    I think your mistaking Advanced Dungeon's and Dragons with Dungeon's and Dragons the latter is played in forest with real people etc...

    I think you mean free like in open source and not in free as beer. Since most software you download for free contains spyware like kazaa and grokster, those applications are free because they try to make money tru spyware.

    There you can download winsockfix.exe which will try to repair the winsock settings for win9x/me and xp. works really like a charm most of the time.

    Yes, my girlfriend hasnt installed any spyware since she is using a mac. IE is really borked by default.

    Same as above but then for virusses. For some reason she still tries to open attachments but they dont do crap ;)

    -Is a Mac 'superior' at performing standard office taks? (Make a spreadsheet, text document and so on.)
    Right i think not, but with Office X its not worse then windows.

    But if you compare it to Linux/Unix systems or something other not windows its not really better/worse and even not more expensive. My iBook laptop was not much expensiver then a HP or Dell laptop, thought it is much user friendlier then windows or linux.

    I dont play games anymore since i ditched windows and got a Mac, just some browser/web-based games.

    I understand that its illegal and not moral to watch, but still it seems like sertain people have an urge for it. Tons have been produced over the years over the backs of poor children. I suggest that we collect all childporn, make it public available so that no new childporn has to be produced, since sure there is enough for some sickfolks to jerk of everyday at a new picture, not ?

    I dont think this will increase the abuse of children for sex, nor decrease, but maybe it wont be commercialy intresting anymore. There is no way we can stop how humans feel and act, we just have to find a good way to deal with it. Blocking it isnt the way nor is locking up people who look at it, just get rid of the demand by overflooding the market with cheap shots...

    I saw a documentaire on TV about this. And it looks pretty harmless, the rats are too light to make the mine's go off.
    I agree that the who's gonna cry entry was a bit lame...but they wont be upset i guess, since the rats wont be harmed in anyway, they just have to work a bit. The show showed the rats on the humans like monkeys on shoulders, seemed they where enjoying them selves.

    They are trained to smell the explosive materials on the mines and get food if they find it, seems pretty oke for some hard work =) Further more they are way faster then humans cleaning up mine fields, since they use stick in a 30 degree angel in heavy protective suits and have to put the stick in the ground every couple of centimeters. But sure this stuff is in the article..which i ofc didnt read.

    Good point...

    Its that people like there smilies in the email, so they keep installing stuff like that, unless you can give them a good alternative they will keep doing it.

    I remove spy/malware daily for a living nearly, like 25% or such. Some people are glad the computer is fast and smooth again, but still miss the software.

    Or even worse some paid for spywareremoval software which includes even more shit with it.

    I always tell people that spyware is what pays for the free software they download and install, the sun doesnt come up for nothing.

    I think its because, MS thinks people with OOo cant read word documents, so they have to spread it in a world readable format, cause else only MS word users would read it. Who ofc are allreaddy using MS Office :)

    And DOS with Wordperfect where fine for that, noone needed windows etc...

    Then:Boot computer (5 seconds later)
    at c:\ type wp, hit enter.
    write your letter with wp refernce manual next to you. hit F7 to quit and power of computer.

    Today: Boot computer (30 sec - 2 minutes later)
    Login, press start, press programs, press word.
    Type letter, press file, press quit.
    press start, press shutdown, press ok.
    (wait 30 secs - 2 mins or for ever with win98 ;)
    power off computer.

    Somehow i feel writing a letter just became harder with a gui, you have to know much more steps.
    We have to reduce the steps.

    I say make a computer that boots fast, has 3 buttons. 1 Internet(www) 2 email 3 wordprocessor
    and nothing else, and you must eb able to turn it of at once..

    And now i have to leave so i wont spell check or check if it was nonsence i wrote.

    Dash is a commercial cloth washing product in the netherlands or was not sure...i dont do the washin very often,but dash had a commercial "dash 3 in 1" its about the product multiple things, lindows is even more..., go figure... :)

    Guess you have no idea what this can do to home computers, it makes them crawl! It uses bandwidth and CPU time to find email addresses on your harddisk and then mail them.

    This with some spy/malware will make any "old" computer feel like shit, lucky i make money cleaning those machines. But never the less it costs productivity world wide...and a lot too if you ask me...people kicking there computers ;-)

    It for starters says it sends information from your computer to real and even better you agreed to the fact that real can install software on your computer with telling you.

    After reading the first few lines of the End User License Agreement I pressed cancel and figured i could live without the real player.

    People start reading those damn licenses! its full fo crap you dont want to accept, but if you do dont whine afterwards, oke? :)

    They know windows, most of them do atleast, and thats all they know...

    At my old company we had about 10 mac's but there wheren't supported by IT, since they wanted courses first.
    I also worked at the IT dep and i would look at them with my coworker, but we where the system programmers....not the support staff...

    And ofcourse its true that MS creates lots of jobs with there windows, since it needs loads of support. I advice MAC's to my customers, since i own a mac, my girlfriend does and it works fine. And as an PC Repair Man we also have MAC jobs todo, since they have problems too, but most of the time you can really help automate these people instead of putting your time in support. Thats what IT should be about, automating things instead of supporting. Computers are like TV's you turn them on and they work, unless you buy crap.

    Might i say however the game might not be an orginal, the play style is. Freeciv is imho the only good multiplayer civ game, something the orginal probably still lacks.

    Freeciv created an active civ playing community of people who love the orginal civ game. Its not that i and maybe other dont like to pay for the original (which i did, i own two diffrent versions). Its just that freeciv offers something the original doesnt.

    And there for i disagree thats its LAME! wake up and smell the coffee...

    We stop accepting them as a common thing, when manufactorers decide to give something a longer development cycle. Now its design, produce, sell and then test. Look at loads of firmware and software updates that are around.

    Its normal that a company makes money on support instead of the products they are selling, so it should be crap, otherwise they cant deliver support and it should be just a bit better then the other supplier to make it sell, its better not ? ;-)

    You can always configure options/ctrl/apple key to use in combination with the mouse buttons as difrent mouse buttons.

    But i was used to 3 buttons for years using, IRIX and linux, but now i got an iBook i figured its pretty smart to have but one button, you have to think less and trust me you dont need more buttons. right click menu's are a bogus and confusing interface method, you have a menu in the top your app for it and cause the menu is in the top of the screen nearly all mac apps have shortcuts keys for everything, meaning you will learn to use them, because you dont want to move the mouse up to the top everytime you want todo a action, which makes working faster in the end :)

    indeed true, just have put it in nice words, but you forget the point that consumers expect a product that works and that is fully done, instead of downloading firmware and other software updates. The cycle is getting to short. I got one costumer who i offered a onsite garanty for 1-3 years, she replied do computers break ? Which shows people think they buying a freaking washingmachine, while it costs even more often :)

    Washingmachines have a life time of around 15-20 years i guess, computers about 1-3 years.
    This is because the technical computer stuff is so new every year and so...

    1: Its to expensive to make it failsafe, development would take to long.
    2: You cant refine/redesign and resell, because of new technologie.
    3: If it just works noone will buy new systems, so they have to fail every now and then.

    While with other consumer products they have a much longer development cycle, cars for example shouldnt fail and if it should be fairly easy to repair, cars also have been around since i dont know like a hundred years and have they changed much ?. Computers heck just buy a new one or hire a PC Repair Man (Dutch only) todo your fixing.

    excuse me for my bad english ;-) but i hope you got the point, no time to ask my living dictionary.

    Idea's are worth something to0, maybe there good maybe there bad, maybe they suck at coding, but please leave some respect.

    I wrote some of my idea's on paper, why ? no idea, did i ever really do something with it, not really. Mainly i started and failed in finishing, but someday someone will do the same and gets someone with the power to continue and make us all a bit more happy. You will loose anyways if you dont try!

    Just aslong enough souls believe something it becomes our reality since more and more start believing. Its like a sort of Matrix...

    One person thinks its a donut, then he convince's person two etc, etc, until the universe is what we think it is. Isnt this why science keeps coming with new improved idea's ?
