I don't think the spray seals it like a cannister, but it's more like a silicone covering that goes over all the circuits, boards, etc. So water should leak in, behind the speaker, etc.

Not using water cooling I understand, 'cause there'd be around 30 tubes snaking in and out of the box - something would fail/leak.

Besides - without any special interest for the USA to protect in the mid east (oil access), more than likely we will pull out. That's probably one of the main reasons why we are disliked over there - a heavy troop presence.

Thanks for the typo correction - it's actually a square 92 x 92 miles or around 8,400 square miles.

Big, but doable. Estimated cost is around 400 billion dollars - we've probably spent that much in Iraq already. Take away the income from their oil, and that will do a better job of reducing the middle easts power.

The whole desert floor doesn't have to be covered, so there can be space available between the collectors.

Besides, the CO2 reduction, pollution savings would offset what little impact a 100 square mile patch would have. That's right, using roughly a 100 square mile of desert could supply Americas ENTIRE power requirements. Not too shabby, but a very, very large undertaking. Solar panels have been making some huge strides in efficiencies lately. The nasty compounds used in them are eventually "paid for" by other environmental improvements.

The engine temperature observation from the story may just imply that the vetroleum has a very low flash point, or combustion temperature. My friends and I used to set our hands on fire with alcohol from alcohol burners, The alcohol burns at a fairly low temperature, and thus doesn't heat your hand much.

Lower temperature burns would probably generate less side products, producing a cleaner smoke. That's nothing surprising nor revolutionary. It's actually a bad thing too, since the amount of power produced is also less (less heat -> less thermal expansion = less power)

Now I am a surgeon, and my appearance really matters quite a bit (do you really want a guy operating on you, if it looks like he doesn't care to iron his shirt? - Maybe he won't care if the bits aren't quite aligned properly.) Corporate business world is much, much more "stiff" in terms of what is allowed. One of my friends who worked for a major accounting firm was not allowed to be seen eating at fast food joints. Why? - because the clients might think he couldn't afford better food because he wasn't very good. - Stupid - yes, but that's how it is.

10-20 blocks I could manage in a suit, but 15 miles - not a chance - I'd look like crap, and would have to shower. Stats also show that bike riding in non-daylight hours is too dangerous, and therefore I won't do it.

Geek/science/engineering/lower ranking jobs can do this. If people are in non-technical fields or if they become more successful, then appearances tend to matter more, and certain behaviors can't be tolerated. In an ideal world, where everyone is recognized solely on intellectual merit this would work, but it's not an ideal world.

Might want to try some collections of short stories, and see what they like. You might already have it in your collection. My library, at the time, had YA stickers on books (young adult), and I remember cruising around the library, looking for those stickers for a few years.

I also used to read the first page in a book, and some other random page just to see if I liked it, or the style. Try that with them.
