oh my god, environmental regulations worked, quick, libertarians, figure out a way to somehow shift the credit to the free market!
...but I still credit the free market. Allowing people to dump toxic chemicals into the rivers without paying for it would be much more in keeping with the Tragedy Of The Commons. The idea of the free market is to give everybody their space & make them pay for their consumption. In the case of environmental concerns, it's hard to measure the fair price, but a good target is to aim for paying whatever it takes to keep the river in its natural condition. In this case, the success should be properly credited to environmental regulations cooperating with the free market.
That being said, I consider most environmental regulations to be a good thing.
That is, unless the meaning of "friend" has been altered beyond recognition.
Yes, the definition has been altered beyond recognition in this pluralistic & relativistic world. I'm sure that's what the grandparent poster was trying to hammer away @.
I don't understand. Why don't you make use of the IE5 filter? There are so few people using IE5, if I understand correctly, that they shouldn't be served CSS. If you just serve them plain HTML with a suggestion to upgrade, then they'll be better off because they'll be informed, & the HTML will render in a readable format. Have you heard of that filter that I describe?
You do lug other clothes though, right? You don't just live in one shirt and one pair of pants?
A week's worth of underwear still takes up less space than a pair of pants...
A week's worth of underwear takes up less than a pair of pants, but a week's worth of underwear plus the pair of pants will take up more than a pair of pants & no underwear. That's what the other fellow was saying. I'm not agreeing with him. I'm just stating that I can see the measurable differences. I'll still bring my own underwear.
I mean, you'd drop $5 for a cup of convenient coffee every day, right?
No, I try to make do with what I have. The money spent on underwear could be spent on laundry. The time spent shopping could be spent doing the laundry. I'm not saying that it all works out evenly. I'm just saying that it's not as bad as it might look.
Your point is well taken, though. Not having to lug around a week's worth of underwear would make travel a little nicer. I would never lug a month's worth.
I think that I'll try to do that. It'll probably pick me up out of my discouragement. I'm sure that I'll start off @ the public library, though. I could save big bucks that way. I might try to start @ the "A" section of the magazine rack, then work my way over to "Z". It seems much more structured that way.
While I'm on the topic of public libraries, I'd like to suggest to everybody to go to the public library, & borrow some children's music to learn a foreign language. I tried that with French, & picked up some catchy tunes & new words.
...cars are essentially the same technology from almost 100 years ago [okay, I admit that I don't know my tech & history], but you still don't see people yawning & sighing about that. Instead they line up on freeways demanding wider roads.
Maybe the US government could set up a web site to get things going. I recommend that it be called, "allyourbasebelongto.us". It's easy to remember & it reflects the history of the country, so why not?
Interesting. I'm surprised that I never really gave it enough thought to clue into that.
I did a google search for a data cable for the Nokia 5190, & basically came up with the DAU-9P. It's too bad that they don't have Linux software for that. However, I'm not going to worry about that, because we're using this strictly to connect to our customer's computers for tech support.
Hope that helps!
Oh, it definitely did help. Thanks.
As for the bluetooth suggestions, I wanted to try them, especially since it seemed so easy to use, but this seemed cheaper & more likely to work.
I forgot to mention that I looked through the pages that you linked to, but 1 of them said that it doesn't work with modems. The others didn't say anything about modems. Maybe I'm missing the point.
Maybe all we'd need to do is connect the modem to 1 of the devices, then insert the phone, & then dial out as normal?
Thanks for sharing the links. It just happens that right now we are looking for something like those to replace a landline. Unfortunately, we need to be able to connect to the cell phone line to a modem to connect to a regular desktop PC.
Do you know off the top of your head if this is easily done? I did a Google search for "cell phone modem", without quotes, but didn't find anything. If you don't know off the top of your head, then don't waste time on it.
Why can't they send out the messages via RSS or some simliar technology? You'd email your message to the list, & the list would RSS it to all the interested people. This has the advantage of letting people read without subscribing.
Seriously, does anybody know why this hasn't been done? I'm not an expert, so I wouldn't know of any limitations. I'm thinking of a cross between newsgroups & mailing lists.
& to add to that, people have to bear in mind that even with port 25 blocked on the local network, users still can use web mail. There are plenty of places where people can web mail simply for interacting with online businesses.
I agree. When I read complaints about a solution not working because it doesn't eliminate spam completely, then I can't help but think that that person is so short sighted. He keeps thinking that we should do nothing but go after 1 type of person.
Besides, what if I don't want to receive any email that isn't from a specific group of people on specific mail servers? Shouldn't many of these solutions work for me? I suppose that these so called skeptics would approve of that, but the way that they go on & on about the inadequacies of various proposals, you'd think that it's all a complete failure.
I applaud people who keep coming up with better ways to do things.
You are right. However, they already have the store running online, plus they are using retail space that is already being paid for by the car wash. So, the only extra expenses are the employees + management. It shouldn't be too bad. It will be hard, but they have a better chance than people who are just starting out with only a computer store.
That being said, I consider most environmental regulations to be a good thing.
The rules of the game have changed.

Maybe I misunderstand you?

I actually like naming scheme myself, but if we had to have another name, then what about just using "K" as a seperate word?
- K Browser
- K Mail
- K Messenger
- etc.
The "K" should show that the app not only works with KDE, but has been made with the libraries & APIs, etc.Seriously, what do you recommend?
How do the 2 bodies deal with blood types? I thought that differing blood types would cause problems.
I'm not an expert, & I'm just wondering.

Hey Las Vegas! I'm happy for you.

Do you mean that it isn't ideal because it costs more processor cycles?

...because in Nazi Germany, baby spanks you!
Why don't you use Yahoo! Bookmarks instead of Yahoo! Notepad?
I don't know much about FF, but based on the title, I thought that this was about Linux.
