    MS Outlook is the bane of my email existence. Its inability to group conversation threads encourages replies to include the conversation in its entirety. Its insistence that the reply precede the original drives me batty.

    But gmail places 3 blank lines at the top of the original message when you hit reply. Could it be that Google's Gmail is also guilty of encouraging this barbaric practice?

    We know that Gmail isn't quite right for everyone yet. We're working on that too - there's still more we can do for the folder-lovers and devout-deleters out there. But wait, there's more! :) We also have a new batch of exciting innovations on the way that we hope will shake things up again and make Gmail even better for even more people.

    I assume this means they will be introducing a delete button and providing a way of hiding mail inside folders instead of just labelling it. As for the rest, I can hardly wait!

    This guy had been a Mac person, but for some reason converted.. He had no experience with *nix-based systems.

    Yes, a few betas within the beta already have access to "rich formatting" as they call it, but it has not reached me yet so I assume there are a few problems they are working on. http://xinha.python-hosting.com/ looks like an interesting alternative, but does not have a mac version yet.

    Actually gmail is still in development. I can't wait for html mail compose, not that I feel a big need for it but just to see how neatly they will surely make it work.

    Also, it could be useful to be able to forward html mail without losing formattig.

    I agree. I bought a samsung ml 1510 for £50 and when I found the replacement for the half filled cartridge supplied was also £50 I went to ebay and bought a bottle of toner for £5.

    Don't have a special problem with NYT and already use bugmenot but thanks for that heads up. It's not just balance but stuff like aesthetics; I can't stand the look of any yahoo! site for example. As for getting submissions accepted, perhaps the way to get in is to link to NYT with the mandatory warnings? But I accept your other points.

    Interesting point; I hadn't considered the conspiracy angle, but this might explain why /. always links to yahoo news or NYT when reporting generic news events. Also why submissions get rejected if they link to a non-kickback. Oh well I guess someone has to pay.
