Yes, you can upgrade the MSIE to something newer. I'm running MSIE 5.5SP2 on my install, and it seems like 5.5SP2 is actually working better than the 5.0 that came with Office2k.
Actually, I don't hate Katz, I just find most of his "reviews" to be stupid, but I gotta admit, he writes some good stuff from time to time. Unfortunately, this is not one of those times.
Have you looked at the Linuxcare Bootable Toolbox? It's a distro that can be used on a credit-card sized CD. I only found out about it a couple of days ago, and I've been pretty impressed so far. Here's some linkage: http://lbt.linuxcare.com"

What's so evil about this? They're protecting themselves against theft. It's only evil towards the shoplifters, but nothing is bad about that. Are you sure that you actually spend the 200?:P
When the article says that Rasterman and Mandrake are working on it, it doesn't mean that MandrakeSoft is the other developer. "Mandrake" is the name/nick/whatever of the other person that's developing e (www.mandrake.net)
The guy that wrote Skipstone and Pronto, did not write GKrellM. He just hosts a skin repository for GKrellM on his site, and never claimed to have written GKrellM.
I'm running a devfs-enabled kernel, with ReiserFS compiled in, and most of my partitions running on ReiserFS. Also, I am running an nVidia GeForce2 card. Tell me, what is the problem with devfs again?:P
Double? I am paying $109 a month for 384k/384k SDSL. Now, my download speeds are capped at 40k/s, same with upload speeds. I, too, am a Speakeasy subscriber, and I would much rather use dial-up than pay double of what I am paying right now for this connection.
"So once again, please charge more Covad - Speakeasy is lightyears ahead of Verizon in terms of quality and I will pay a very large premium for that."
I agree that Speakeasy is better than Verizon in terms of it's quality, but I also must mention that you already are paying a hefty premium for the "superior" service. Yes, that's right. Read the speakeasy FAQ.
I don't spend money on distributions much, as I have a DSL line, so I am able to download pretty much anything I need. I did buy Slackware 8.0 though, just to support the distribution as they are in a severe bind right now, from my understanding.
Run that "reboot" thing that comes with Crossover Office, your install should work after that.

"Are they that low on cash?"
Well, aaactually, according to this, they _are_ that low on cash.

"It always comes down to the writing, doesn't it?"
I guess that's why you're not working for Wired anymore, Jon. *grin*

Anyone going to be nice enough to post a mirror of wolf-linux-1.1b.x86.run? idSoftware's FTP is full already.
Thanks.
I do believe that what Love is working on is in fact a patch, and not a fork.

You can pay for the full version with money orders, AFAIK.

I'd do it, but I heard that the deadly mosquitoes like geek blood.
You're right, it is a very high possibility that people might mistake a KDE app for a motor vehicle. Those gears are quite similar.
Couldn't they have come up with a more creative name for the sequel?
