Not that I know of, but they have some quirky other stuff. Very strange band. You might like their version though. Quite wonderfully silly. Their latest CD is actually for children. Great band.

To store track titles on cds, one would use CD-TEXT in the disc toc file. It's pretty standard but I've only ever seen it supported by Sony.

Hate to burst your bubble but to my knowledge the whole world with the exception of the US has switched mostly if not entirely to metric. Somehow I doubt we're all sign painters. Of course, Americans like to be different and I applaud that, but when billion dollar NASA projects do dumbass things because people still do calculations in Imperial (which is the name of the system you use in that non-imperial democratic republic of yours) then convert to metric (badly), some changes need to be considered.

Anyway, my apologies for the rant. I agree with you regarding HDTV though here in Canada we still have no sign of it from cable companies. Ours has said that they estimate 5 years before they even attempt at HDTV support.

  14. Ah the good old days on Series on Wizard Of the Coast · · Score: 1

I remember them well. Simple decks, fun social games. I could easily fit 2 or 3 games into a lunch hour at school. I carried a deck around with me. The cards had straightforward, useful effects. Then came the limitations...oh, now this effect only lasts during the same turn. Oh ok. Hmm...how 'bout that Snow-Covered Landwalk, or how 'bout shadow, phasing, tokens, cumulative upkeep, et cetera. Now you bloody well have to carry around a book of errata in order to play. Not to mention each card practically has an epic written on it. And then there's the beginner, intermediate, and advanced thing. What the hell is that all about? I played magic when I was 13. I was able to grasp the basic concepts easily enough. Oh yeah I know. It's so the mindless players of Pokemon would be able to make the transition without actually having to learn anything. I want my magic back. .

  15. Re:Oh, great... on More on the GeForce 3 · · Score: 1

Agreed. Up til a couple months back I was playing all my games on a Real3D Starfighter (i740). Diablo II ran fine (I mean come on 640x480 with some groovy lighting effects? How much stress could that put on the card?). Mechwarrior 4, I'm almost positive would have sucked but I can bet it would have been near playable if not just barely playable. As well, Halflife (and its various mods) have been playable at up to 800x600 with slow, but stable framerates.

And you're right. There are usually other benefits to paying good money for a card. My ASUS V7700 GeForce2 Deluxe came with shutter glasses (damn cool with WinAmp DirectX plugins) and Video In/Out (hooked it up to the TV one day. Bloody spiffy).

I think I got more than my money's worth.

  16. Re:Oh, great... on More on the GeForce 3 · · Score: 1

Definitely my philosophy. I do plan a little, I mean, I bought my ASUS V7700 GeForce2 GTS Deluxe for $405 Canadian (tax included) and damn if it isn't the best video card I've ever had. I know it'll last me a good long while (I was using an i740 before that and it had been a good to me for a long time. I expect this card to play the things I want to play even longer). I bought it with the intention of not having to upgrade my video card for a while. So what if I paid double what I could have paid. I expect it to last twice as long. =)

  17. Re: MX on More on the GeForce 3 · · Score: 1

Well, actually, the GeForce2 MX isn't really even a feature-reduced GeForce2 GTS. It's got the same core stuff, sure, but it supports TwinView, where the GeForce2 GTS does not, among other things.

Just one quickie question for anyone who can answer this, how does the DMCA directly affect Canadians? I realize the US does have alot of power but the DMCA was passed in the US, not here in Canada to my knowledge. Are there similar laws in Canada preventing us from descrambling dss signals from a US company's transmissions or is this another example of Canada enforcing something because of American pressure?

  24. Re:wisdom of the ages on Does Age Really Matter? · · Score: 1

Sure, but there are always other jobs. I have a hope and a hunch that I'll be around with this company for a decent length of time. I get along well enough with the management that I know even if they did have to lay me off it would be on reasonable terms. Worst case scenario, they'll go bankrupt in a month and I'll get a glowing letter of recommendation from the boss. =)

It's all good. The fact that they actually trusted me enough to give me keys gives me enough respect for them that I wouldn't dare to do anything to put that trust in question. It's a good thing.
