The Mario games have always been technology demos. Consider Super Mario World and Mario 64.

Still I think that Mario 64 stands as one of the best games for the Nintendo 64. Mario 64 was the first game in which I felt like I had complete control of the character's movements.

I guess I'm still a sucker for platform games. I liked Donkey Kong 64, Banjo-Kazooie, etc. The fact that the Nintendo 64 had a bunch of "kids' games" was no big deal to me. I think their fun whether or not you're a kid.

It brings all of the benefits of the Windows registry without it's drawbacks.

The biggest drawback of the Windows registry is that it is stored in a binary format so if it is corrupted you're basically screwed.

GConf provides multiple backends. The default XML based backend is much more resistent to corruption that the Windows registry. If something goes wrong and something gets corrupted, it's almost certainly going to be limited to a single file. Also, if you're ever in a pinch, you can easily edit XML with your text editor of choice.

System adminstrators can set system defaults for users and can make certain settings non-overrideable.

A system like GConf is necessary to allow different programs to share common settings (e.g. the user should only have to specify his or her proxy settings once rather than in each application). GConf provides a mechanism for notifying applications of changes in settings pertinent to them.

That and a couple of other things seemed like a weak attempt at showing both sides of the story. From what I saw, it looked like the show ended with an anti-piracy message.

The people who made the cartoon may have even thought that they fairly showed both sides of the issue. People tend to have trouble realizing when they're biased.

Of course, this is all after reading the article which comes from a source which has its own biases, and I haven't seen the cartoon for myself. *Shrug*.

1.0.4 works fine for me. A little slow opening the first window (3 seconds by my estimation), but good after that. This is on an Athlon 1000 with 374MB of RAM (I had 128MB before and it ran at the same speed). I use the music view to play all of my MP3s but from time to time that crashes.

I really like using Nautilus to organize my files. I've changed the icons and backgrounds of all of the subdirectories of my home directory to suit my fancy. Certainly this is just fluff, but I like to personalize everything. I use the emblems to mark MP3s that I get from Morpheus. Rather than just deleting low quality MP3s I mark them as being bad and keep them until I find a good replacement. I may eventually write a program that generates a random playlist for my MP3 player, giving songs with a certain emblems higher or lower chances of being picked (I want to listen to my favorite songs more often, but I would like to have others thrown in for variety).

There's still some work to be done though. Sometimes the sidebar tabs die for no reason. The music view crashing also needs to be fixed. If these two things are fixed then I will have no problems with Nautilus.

I thought the gestures in Black and White worked very well. I could do the gestures much faster than I could find a key on the keyboard. It also kept the game from having rows of icons that take up half the screen. The gestures were difficult enough that it took a little practice to get the hang of them but a gestures interface in a browser has to use much simpler gestures. As such, the fact that you suck at Black and White does not guarantee that you would not be able to use a web browser with a gesture interface.
