Of Ray Kurzweil's "narrative filesystem". He did a presentation on it at an expo last year, it seemed pretty interesting. Although, at least for now, I'm with the guy who posted above expressing satisfaction with hierarchical filesystems, it's nice to see that there is open development of this kind of thing. I shall download and test frothwith!
I'm glad that it is finally dawning on the Big Technology powers-that-be that proprietary messaging schemes are bad for everyone's business. This is definitely needed if wireless is really to be the way of the future, and since there is so much money being spent on the gadgets, it's inevitable that they are going to have to play nice and compete on some other basis besides lock-out.
I have to agree -- what made the original Dune series such a joy for me to read was not the incredibly detailed universe per se, but the beautiful story which was overlaid upon it. I think writers these days sometimes tend to stage-manage at the expense of the play.
And, if you don't trust your customers to be fair, then you have the right to not sell the products of your talent to those who do not give it proper respect.
That's it !!!
I will distribute a EULA with my records! --> ; )
I understand the *concept* of fair use, but worry about the way it pans out in practice...
I would hate to sell like one cd and have 2 more unpaid for copies floating around. That's like giving away 2 apples for every one you sell! Kind of a sad business model...
Making music is a risky enough way to try to make a living without this hassle.
And just for the record, I'm not trolling, this issue is close to my heart is all.
I'm not signed to a label, so I don't have anyone to front me money, I'm totally dependent on actual sales. But on the bright side, I don't *owe* a label zillions of $$$ : )
Who is going to protect my right(I'm a recording artist) to make a living off of my work? I depend on sales of my cd's, not on the number of copies of my work in existence!
While it may be true that the Court won't be swayed, I find the project to be rather heartening on a humanitarian level; it's all to rare to see a pure celebration of knowledge and the free flow of information in this day and age....
I was a member of the EFF at one time, but I find that my own political philosophy has diverged from theirs to the point where I can no longer support them.
I am, however, supportive of the "freedom to tinker", and am always on the hunt for examples of fair-use advocacy that doesn't require on to buy into blanket leftist ideology.
The computer i use at work is the property of my employer, provided for work-related purposes only... Likewise, the bandwidth I use is restricted to those activities necessary for me to carry out my duties. I have specifically agreed to limit my use of thecomputer and network in this manner as a term of my continued employment. Why would I expect any kind of privacy in this case?
What the FUCK is a "Beowulf Cluster" ???
Red Hat or Debian?

Sod off! :-)
Unless, of course, you were referring to the ancient grain...
D'oh !

Pls mod down, thx.
Your to late, jackass.

Any suggestions?
Hey, if it increases functionality and ease of use, it ain't bloat.
People who can't, sue.
Well done, Mr. Swimfast!
