There is a considerable difference between a gun and a lock on the door to your house.
While I agree with you in principal, in an age where information itself can be a powerful weapon, encryption is a problematic issue. There are those (of which I am not one) who would argue that information ought to be subject to the same type of controls as narcotics or radioactive materials, both of which have valuable and legally sanctioned uses.
It will be interesting to see if countries which have turned their backs on MSFT "solutions" will pool their knowledge of the alternatives. It would be cool to see a multinational "Knowledge Base" to be used by smaller countries wanting to go this route.
Not as an anti-Microsoft movement, but as a pro-alternative movement.
OpenGL owes its current success to an unrestrictive licensing system, which allows developers to write to the API without a licence, and which carries no royalty fees.
I think they were a little remiss in overlooking the technological case for OpenGL; the fact is that many developers prefer it to DirectX, and not for ideological reasons.
All three work in the same genre are Douglas Adams
I must say I disagree with you on the point of Sandman being in the same genre as Douglas Adams. While the Hichhikers' series was openly satirical of the Sci-Fi genre, Sandman has always been planted firmly in the Fantasy genre; albeit with a postmodern leaning.
I was exposed to a lot of cool and interesting music I otherwise wouldn't have heard about, thanks to various groups on Audiogalaxy. While I understand the music industry's rationale for suppressing this kind of thing, I wonder why there can't be a legal, commercially-based (if not very profitable) service of this kind, supported by the artists and labels. Is this an overly utopian idea?
I appreciate the fact that they acknowledge the role played by social engineering as a vector. As I have tried to explain to my more gullible user-friends, a little crankiness goes a long way towards virus protection!
Consolidation might not be a bad idea. Particularly since the excellent escrow service Tradenable went belly-up, I have noticed the one sketchy part about the whole Ebay experience has be the payment path. Perhaps now it will be better integrated.
beginning to define socio-political conflict in the 21st Century
The problem is, though -- brute force is still very effective at neutralizing dissent, even if the dissenters are canny at manipulating electronic media content and delivery systems. But yeah, it does seem as though traditional control mechanisms are slipping a bit.
Sure ya can; I recommend a ballpeen hammer.
WiFi is dying
IMHO this is just further proof that gaming is the Prime Evolutionary Factor in all technology. ; -)

Using a(licensed) firearm to shoot soda cans off a fence != crime
Using a(licensed) firearm to shoot someone in the face == crime
Heated hyperbole will not help to advance your cause; only a reasoned consideration of the issues will.
I now jump off my soapbox.

They are well on their way to making this a reality, courtesy of "Palladium".
No, but if you had a history of violent assault, one might reasonably lay strong odds for the likelihood of you doing it again!

But I have retired it now; I don't want anybody to suffer :-P
And then bitched about the instability of the game on irc.
You are using: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1)
But I guess that MSFT has succeeded in polluting the standards to the point where
IE can totally ignore IEEE compliance.
Not a troll, just a lament

I take it you're not using an Athlon! ;-)

Dear Citizen,
I am writing this in order to have your opinion.......
