But we do put a lot of trust on cruise control. On really wet surfaces, the wheel will be spun really fast because it slips and the car is trying to speed itself up. Once it grips, the car goes flying.

True, but your explanation is wrong, remember a car measures its speed based on how fast the wheel is spinning, not actual movement of the vehicle. So its not gonna spin the wheels faster that the cruise speed. Yes I guess depending upon differential you could have the whole, "one wheel spinning and the other wheel just sitting there" problem. But obviously when hydropanning you should ease off gas, and the cruise control won't. I wonder if newer cruise controls know to let off the gas when they detect slippage??

talking about irish slaves, you can find more googling for irish slaves. Not sure I can backup them being from orphans, that was shooting from the hip I guess but I had heard of American Irish slaves.

Either way while there was a definate racist history of slavery in American. I've always felt it was more a crime of opportunity, just as even now in many third world countries if you are traveling alone you can be abducted and sold into slavery despite your race. The southerners needed labor and generally didn't care where it came from as long as it was cheap. Obviously the social environment encouraged negative thinking of negros so as to protect their own sensabilities. But I am sure many plantation owners took whatever labor they could buy be it Irish, African or even the removal of rights from indentured servants.

So the better the economy appears from the bottom, the less money is at the top! Or something like that.

Yes it was a long time ago true, but its not true anymore. Either way the slave count was most important in the taxation and the representation in congress. The North wanted the slaves to be taxed as full persons (remember the feds taxes a state based on population back then, no individual federal tax) but to not to be full people for counting representative. Obviously the south wanted it the other way. So a comprimise was reached. Either way it wasn't just about blacks there were non black slaves, so to say the electoral college is racist is a bit of a stretch, maybe say it had ties to slavery.

Either way yes, its not totally secure, I heard somewhere something about how tivo is changing their new boxes, or possibly upgrading series2, to make it so pay-per-view movies and other broadcast-flagged content will automatially dissapear after 3 days, but still be recorded. Personally I see this as a reasonable comprimise. The new netflix movies will probably autodelete themselves after you turn them in in order to download new movies. Hopefully it won't delete untill you have fully downloaded and started to watch the newest movies so there isn't the time lag between turning them in and watching the newest ones.
