    The Dutch said never again after the storm of '53. In the Middle East they're building islands for new real estate.

    Why won't the U.S. rebuild the barrier islands to help protect people and commerce?

    ...after a few publicized incidents of scams I think it would become fairly common knowledge that people... If a few well publicized incidents of anything were enough to educate people, the Nigerian, etc., scammers would have given up by now, because they wouldn't be luring anyone else in.

    Ding!. The DeBeers cartel has over a 400 yrs supply of diamond stock. If artificial diamond tech takes off and they can't get a stranglehold, that stock becomes essentially worthless.

    I don't know if this is still on the market, but I heard of it ten years ago. It isn't completely automatic for reasons that will become obvious.

    When your car alarm goes off you get paged. If it was indeed stolen, you dial a number which activates the system. The next time the car comes to a complete stop the engine dies, the windows roll up, the doors lock, and a 95db alram goes off inside the drivers compartment.

    Nothing like instant justice.

    it would be easy to have a place that makes custom counter tops to do the cutting and drilling for you, then you assemble it yourself. they my even be able to use the cut outs where the sinks go in, which i think end up as scrap, and save some money.
