunes users can go to Radio Tuner > Ambient > Cryosleep
The story author, James Middleton, is a known troll and MS banner-waver, check out http://www.vnunet.com/News/1128907 Either that, or he is very susceptible to marketing hype from corporate interests, and taking it as news.
maybe its this little technological universe I live in, but the RealMyst game pretty went unnanounced, even less so for the Mac.
You can get it for pretty cheap off of Amazon.com or elsewhere and its great for those of us who never played the old one-frame-per-scene game.
This site has lots of info on it. the graphics and environment are lush and it's a fun game for those of us who have tired of shooting everything (I havent totally tired of them of course;) )
I totally agree... it would take very little to get the iBook screen to behave like the ones on the Sony Clie, and with a touch screen, Voila! tablet computer!
I attended an IEEE meeting at my school recently, and a guy from Xilinx presented and demoed FPGAs (their brand of course) and told us why we should use FPGAs for our signal processing needs. Of course, being an SE student, there were quite a few thngs that were over my head, but of course talking about the massive paralellism clicked with me, and of course hearing that one client of theirs had OC-768 signal processing within one FPGA chip, well, that was pretty damn cool. Also, being able to design your circuits with a nice GUI interface, rather than in VHDL or Verilog or whatever, looked pretty damn cool.

With all of these gaping holes that Red Hat's linux installs by default, will this allow me r00t Snuffleupagus? Should I make everyone's favorite wooly mammoth go on a muderous rampage down 123 Sesame St.?
If you want to read a really stallar critique of Lucas and the Star Wars movies, check out this Salon article by David Brin. It was written after SW:TPM came out, and I think it does a great job of tearing Lucas apart >:) IMO, Lucas is basically a hack with a really high budget.
hell, in space, ANY direct sunlight will do it. Of course, the trick is to then coat the space elevator with some kind of paint. Perhaps Dorito, Pepsi and Duracell ads painted up and down the sides of the elevator will bring in the needed revenue
yeah, and i'm sure if you polled them for who could do basic 1st semester calculus, your results would be far far lower. The illusion that hard work and perseverance can make you a star is still rampant and spread wildly by those for whom it benefits (think of the countless girls (and guys) that move to NYC or Hollywood hoping to be a star, and either ending up working as waiters/waitresses, or just moving back home six months later. America, Land of Shattered Dreams and Unattainable Hopes.
Exactly. I don't think most/. readers understand how almost totally autonomous the MBU is from the rest of MS. They're weak push for.NET on the Mac I think is a bit of a busines decision, because that would mean Office.NET could be ported with little difficulty (assuming Office.NET is written using the CLI/.NET Runtime)
"We have a beautiful language here in Java; it has achieved industry-wide support and is pushing forward with great velocity. What can we do to support it?"
Well, another song product, Open Firmware, has a song (though it's not a programming language... but it does use Forth!)
actually, i recently did a wget on everything in that dir on that site, and i have mirrored it on my own site Just In Case (the $scientologits decide to they want to attack that site)

I feel it's more correct to call Star Wars a "space opera"
yeah, god, Solaris was such a slow movie, when I tried watching it late one night, i fell asleep, napped, and woke up within one driving scene!

I too am in sunnyvale, and i heard the TV sitting here on my desk shaking just a little, but didn't feel it in my seat

personally, I consider it UNIX that my mom can use, which is what makes OSX so *nice*

I thought they were talking about Pong on the G4 (computers), as in Open Firmware Pong from the 98 MacHack Contest
"a new hacked version of spyware-ridden KAZAA file-sharing software is being circulated, sans spyware"
soooo... you're trying to tell us that its spyware-free?
</sarcasm>
in all fairness, look at the date (it was submitted before the original about him made it to the front page):
