IBM has had a ripoff like this for a while now. Atleast 2 years ago our school got a lab full of IBMs that look exactly the same as the Gateway version.
ok, this is what pisses me off. Cable companies are now requiring me to buy cableTV to get cablemodem. If not, my cablemodem costs me 58 bucks a month. DSL in this town (baton rouge) costs $50 a month + tax etc. Either way, i pay close to 60 a month for high speed internet.
I'm an internet junky, and i'm declaring the dream almost dead. Why want to know why? I'm going back to dial-up, and dialing into where i work.
Here's an idea... Ok, what if we just put the equiv. of wireless hubs in all cell phones. The internet would be where the phones are. That's where the people would be. Clouds of internet access would float around with the population. Such a kool idea!

I thought, now people will be complaining about stupid lindows users. But think about it, if everyone was as as smart as most linux users, their windows boxes wouldn't be as fucked up w/virii or whatever from outlook.
Here's my point. It's not the OS it's the user that sucks. If it's user friendly, you get stupider people.

Have any of you actually had to work in a lab full of "Easy to use" windows machines. And the people couldn't figure that out.
Just imagine how difficult it would be if they were all linux/BSD/whatever.
Here's why i'm jilted by this:
About 2 weeks ago I had to argue with a girl for about 1/2 hour that should couldn't print her report on the Solaris machine she was trying to use in our lab. Then she went to the windows machine and still couldn't figure it out.
If this does happen (open sourced schools) I REALLY feel bad for the admins. May god have mercy on their souls.
Someone quick!, I have a program due in PROLOG in about 5 hours!
ok, I just need to convert a string to all caps so I can compare it to its reverse (simple palindrome program)
I've gotten everything to work except converting the string to all caps, or all lowercase, or finding a caseless compare statment. 1 of the 3 will work and save my ass.
because I searched for it on my site and I discussed it earlier. I can also post the link faster that way. It's amazing how much you care about trivial things. I feel sorry for you. heh

Linux's main setback is the lack of multimedia and using Netscape.
I love the fact that people brag about linux's reliability, when Netscape would crash every 10 minutes. I want overall reliability.

I think Broadband hasn't caught on because it's the fact that the U.S. has too many toys right now to pay for. Something's got to be cut out.

Possible? VERY MUCH SO. It's already been done to the PS2 for less than 20 bucks.
