The reason the 360 isn't working as a media center is because in order to drive windows sales (GG, fags) the parent company made them require a version of windows that most people can't legally buy without replacing their whole computer.
No, SIM locking only makes sense for pre-paid subsidised phones. Contract phones have this thing called a contract, that requires you to pay wether you like it or not. Incidently, outside of the US, where you all get absolutely shafted by cell phone providers, nobody SIM-locks non-prepaid cells. And after 6-12 months of continued use, most providers will unlock your prepaid phone for a nominal fee (like $40 or so).
The problem isn't the RIAA going around sueing innocent people (well not the big problem), the problem is corporate interests buying never-ending copyright and increasingly stricter punishments for doing anything that might possibly be used to violate said purchased perpetual copyright. The question becomes, what the bejesus can those of us who care (the nerdy minority) do?
First, why not? Any old titrat can collect empty beers. And it's not to increase their worth. Only the Duff is worth anything (other than replacement value for me), and I've no intention of ever selling them so it's irrelevant. Second, not all beers go off as quickly as you think, either. I have a Maudite that's about 7 years old, and I intended to drink it when I got more, because it gets better with age (until about 8 or 9 years IIRC). Unfortunately they changed the bottle design by the time I managed to find any more as it's nigh on impossible to get here, so I decided against it. Also, full beers are intact, with the lid (and often foil for european styled beers) intact, and ring-pulls unpulled.
I collect beers, and have a full can of Duff... That, my Darwin Stubby (they still make them), and an old tin XXXX from god knows when (it's in flOz) are my faves. All full too. I've got mates who drank a few cartons of Duff when it was available, they're not real happy about that. 'Specially since it wasn't really good:)
I believe the case on the Macbook is extra thick because the iBooks flex too much when you move them around, eventually cracking the motherboard. I went through three motherboards in my iBook before apple replaced it with a Macbook, and Apple employees told me that the solution is to always use two hands when you carry the thing around. Which is really not acceptable for a portable computer, hence the iBook case was done away with while the Powerbook case was retained.
First of all, Macbooks only run 2gb max. MBP can hold 4gb (mine's coming tomorrow apparently). And even the 386 can address 4gb of ram with the 32bit address bus. All core 2 duo machines will run vista 64 (and 64 bit leopard), but core duo machines are 32bit IIRC.
The immobilisers don't lose programming, they're eeprom'd. And $300 (US$) is a LOT. Locksmiths can duplicate most immobiliser keys, although high-end ones they can't do (including my HSV unfortunately).
Yes, why should anybody be able to have sex without fear of DYING? Those sinners! I mean, you don't have to drive to work, why the fuck should we put research dollars into airbags or ABS?
Yes, one of these three is not like the other. Tivo is taking somebody else's work, making a profit, and not sharing. Do you know anybody who torrents up his media and wouldn't let you grab a copy if you turned up at his house with a portable hdd? I sure don't.
Game developers look through the GPL source code to IT5, learn the algorithms / ideas behind features X,Y, and Z, and simply add them to their copy of IT4, and iD makes nothing.
You do realise they weren't *actually* evil right? They just tried to do it a different way, and it didn't work out. Sure you see all the government oppression, propaganda posters, etc etc... No different to the US, just different people being oppressed and imprisoned, and different viewpoints being supressed.
a) Not a European. Well I'm white, but... You get the idea. b) Point out what I said that wasn't true. Americans do as a whole, think it's OK to talk on the cell while driving, either on a hands free, or "it's ok, it's an automatic" on a handset. IIRC it's not even the law that you must wear a seatbelt in some states?
Talking on a cell phone (hands free or not) is worse than being over the legal limit for BAC. It's already illegal in most of the civilized world, and we all know why. Why is it Americans think it's ok?
It's fair enough really. The tax is for road usage, not petrol usage. The bowser is just the fairest place to take it. That's why farmers get to use a "special" coloured diesel that has less tax on it.
Look, this is slashdot. If the story is about space, you can't start your comment with "That's no $foo," or the rest will always be subconciously replaced with "it's a space station!".
Bah! There's no such thing as pro-life. The word you're looking for is prudish mysoginst. Think I'm full of it? Ask them if it's OK for a woman to take the morning-after pill if she's been raped.
They want to punish women for having sex. Nothing more, nothing less.
How is that a good deal? You get to pay full price for the phone, and you get the joys of a 2 year contract? It's fucking obscene! I'd sure as hell not have bought my mac if I'd had to sign up for 2 years of "Brand X" broadband to get it.
If you're worried about being fat, the answer isn't juice, it's just water. Most juices have just as many calories as a Coke. Just because it's "natural" doesn't mean you won't continue to be a lardass:)

You don't put up turk jobs of "solve this captcha", they're "sign up to hotmail 200 times for .5c" and send me the logins

Coz doom 2 was better than doom, and ditto for hl2? The list isn't "revoltionary" or "groundbreaking" games, it's "best".
I put them on a shelf :)
Coke is fairly acidic, it's always going to eat through metal cans. If you want to keep coke cans, empty (and wash) them.

How can this not be a requirement? In Australia it's been that way for ages, and all new cars have to have immobilizers fitted.

The *end* of next year? Fuck.... The N95 gets better and better every day.

Actually it's more like 15% piracy, 1% homebrew, and 84% emulation (yay for paying $400 to play games I can get on a GBA)
