Oh, and it really galls me that the CC companies see it as more cost effective writing off a certain (small to them) % due to fraud instead of making the system more secure. Too bad for you if you're one of the people who's credit is foobared by some sleazbag.
One more instance of the asymmetric nature of the corp <--> relationship.
There was a report on the local radio new this morning about some 19-year old doing just that at the car rental agency he worked at. Scammed at least two people for hundreds of dollars of merchandise before he got caught. Mainly because he had the loot bought with different stolen CC information to the same address.
It does happen. Fairly often. It's not rocket science. And apparently many of the people doing aren't rocket scientists. Well, at least the ones that get caught.
I am the president of the Bank of Nigeria and have a problem I need help with. Cmdr Taco has frozen the government's accounts in an illegal effort to censor us.

YOU try writing coherently while a superintelligent satellite beams reruns of the Roman empire into your brain! I bet that you couldn't even purple monkey dishwasher! But then, again, long term drug abuse does have its downside.
Please, please, PLEASE! I cannot stress this enough, never, ever, for any reason, register to read a New York Times story! THEY WANT TO STEAL YOUR BRAIN!
If you register online to read a story, their spybots automatically pin down your location using an algorithm based on the well-know scientifical principal that YOUR COMPUTER IS TRANSMITTING AN IP ADDRESS! Using this "IP ADDRESS", they can scan MSN mapquest and find out where you live. Once they have that information, it is a simple matter to send a priority override to point the NSA mind-control satellites (when they're not otherwise busy zapping agriglyphs into English wheatfields) at your house to read your mind. Then they steal your precious intellectual property, which they license to SCO!
To all the unemployed rocket scientists that flamed me for that : During the Apollo era, they would have evaluated every possible contigency scenario and been able to pull out a big fat binder and open it to a page with step-by-step instructions about how to recover.
We've seen that NASA management was aware of the foam sloughing issue -- so why didn't they at least think about how to handle the worst case scenario? Burning up a $5billion dollar camel and seven human beings is more than just a little "oopsie". 1. They didn't prevent the situation. 2. They made an ill-advised decision without exhausting all possibilities. (Did they do an EVA to visually inspect the damage?)
Jeebus Christ, don't those idiots remember what we did in the Inslaw affair? (Not so much what was done to Inslaw, but the backdoors the CIA put into software which was then sold to unfriendly countries.)
He's quoting one of the NDA signers who evaluated the code to verify SCO's claims.
If there are COPYRIGHT NOTICES that are common to SCO & Linux, they would stand out like sore thumbs to anyone investigating the Linux Kernel code. UNLESS they were some version of a OS copyright GPL/BSD,etc.
So the fact that this guy is citing COPYRIGHT messages as instances of commonality between the code bases indicates that he has no grasp of the issue.
Should read: "One more example of the asymmetric nature of the corp <--> individual relationship"

My Grandma was Grace Hopper, you insensitive clod!
Could that then be called an mono^H^H^H^H escalator to nowhere?!!!

Ever watch "Serial Mom"?
I'm sure Kathleen Turner's character bears absolutely no similarites to any personalities living or dead.
"342a) Development of a sophisticated AI codenamed "SKYNET" to get first post on www.slashdot.org on every story posted ----- $250,000"
(Am I lying or am I not?)
Real Pirates kill people and steal their tangible property.
Why. Does. the Department of JUSTICE have a stable of lawyers to enforce copyright when that is a <blink> CIVIL </blink> matter?!!!
(or a supergenius criminal?)
Either way, I agree its in poor taste considering Reagan's affliction."
Maybe it's KARMA.
It's funny because it's TRUE! (And ironic!)
Whatever happened with their "audio ::Cue::Cat" that you connected your TV to your soundcard? Too much like popup ads?

The right stuff -- NOT!
Face it, every time an Astronaut dies, (s)he was murdered by bueracracy.

"Just as we would never agree that it is right to steal someone's clothes or furniture, it is not right to steal music."
"I choose to steal what you chose to show"
I'll steal your fire, too!
Smelly and hard to clean, tho.
That's not tasty, that's just GROSS!
I've got an awsome idea, but I can't figure out how to silk screen a <blink> tag!!!
Yeah, I was wondering about that. So, much like the machines in "The Matrix", UL is helping to breed a perfect fool, correct?
