Surely you aren't claiming that Roosevelt, Kennedy, Johnson, and Clinton were more abusive in their power than Hoover?
Anyway, I hardly think political affiliation is relevant to this issue. I would pin in on personality disorders, connections in the FBI, and the influence of Machiavelli, all of which are traits found in both Republicans and Democrats.;)
Apparently my email (slashdot@miteg.hn.org) was used in the from field in at least one message from an infected computer that ended up being bounced.
It's interesting that the only place this email address appears is on Slashdot, and I don't even post all that frequently. Looks like someone here isn't using Linux.;)
I'm pretty sure Pine won't be affected;) I'd post the base64 but it's big (~114KB).
Once you get a decent stereo set up, you'll realize that most internet radio stations sound like crap.
As for video, 100Mb is easily fast enough to stream DVDs. The simple approach is to do what I've done for my home theater and use Cat5 and duct tape for connectivity, but you may want to go for something a little more glamorous;]
Well, no. He intended to "bore the audience" with 10 hours of footage. Then he got an experienced editor to edit the movie down to 6 hours so it would be WATCHABLE. Then the production company cut it down to three hours so it would be PROFITABLE.
It was merely an observation that the final cut of most films is usually not "the way the director intended you to view it."
For example, the original cut of The Thin Red Line was just under six hours in length while the theatrical release was 170 minutes, a 50% reduction. The aspect ratio change is only a 44% reduction in content.
Generally, much of the film the way the director intended for it to be seen is left on the cutting room floor to meet the magic 100 or 120 minute mark. This probably discards as much information as the conversion from 2.35:1 to 1:33:1 aspect ratio.
Same for me. I was about 10 when it first came out, and the only PC we had that could play it was in the garage. Playing late into the night was terrifying; it was drafty and there was a single 60W light bulb for illumination.
It didn't help that I had an irrational fear of garages since I heard the mother of a friend of mine was murdered in one.
Like I've said before, the Department of Justice would be more aptly named the Department of Prosecution. At least Ashcroft has his priorities straight.
If you're upset at SciFi for canceling the show now, just wait until you see tonight's episode.
Completely unsatisfying, it's cliffhanger that will probably never be resolved.
Here's to hoping UPN ends up picking up the show for a fifth season.

Is anyone else having connection troubles? I've been getting timeouts like crazy servers all over the internet for most of the afternoon.
Looks like we may be seeing something similar to 9/11, people hitting ctrl-r constantly looking for more news. Or, on the other hand, it's entirely possible that I borked my router box.
Hardly. The product reviewed was far from the polished final version we'll see in stores, and the drivers were beta and buggy. I'm not saying it will live up the "80% of a Ti4600" claim, but the price point will put it in competition with the vastly inferior MX series.
Regardless, Trident's biggest customer has always been OEM's, so if they can deliver a cheap, decent card, they'll easily hit their target market.
By using the Anti-Image service, you can protect all your images and make it impossible for people to download them from your site. You will also stop other webmaster trying to leech them directly of your server.
Okay, obfuscating the URL of the GIF with some screwy PHP probably isn't the best way to "secure" your images. To bypass their method, just view the source to find the scripted redirect that points to the actual image
You'll probably have to copy and paste those URL's because they seem to block off-site deep linking.
I usually use TAC as my AIM client when using a Linux system. It's great because it's small, console based, and is pretty flexible. If you want to mess around with it you'll have to know a bit of TCL, but I don't think it's still being developed so you're not likely to get much help. By default it supports logging to a file as well as reading from a file to send messages, so it wouldn't require much hacking to get a quick and dirty version working of what you want. Possibly try logging messages with the content you want executed to a script file, then something else to specify when to execute the script. It wouldn't be pretty or secure but it might do what you want.
The article is much more critical than I would have imagined. I've always seen Reuters as being in the pockets of big corporations like Microsoft, but there seems to be more criticism than praise.
Maybe there's hope for Palladium being struck down after all?
I'm sure they'll show reruns for years on SciFi, and failing that there is always alt.binaries.tv.farscape. But it would really be a shame if no new content was created.
Intel was just hit by the bug (or was it planned?) of the increased power consumption of higher clocked P4's on the same die. This seems to be a lot higher clock speed than the top of the line Athlon XP now, and I think it already uses around 70 watts. Is there any chance AMD will be struck with the same problem and forced to design new MB's supporting the power requirement boost? If it doesn't happen with this model, perhaps it will in the future.
w/something as powerful as the ipaq, rather than trying to cram as much space as possible into it wouldn't it be cool to have a service to connect to w/it a la mp3.com or roadrunner rhapsody?
I'm sure it works with the windows bittorrent.exe as well.

Something like hosts.allow would be the simplest approach if you're on a static IP. Depends on how much you trust your co-workers though.
Don;t listen to thesr poeple, I spent hours as a kid starring at teh sun, adn my visoin is fine! ;]

To nitpick you: the spelling the grandparent post was fine, it's the grammar that needs work.
Thanks. I'm pretty sure the link worked when I submitted the story.

I blame slashdot

Mailblocks is not free! They charge either $9.95 or $24.95 a year depending on the file size limitation you choose.

maybe 802.11 could use some more developers?
