of so many horrible things. Why should treason be any less believable than any of the things we already knew about. He was a sad, sick megalomaniac who didn't give a fig about any one but himself. He became the archetype for the future republican party even more so than Reagan. Reagan gets the credit for the horrors these people have inflicted on this country simply because he was likable where Nixon was not.
that Nvidia support for Linux is first rate. I've been using Ubuntu with Nvida cards for years. If you've eliminated Nvidia from consideration I think you're cutting off your nose as it were.
I've recently converted a late 2006 vintage Macbook, 2Ghz Core 2 with 2Gb Ram, and it is also wonderful. Again, I'm running Ubuntu, and the Intel graphics and wifi work beautifully.
It is great to have so many options. We didn't have them in the past. I am about to build a new desktop PC and need to investigate fully before deciding on graphic support. Radeon needs a sniff since I am an AMD fan.
Anyone who says that linux isn't grown up is full of poop! After all, I just threw over OS X for Ubuntu on my laptop and I'm loving it!
BUTTS! The need to move their manufacturing BACK TO THE USA. Doing business as they have been is immoral and simply greedy! The price difference between Apple and Android is going to eat Apple's lunch!
I like Apple from a functional and software point of view, but continuing to abuse Chinese workers to ensure their massive profits has simply got to stop. Realizing this has caused me to have a lot less respect for Steve Jobs, the man who built Apple's current view of the world. RIP Steve, but maybe you should haunt Tim Cook to do the right thing.
You have to be kidding! This is like asking the fox to guard the hen house. Their only motive is profit and their top leadership is incompetent. For all of Javascripts problems, trusting Microsoft would be much worse. You might as well as developers to stab themselves in the eye.
We have yet another, the last, communist regime that doesn't give a rodent's rump about its people, despite their protests to the contrary. It is difficult to take China seriously as they run their country like one big capitalist enterprise but profess to hate everything capitalist.
there were rules AGAINST media companies owning one another and cross-media ownership. It seems those days are gone forever. It is very sad that we are allowing so much power to concentrate in so few hands.
and least successful company. I cannot imagine why anyone would admire Bill. Microsoft is a company waiting to die for all of its bad designs, bad attitudes and general abuse of the public weal.
Frankly, I won't have anything to do with them now that I've learned better (actually some time ago).
John Sculley was the wrong man at the wrong time to run Apple. My criteria for saying so are simple: success. Jobs has always succeeded where Sculley was a disaster.
Please understand that I am not a Jobs fanboy. He is not deserving of unlimited admiration for everything he does. Still there is the matter of Apple's stock being north of $300.
Sour grape John. Very sour.
Still, I'd like to know why any one would spend so much of their time playing a game? Like so many of our leisure activities, gaming produces nothing beyond some sort of satisfaction for the player, but 2,200 hours (91.66 days), seems a bit excessive. Personally I think this sort of thing borders (just being polite), on obsession or addiction.
Get some help, man!
I am a fan of Apple, but less and less often lately when Steve Jobs does his Steve Ballmer imitation and acts like a total JACKASS!
Android, and Linux more specifically, do stand for freedom which is why I wouldn't buy an iPhone even if I could afford the price of such elitist nonsense.
Oh and yes, I do have an Android phone!
My biggest problem with this proposition is that I make it a rule not to believe 99% of what Roger Ebert says. That goes double since his long-time friend Gene Siskel died (miss you, Gene).
I see Mr. Ebert's name always seeming to recommend EVERYTHING. I have a better chance of meeting a whore that is more discriminating than Mr. Ebert seems to be. Anyway, I'm not an afficianado of computer games, but many of the ones I've seen are seriously artistic, regardless of whether of not they involve rules or points or what have you.
If the Chrome OS is only an access point into a Google (or other) cloud then it is of no interest to me and shouldn't be of interest to anyone else. I haven't come this many years down the road of "personal" computing to hand over control of my apps and data to some faceless corporation.
Doesn't anybody else feel Big Brother tapping on their shoulder?
commercial software came the "Five Phases of Project." This old office saw came about because of the need to have a scapegoat in case of problems.
The Five Phases of a Project are:
1. Enthusiasm;
2. Panic;
3. Search for the Guilty;
4. Punishment of the Innocent;
5. Praise and honor of the non-participants.
This is in-line with the American program to (re-)conquer the economic world (again), this time through the constant application of stupid, employee abusing business practices to clearly soluble problems.
But I'm not bitter.
Right.
Very nice! I just took a look at your site (briefly), and am very impressed. I will recommend it to people looking to make the leap. I especially like your distro selector. It is very clear and easy to use and seems to give good advice.
Also, you are right about the recent improvements in the Linux Desktop. If some of the driver and codec issues that are still with us can get sorted out there should be no reason not to call Linux and Windows equal in terms of general utility.
Great stuff!
of a product that looks like it might fail is always a good idea. That way there is a clear reason for failure when it occurs.
to plow under with their idiotic designs and closed-source business model.
I never liked the Nook much anyway. If Microsoft gives Nook the kiss of death we might gain a little clarity in the book reader marketplace.
is a river in Egypt.
The stigma on Linux can't be any worse than the one that has settled on Windows 8.
Linux works and is the future, Windows is the past!

Don't buy Microsoft.
Redmond sucks up so much money from consumers that hardware makers are almost forced to load all that garbage just to survive.
I won't deal with M$. Neither should anyone else who really cares about computing.

all of which belies the fact that the phone is made by Foxconn, one of China's better known purveyors of junk.
Would that it weren't so.
how even Bill Gates gets to be right once in a while. After all, a stopped clock will always be right twice a day.
that foolishness is a universal virtue, and not confined to Americans like the followers of Sarah Palin,
a fellow named Edison found 10,000 things that didn't work before he found just one that did.
Think about it.

Facebook were actually worth anything like they say it is worth.
As it is, I am content to let all the foreigners lose their money on this Turkey.

"Healthcare" is not about health, it is about profit, just like everything else in our modern world.
