Fox doesn't like Futurama for ONE REASON ALONE - They don't own it. Groening(sp?) does. They only buy it. For futurama to defect to Cartoon Network would be a real coup, but not impossible.
I rarely get upset at responses to flame bait. But here goes. Life is sacred. All life should be given the best of possible chances. There are many people who can't/won't provide that for their children... THEREFORE they should NOT be having children. I know you have visions of goose-stepping nazis running through your narrow mind right now, but BELIEVE me when I tell you this: My mother in law is a childcare specialist... she hold no degree, has more experience with children than people with PHD's ever will. She slogs out a living RAISING children born to people with a mere fraction of the average intelligence even YOU'D expect a parent to have before bringing a child into this life. These parents themselves were wards of the fucking state, and are placing an enormous burden on society NOT TO MENTION THEIR OWN CHILDREN everytime the reproduce. These people CAN'T be repaired, and there is little hope for their children. Now... you try working day after day with the most disadvantaged (not because of The MAN, but because of their own abusive parents) kids on thefucking earth. Then look me in the eye and tell me that abuse doens't begin at conception. Because it does. Breeding is NOT a right. It is a reponsibility.
I couldn't agree more. The biological imperitive that people feel ticking away in their head is not a freedom. It's a resource. One that the community may or may not want to allow to gestate. It hurts to break life down like that, but consider the consequences. Life IS sacred, so much so that it should be given the best of possible chances.
Two shows... Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Futurama. Buffy Season 1 only just now became available in the US, in other regions it's been available for almost a year. Futurama Season 1 is recently available in the UK, it'll probably be several more months before we see a US release. Both cases have caused fans MUCH distress.
like you're not a bloody hypocrite yourself. You mean to tell me you're fasting from all corporate sponsored entertainement until such a time as "The Man stops his evil ways"? I'm SO glad I don't have/.'ers hang-ups. Convictions or not, you're all coming across like a great lot of quakers. You'll get bored of milking cows and playing shareware soon enough.
No? I was envisioning green barrels of waste that made a satisfying boom/explosion when shot with a rail gun... They could be placed randomly throughout empty warehouses, and be used in crate jumping exercises.
Yes, they are a strong-headed lot. So what? There's no such thing as an insurmountable force, both in nature or the market. It's certainly a blaise, basic, even rudimentary argument, but it still stands to reason that the industry would do well to come up with it's own solutions to a monopolistic "checkmate", instead of relying on the talent of it's lawyers it should rely on the strength of it's programmers and engineers. The industry can be summed up so succinctly: PATHETIC.
Hmm... sour grapes maybe? If Joe Cartoon is the best example you can come up with for a "good" flash page, you're not surfing the right sites. If lowbrow humor is all that gets you, then you'll not have noticed that you DON'T have to visit sites running flash. That's right, you too can click "back", and simply not visit sites leaden down with bad flash. And I agree there's alot of them. You're right that not everyone in NA has flash, but so what? Most corporate sites have non flash pages, most users without the broadband don't surf those sites. Why should all of our net experience SUCK MORE because some people can't get BB? You wanna even the playing field with the rest of the world? Then you wouldn't even have bloody electricity. We do because we can.
Der... your AdBusters subscription is about to run out! You can get a new 12 month subscription for the low-low price of $24.00. Better yet, buy a copy of "Witty Things Libertarians Say in an Argument" for 12.00 and we'll give you the first month free...
This goes along with the take-no-prisoners attitude that has been seen coming from MS execs like that sales guy who wrote the "kill linux" e-mails.
How do you know that? Maybe MS employees happen to be proud of their own work and support their coworkers and peers. I enjoy my job and the products we produce. I encourage others to buy them and I encourage my coworkers both by helping them with tech help and a supportive "pat on the proverbial back". My company employs many people, who aren't infallible but work hard at their jobs. Am I being immoral if I vote for my company's product or encourage my coworkers to vote as well? How is it any different for MS?
I've seen this reaction before on/. and of all the trollish remarks about the net, this one upsets me the most. Why does Flash exist? Flash exists NOT to serve as THE medium for net communication but to serve as an excellent medium for MULTIMEDIA on the net. Seems simple enough. If you'd like to go back to ASCII and text based browsing, feel free. While the rest of us are using the New Net, a vector graphic marvel rivaling even the concepts put forth in cyberpunk novels, you can surf ASCII porn and grumble about how slow the net is. As someone already said, if you're looking for clear and concise in a multi media world, you're using the wrong bloody medium.
er, so, IS there a perfect email system out there that will NEVER suffer virii, bugs, gpf, etc? Where are these mythical apps and why does noone write virii to attack them?
ooh! and you have a girly last name! Yes, dearth means shortage... yes koolaid and coke is not a didn't also find it to be a vapid waste of precious/. space (a replenishable resource I'll remind you).
I WAS pointing out how sad/sorry it is to waste MOD points let alone energy on a sanctimonious ass who decides to parade the obvious around like he's making a good point... SO next TIME you MAKE a POST to SLASHDOT (spastic caps man), consider THIS: upbraider I may be, but you misspelled insightful! HARFUCKINGHARHARHAR.
PS. When did "dearth" become a fancy word? I misuse a word momentarily, you mispell a word. Tomatoes/Tomatoes, it's a useless argument and gets your points NOWHERE strawman.
"It will never cease to amaze me that there is this army of trolls just lying in wait to come up with the stupidest, most knee-jerk BLAH BLAH BLAH...."
good lord, do YOU ever shut up?/.'ers will never cease to amaze in the "Pretentious asshole" department. The guy glanced at the headline, thought "hmm... sun... power... BOOM!" and posted. BFD. The rest of us READ the review... made some witty remarks... moved on. YOU had to be a prick, shoving your glasses up your acne strewn nose, and chortle under your breath about this fellow's "uninformed comment".
True, there is a dearth of "idiots" like this guy. But there always seems to be a thin foul mist of pretention hanging between them and the rest of us non-reactionary types.
Ok, now, breathe slowly... calm down now and catch your breath. Ok, now, tell me... what you're saying is browsing with IE is equivalent to running a sweatshop in korea, using underage labor, supporting a corrupt monarchy, and watching a full season of three's company... That's alot of evil that alot of Users are committing every minute of every day. Or maybe that's just a lot of Users expressing their freedom of choice to view you exercising your freedom to be an alarmist psycho.
JS/Cookie/Image management per site? Do you HAVE a life? Do you just surf the web all day, setting up your own personal settings for each site you go to?
Oooh... Favicon's... be still by developer's heart... BLOAT... I'm imagining it alright. Imagining it making my favorties look like a spastic list of crap
Fast render engine? Says who? Oh, you mean after the 6hrs it took you to compile it? Again, this relies on good designers, NOT the browsers.
"IE totally screws up my CSS2 compliant web page."
Duh, that's because you built it with Mozilla. How do you know Mozilla is rendering it improperly and IE isn't? Do you see how stupid this debate is getting?
DBZ is known to lobotomize children! Any show that encourages wee ones to stand around making constapated faces and pummel each other with lame dialog and stupid character names deserves to be banned. Save your kids now and make them watch toons with a brain... JLA 9:30 monday nights, Bebop dvds, even mononoke's a kiddie favorite around my house. DBZ is the worst of the worst.
Again... have you bothered to read up on Mr Irwin? Even a little? Have you watched the show? His fun banter makes up a small fraction of the narration on the show, his also-expert wife provides a good deal of narration as well, she too is a scientist. One of my favorite episodes is set in madagascar and shows the plight of the poor lemurs that live on the island who have made a poor transition with the ravages of industrialization and tourism. It was a touching, educational episode. You know, the revolution probably will end up being televised... or at least webcast. Instead of fighting the tube, learn to decode it. You might learn something and help others learn too.
Hawking has a couple of old Nova episodes and a handful of specials. The are informative, and he too has a certain amount of celebrity that pays off, (see the Simpsons

The children should be taken away and the mothers should be put in institutions. They are unfit parents... Personal responsiblility... IT'S A CHOICE
