My browsing habits are probably very different than most peoples, and that's why I like FIrefox. It kinda avoids the one-size fits all and can provide you with a more "tailored" application. I can also envision download "packs" specialized for individual companies that have a particular need for certain features. I've been showing people this stuff, who've never seen Mo?Fire before, and they're like "Wow!" Of course it's still a pain in the neck when I have to use Active X sites, and can't, but I think people are realising slowly that, this should be looked at (and avoided).

Can anyone say lack of incentive to drive conservatively?

ANywayI figured I had burned some environmental karmic points, so my next car was a diesel VW Jetta which averaged abut 50 MPG

  8. Cardiac Beta-myosin heavy chain mutation =My tatoo on Dance Dance Revolution Hastens Heart Attack · · Score: 3, Funny
Just for thoses interested one of the causes of HCM (Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy) is from mutations in the Beta cardiac myosin heavy chain. While I was at the National Institues of Health (NIH) about 15 years ago, I helped discover several different point mutations (single substitutions) in DNA which caused this disease.

Hypertrophic = enlarged, cardiac=heart and myopathy = muscle disease

Anyway, I went and got a tatoo of the DNA section with the mutation in it. It was quite the interesting education gauge. I got double takes from people eduated in science, and "Hey dude! cool roller coaster thingy tatoo!" from the less educated, which then led in turn to "Hey, what's your phone number!"

  18. Unforseen side effects on Molecule Cuts Off Fat's Food Supply · · Score: 4, Interesting
A 30% loss of total body fat in a month will probably result in some rather harsh/detrimental side effects. Can you imagine what will happen to the HUGE increase in cellular breakdown products from all the fat, triglycerides, proteins and nucleaic acids that are liberated? Gout, kidney damage, brain infarcts are just a few. The human body is probably not equipped to deal with massive cell apoptosis (cell death) on a level like this.

On the other hand, morbid obesity is probably the number one preventable health concern in America. I am doubtfull that this will ever be a useful drug (i.e. too many side effects, like DEATH), but if somehow it makes it's way onto the list of FDA approved drugs, this will have a MAJOR affect on the American lifestyle (even less exercising?). Whatever pharm company invents this will be filthy, filthy, filthy rich.

N.B. It usually takes about 10 years and close to a bilion dollars to go from a chemical/protein to an approved drug in America. Let's check back in a few years.

Plus I've met a few high ranking Navy guys (Admirals, etc) and they're much more like Kirk, not like Picard.

Lets face it - we NEED a show with some good space battles, NO cutesy-poo whimps like Wesley, or that Hyena-freak on Voyager. The eugenics wars when Kahn came into power would also be very good to cover - much of the Earth was trashed.
