another idea foiled... this is really a great idea should security concerns be dealt with well. an additional way to generate revenue is to cross this with project management tools and project weblogs.
most of my shooting has been art, though i have always been interested in resolution, or at the opposite end a lack of it. digital is great for many things and i would now consider it an equal to film in many ways. btw, i have worked in digital pre photoshop 1.0... so,;P
but, i am looking for another camera system, and will either go with the leica 8 or 9, or another hasselblad. both take digital backs! save your pennies! the eos may be a great body, and they do have nice lenses, but if you have ever shot with leicas or zeisses, you know what lense quality will do. even nikons, the near best in may ways, cannot compete with a truly great lense.
and, how exactly do you shoot black and white with digital. you have to print at some point, even if it is simply to do it. i am not printing ciba's any longer, but a ciba print has got to be the coolest thing ever. you'll want to lick them! think down the road ten years, because that's how long you'll have this sytsem.
hell, my mind is made up... the hasselblad... but, that leica is so damned nice! grrrr.
"Asus' latest model, the M2N, is sold in the US only as a barebone notebook ((i.e., no CPU, RAM, hard drive or operating system). However, it does have Intel's 855GM chipset with integrated graphics and Intel's WLAN module (Pro/ WLAN2100), and that makes it worthy of the name Centrino. For this review, we used a 1.6 GHz Pentium-M processor with this model."
and, how does this compare to an iBook? it's like buying a car with no seats, engine, wheels/tires, and an empty gas tank! but, they cost the same amount! huh?
a bought 4 when they first came out like 3 years ago. they run osx fine with 1g of ram. great purchases, and aside from employees dropping them, absolutely no problems. my son's ibook has been great also, and runs osx and some games fine for his needs, but i would recommend a g4 for anything intensive.
i do agree that ms smart phone is going to give symbian a run for the money, but not with that phone. as the mobiles begin to become limited computers with office-like applications and docking capabilities (larger screen and a mouse for home or school), ms might have a distinct advantage. i wish psion still had a symbian netbook. i single platform would really aid in development across different devices, and symbian is not helping.
FUD!!!! scream with us! aaaaahhh! iTunes is evil!!!
yes you can burn mp3's! but sadly not ogg, nor (but not sadly) wma. it just works.
i particularly like the way apple uses rendevous/zeroconf to network iTunes. can you say back door? excuse me m$ can you turn around so that i can kick you in the ass? thanks.
does anybody use the p800 with services in the us? i assume these would be t-mobile and att&t. the p900 is supposed to be available here in january, but i have never seen anybody with a p800.
i imagine that the linux version would be a requirement for the chinese market, since thay have a chinese specific version--p908. apple needs to get itunes (lite where required) everwhere, including linux and devices. beat sony to the punch with their mobile initiatives.
all the lawsuits over unix, source code pulled, high prices, software patents! hey, hold on, that's today!
why can't they all just sit still and accept our software from on high? sure it's expensive, and buggy, but they'll never catch up! hey, that software is getting pretty good!
those, those linux users... they're evil! evil i say! they must be crazy or something! hey, don't use that software, it's made by crazy people!
unless of course, the trip to blockbuster is to dowload a movie to the hard disk on your cell phone via wi-fi, which charges your cell bill, which connects to your television... and plays your movie.
perhaps the idea of a personal server is not for your average consumer.
palm zire 21 (i know we all buy the absolute cheapest pda's) $99, plus say $199 for a reasonable mobile, equals $298 for nearly slumming it!
versus $499 (retail)...
now if your purchase is subsidized in any way, or if the convenience of not synching your cell and pda is an issue, $200 may not be a bad price differnetial. my bsuiness cell account runs about $250/month.
good thing that i don't use Photoshop the whole day... only half of it. i would have never noticed that 20% of my time! can you say altivec? it's also a good thing that i like many people buy their computers for the applications they are going to use, not the shiny cases or 3% savings. i'm feeling downright taken advantage of! but i feel better when i look at my shiny g5!
my closest religious group according to the religion quiz was the quakers who apparently were quite tolerant and flexible in their religious outlook. i would almost consider them anti-religious in comparison to the current right wing government.
what a nice thread too. only a half dozen good comments, and loads of blather. it has actually changed my understanding of the issue.
this is correct. innovation and great service is what drives business growth. businesses become commodified otherwise. many in this country seem to think that a job is a guaranteed right. or that a good local economy is guaranteed. this takes continual effort. but, what many economies are doing other than using tariffs, is to finance infrastructure and invest in its citizens.
next time you turn down the local school board for a rate increase, or would rather have that tax cut (ooh $300!) so that you can charge the future, remember your job. think globally, act locally!
what is the primary business of a publisher? content creation? no! distribution platform development? no! product distribution? bingo. most publishers are primarily distribution mechanisms with most of their assets in warehousing, sales/marketing, and by extension editorial to massage the products into saleable form. content creation and management is negligible. you want to kill the existing publisher's business models and expect them to collaborate.
what is required for ebooks to succeed is a market willing to pay a reasonable amount for the product or sufficient financial returns--subscriptions... and a good selection of content. this is still some years off. witness the music business. the new economy is still a decade out--epaper, mobile devices powerfull enough to be pc's, a decent cellular network in the us. voip and ethernet to the home. database driven content management within the publishing system as the norm. lots of infrastructure needs to be built as this is a seiemic shift in the valuation of products.
i'm interested in mobile device development for the education market--think emate/mobile device or the current netbook pro. i agree with your assessment of what a specific mobile device does not need, so long as this mobile device is a palmtop with a pen interface. but, as mobile device proliferate perhaps what is required are categories of widget sets for the various tyoes of devices people use. the problem for getting content to be mobile is a much larger concern, and to solve this better standards for mobile java, xml, xhtml need to be adhered to and match the capabilities of the devices being used.
i agree with your opinion of windows for tablet pc, but does anybody really expect that microsoft is going to create the next generation of gui's?
in "war in the age of intelligent machines" delanda compared battle formations to machinery. an interesting question might be, what does it take to step from object to machine? and, perhaps later, what does it take to step from machine to intelligence, or are they the same? is intelligence a cascading effect, like the recent power outage? or does it take intelligence to create a cascading effect, like pulling the plug?

Nothin' like dodging your chance at serving your country, goin' AWOL, and havin' daddy bail you out! you've got me why anybody in a uniform would vote for this guy, especially when all he does is cut their benefits. clueless!
ibm has layed out similar plans for modular storage blocks (http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&i e=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=ibm+storage+bricks) connected by pads on the surfaces. good luck patenting that, unless the application was made a couple of years ago.
open up a g5 case... it's amazingly clean! it looks like a lab or a ferrari engine compartment. i love the lian-li cases, but these put everything else to shame. as with all things mac, ymmv.
here's a google search on the first name on the list (http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&i e=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=%22Drew+Auman%22). entertaining at parties! must be a fun guy! email addresses were not present, though as you can see from the first google entry, they very likely use Hotmail accounts. But, Google knows all. sorry! pathetic.
As a mac user who just so happens to live with a tablet pc now, there are two pieces of software i cannot live without. These are... ta da: TabletPlanner by Franklin, and the Google toolbar. I used to just try and type in a url thinking i might just get it. but with Explorer, i get sent to MSN hell with a listing of top Microsoft approved sites... mostly MSN sites. It makes me want to chuck! There was an interview with a Googleman who wondered why people would type in a url as a search... Here's your answer. Please Steve! It's called a TabletPCeee. Very nifty stuff, and the handwriting recognition is actually good--unlike my beloved Newton that you led to the slaughter. And, please don't bother unless you can get Franklin-Covey on board.

only $35.00 a gig! thanks!
but, i have 2000 cd's, so i guess i only need 4 of these for immediate use... and one for the future!
