I can't find it on the BMW website, but BMW actually have a system which does exactly that. I think they do it with one camera with a lens system that splits the image 90 degrees both ways (so the camera faces forward and sees both left and right at the same time). It displays onto the satnav screen.
You mean to say that all your co-workers turn off their pc's? At a lot of the places I work at a very large percentage of the people don't turn off their machines ever. So stating that you should just turn it off when you're not using it doesn't seem to be as obvious as you and I seem to think it is.
We had a captain once on a UK-NL flight who did something similar. He gave us the preflight info on the PA system and then added "And as soon as my first officer takes his hands off the stewardess we're good to go" The shaming part worked: she did look quite red in the face when she came out of the cockpit;-)
I have to concur about their service. I recently mistyped the address on an order for a book that I wanted delivered to an office where I was doing some work at the time. The delivery failed ofcourse. They didn't ask me anything, just told me the address was incorrect and refunded me the full amount INCLUDING postage. Amazon might not be the greatest place on earth but to me that was better service then I'm used to.
I mostly deal with Amazon.co.uk, and I over the past few years found that their prices are almost always among the lowest I can find. One thing that bugs me is that they haven't set up shop in The Netherlands yet so no free shipping for me:-(
Actually, the amount of luggage you can take with you free of charge is different for each class on many airlines. 1st class can typically take 2 to 3 times the amount of economy. Frequent flyer status sometimes comes into this as well but I won't bore you with that.
Writing the post above made me get off my lazy a**e and rewire/move around the whole thing. I now put the AP inside the main house and ran a wire to my study (everything in there was wired anyway). I seem to have great reception all over the house now and even reasonable reception from my study. I had loads of trouble with interference from neighbours' wifi (I can see 7 networks that broadcast their SSID from my study) but that seems gone now.
You people should start building proper houses of steel reinforced concrete with windows like you mention. No need to paint the whole thing now, just the small wooden bits that are there to keep the panes of glass in place. It'll also stay up in a hurricane, be a bit less of a fire hazard and be easier to keep cool / warm as appropriate. It'll also keep a lot of the interference out (though it will stop/severely weaken a decent signal to a different floor depending on the layout of your house and placement of your AP).
I am actually planning to move my access point as reception around the house seems poor right now because the AP is now in my study (outside the main side walls of the house)
There has been some research published on effects on the brain that showed every drink has a negative impact there. I think the conclusion was that one drink a day could be justified to get the benefits described here, and more would be counterproductive. I read this in the newspaper earlier this year, and can't be bothered to google for it as I'm supposed to be working, so I don't have a reference handy.
When I read the explanation one of Microsofts developers gave of what Avalon is, I got the feeling that is an additional layer on top of DirectX, not a replacement. Their relationship sounded a bit similar to the way Quartz and OpenGL work on Mac OS X: Quartz (the engine that renders the desktop and UI elements) runs on top of OpenGL.
Your reply might have some merit, but it has nothing to do with the case in point, which is stopping a terrorist from boarding a plane and wreaking havoc. Israel has been pretty effective there.
Personally, I used to play the ZX Spectrum, back in the day. I was quite a poker, not to mention peek. Losses were minimal even though the 48k upgrade was pretty expensive.
Well at least you didn't say human rinds.... You'd think all those commercials for it would have made them more popular by now. (yes I know, I should stop watching Futurama for a couple of months now)
Funny how you refer to the people not on Linux as "Unwashed" masses. I can remember some geek/linux gatherings I attended that gave me a somewhat different impression. Several non-geeks I know will probably insist that referring to Linux users and personal hygiene in one sentence would demand the use of "lack of" in the same sentence.
Update: I managed to find it, go into the accessories section and look for something called "Side View".

You know your country's cuisine is in trouble when even Americans complain about it...

I hate it when people do that. Let them bring their own!

Only on Slashdot...

Commenting on how geeky/hot a woman is and then modding that informative
You don't suppose he's one of the original Windows?
Small correction:
Sony invented Beta, Philips invented Video2000, both were technically superior to VHS.
Story > fish > German
Oh no! they've caught the babelfish!

Looking at pictures of both i find "more elegant" to be a bit of a stretch. Where the Sikorsky looks semi-nice, the V22 looks positively ugly.
:-)
Just my opinion
What is this sneakernet people keep talking about? And more importantly does it exclude people with proper shoes?

In many of the tropical and sub-tropical regions there is more than enough sunlight to power the population
Dr. Frankenstein tried this with lightning and I think he had even more of a PR problem than nuclear power plants.

That should make the wires quite popular with the John Malkovices of this world.
Maybe the compressor or the thermostat...
