You may not be aware that one of the characters in the movie was played by Liv Tyler. This was done from a casting couch hovering directly over the shark. basically, this musical is the equivalent of the string quartet that Brahmsed it's way down with the Titanic.

why, with your airtight reputation for being able to spot (and drive!) trends, i'd say this is pretty much guaranteed to be a spot-on prediction. particularly if the prediction was made in 1999.

i'm just happening that someone, somewhere, manages to save the trademark 'zire'. that is a precious word, and one that we can't take for granted.

  8. *sigh* on OSS Not Ready for Prime Time in Education? · · Score: 1

This is not meant to be a troll, but submitter -- time to look in the FUD mirror.

As a Mac zealot myself, I recognize in your 'I suspect...' statement the painful sort of denial of the obvious of which we are always accused.

I always tell people, who ask how I could possibly be an atheist, to go to church just once and think about everything that is said as if there is no God, and to realize how silly and contradictory it sounds. I'd suggest the same to you with this article. Go back and read it as though you aren't an OSS champion. See if it holds logical water (so to speak).

i think the opposite is true. anyone who makes the determination that it is more important to make money than to be a public servant is someone i specifically don't want representing me. not that elected officials should make lousy wages -- but the idea that good candidates don't run because they don't make enough is, in my opinion, erroneous.
